A lovely home, and a great way to modernise without destruction. I lived next door to them for a while, and the house looked and felt right, it is a beach house.
Incredibly bright and cozy house. It so harmoniously combines the abundance of glass and a small area. And all this harmony is complemented by a simple and homely garden. I'm absolutely delighted, I've watched it a dozen times.
Charming mid-century home reminds me of mid-century homes by Architect Joseph Eichler American real estate developer made the for returning soldiers and housing boom that fallowed they erected rather fast put where a economically priced home but now highly regard and sought after homes. They encouraged “indoor-outdoor” living, with outdoor atriums in the center of the home that brought in the California sunshine.
This has been perfectly restored and modernised. It’s a crying shame that so many of these wonderful examples of Australian architecture have been ignorantly demolished and replaced with unimaginative and grossly oversized dwellings.
It's very cute and so well done! Though I'm itching to convert the laundry room into a 2nd full bathroom and then convert the powder room into a much smaller laundry room 😊
Our home is MCM inspired and modest size like yours. I love the wood paneling in the living room and kitchen areas. Can you please share the specific type of wood material that is? I don’t know where we would purchase such panels. Thank you.
@3:25, I like that there is an entry rather than having the house rush up to you like an untrained puppy. @5:37, that's an odd place to put files. I don't like open plan, so wouldn't have removed the wall separating the kitchen. Overall, though, it's a subtle and not too obvious update.
Clean, uncomplicated design letting the existing architecture set the tone. Natural materials without unnecessary inappropriate adornments. The flow and decor is very simple and as you say beautiful. Relatively small footprint compared to newer larger houses.
“Modest house”?! “Small house”?! You must be joking. This is a huge 150 square meters luxury home. What world are you living in, to call it a “modest house”?
This converts to 1600 square feet and here in the US it is definitely in the small to modest home size. We live in 2300 square feet and it is still considered modest in this area.

How amazing! I'm glad Wilko bought the property, otherwise who knows what would be in its place right now.

I really love the garden Wilko has created, it settles this mid-century home into 'Australia'.

Just perfection! Such a beautiful renovation. This style of home is so often torn apart and not properly protected.
Amazing house. I love the channel!! Everything seems so serene, its like a 7min meditation.
Such a beautiful sympathetic design. Well done.
Beautiful, love what he did with the existing home.
It was such a beautiful outcome.

A beauty of efficiency, clarity and harmony as a whole!

This house is simply perfect!😍
Have to agree with you there!
Hello down under from St. Petersburg, Fl, USA. My house was built in 1956. I love, love, love mid-century. I am buying all mid-century furniture.
A truly beautiful house - kudos, well done!
It's beautifully done!

Gracias por la explicación. Es una casa agradable. Ordenada, equilibrada.
I want a house like this one day
That's just one of the perks of being talented and expert in this profession. ✨😉
So true!

I love mid-century and I like that the home is light-filled and bright. So much now is dark and grey (moody) on the inside...not very uplifting, imho.
From what kind of wood is the kitchen made of?
It's a Tasmanian Oak veneer.
Beautiful and sensible xxx
👏
Beautiful, but not my idea of a “simple dwelling.”
Not being argumentative, just curious to hear why this isn’t a simple dwelling in your eyes?

Is he trolling? It took 4 years for some paint floorboards and new cabinetry?
Little bit more involved than that.
