During my masters we took a trip to Melbourne and visited a bunch of studios that were friends with my tutors. At the time Albert was still a part of Architects Eat and he was spoke so honestly about things he disliked in the architecture scene in Melbourne - they were mostly trendy, high end apartments that did little to contribute to its surroundings. At the same time he was so humble in the way he described his projects. It was a great insight into his practice, that always tried to remain honest to the principals of architecture, to design for people in mind. Albert encouraged us to not confide to norms and mainstream but rather to stick to our guns as designers, it’s what makes our cities great. Thank you for showcasing both Albert and his home, it’s a testament to what he’s built in his career.
This is a wonderful tour of a wonderful home. I am so glad that a family who can appreciate the original architecture now live there, and that Albert has brought ingenious and respectful additions to it that have maintained the best of the old, truly improved the beauty and amenity of the courtyard, and made full use of the restful borrowed landscape. Thanks for a great video (and well-filmed ad with cute baby bits).
I HATE when faucets are left open for no reason in these videos. Senseless waste of water. The house I remember seeing it somewhere before, it is very beautiful and very connected to nature. Tip: you are one of the few that shows the floor plan, this is super welcome, but consider making the screen black with white lines because all that white really strains the view
Why would you put ego above professional diligence and the law? The bridge is not to Aust Standard and is a risk, it was not passed by the surveyor who made them weld it up (now undone). What a cowboy!
I love the bridge idea but how did he get it approved with no railings? It looks great without them but it would be pretty dangerous for small kids or elderly people. I've seen fold down railings on superyacht balconies which fold down when they are at anchor. Not something he needs to worry about I guess because he obviously got through council. Beautiful place.

Beautiful. Love the light and layout and connection with greenery.
Remarkable redesign. One of my favourites.

Nice to meet you.
Note, the drawbridge while dramatic, does not meet local council building code.
No railing on draw bridge?
This is fine but older architectural forms are so much more beautiful. Modernist architecture threw out the baby with the bath water.
좀 제대로 보여주지
This architect has never seen a child in his life
He does have two of his own children… So I think he has.
Maybe he has a robot housemaid ?
😂
Children are actually more careful when it comes to height than adults. In fact I’d be more concerned about old folk.
@ 🤣

Beautiful place.
No they made him weld it up and now he illegally puts it down for film crews.
