      And the curtains absorb noise. I have my wardrobe as a wall-hanging shelf with curtains in front, too. When I was bored of the curtains I changed them. For less than 100 Euros the whole room transformed. And at x-mas-time I can hang a curtain with an x-mas-tree at the curtain rail. Simple, space-saving holiday decoration.

    The continuous curtain rod going to the window is genius.

    • @lisar3944
      @lisar3944 5 лет назад +21

      I did something like this in my little apartment, but it's just to cover windows that are at a 90 degree angle, not to hide storage. Point is it looks SO GOOD! Floor to ceiling curtains are key if you can swing it, but having a continuous rail all the way around the corner looks so polished and leaves so many options for how to arrange the curtains - I wish I'd done it years ago. This design element gets a big fat "yessss!!!" from me.

      @AB. B. That's on you if you dont understand

    • @Emblematicify
      @Emblematicify 5 лет назад +13

      @AB. B. rolling curtains would be thinner and require two sets on each side. They would be flatter and look more cold in the context of the room, rather than the curtain that is being used which gives texture and is thicker, also probably more insulating compared to rolling curtains. Also the sliding from the side can allow a full vertical range of light to flow in if the curtain only covers half the window, which I feel is way better than a rolling curtain which can o pay cover the top half when partially extended. Finally I've yet to see rolling curtains that block 100 of the light from a window, and ones that are thick enough to even do so would probably get mildewy during humid seasons.
      All in all the reason this curtain is genius is because by only serving its base purpose it is multifunctional and space efficient, with little maintainence or moving parts required.

      it's liveable, everybody leaves in spaces like this in my country, it does'nt even seem small to me, for one personn . it's not bad at all. We're used to it , and that's why I actually don't like what he did with the place.For having experemented it, you feel much more confortable when you stop trying to gain space by all means, that's not what matters. What matters is comfort and practicality and this thing is not practical, the bed is not practical it will be down all the time , the curtain will never be closed so you'll hav your clothes exposed all the time. Jus put you bed and also use it as a couch, put a nice cupboard that is a nice piece of furniture that you like, decorate it as you like it, have everything immediately avalable. That's the way to make those spaces really liveable and enjoyable.

      @@helen0057 I think you're a bit confused! East is the direction the sun rises no matter where you are, so there's more light in the mornings. In the northern hemisphere, south facing windows get a lot more consistent light throughout the day, and it's the reverse for the southern hemisphere. Oversimplification, but the midday sun is shining more "directly" over the equator, so anywhere south of there the sun is shining a bit more from the north

  • @PeterKlinec

    I believe that the ability to create a great living space within a 23 square meter area is impressive, but it's important to acknowledge that the quality of the building design plays a significant role. It's not just about the size of the space; factors such as high ceilings, large windows, exterior terraces or small gardens, and a well-planned layout can make a small space feel much larger.
    I appreciate that in this particular flat, the kitchen is tucked away in a separate room, allowing for a more organized living space. However, maintaining the tidiness of a small living area can be a challenge, as even small items out of place can make the space look cluttered. Overall, I think the design of this space is excellent and showcases the potential of small living areas.

    • @antwainclarke3406
      @antwainclarke3406 Год назад +2

      I agree. The sensitivity to architectural details and landscaping makes such small spaces feel more homey than cramped. I would also like to add that these spaces work great in urban areas because you have alot going on nearby- cafes, parks, galleries, theatres, museums, shops etc. The city becomes like an outdoor living room extending your living space far beyond the 23 sqm of the flat.

My first place was a 200 sq ft. apartment. In that space I realized I had everything I needed. It was cozy and perfect for ME. I understand this doesn’t work for everyone, but it fit me and my needs perfectly. And, I was quite happy with it. I was free to do more of what I loved because I wasn’t tied up cleaning all the time, or working to buy a bunch of shit to fill my apartment with. I creativity filled it with quality essential items/furniture and it was Aaaaaamazing!!! I choose to own my things and as much as my life as possible. Not the other way around. Keeping that same mindset I now own a three story 1700 sq ft townhome. Wanna know what I named it? You ready? The Biggie Small! Get it?!? 😂😂😂😂 It’s big but it’s small! I love it! And, guess what else? I’m debt-free! Wanna know why? Cause I bought small and stayed within my budget. I wouldn’t have it any other way. 😎 Anywhoo, it’s been nice chatting with you. Thanks for asking me why I love small spaces. I’ve enjoyed telling my little story. Stay safe and stay well in these streets. (In my tigger voice) TTFN ✌🏾

      my first thought.. with such lovely space for gardening, there are no useful fruit trees, vegetables garden, herbs, spices...
      I can understand , so-called human society does not allow these to be turned into useful spaces. Only crotons, useless lawns, useless trees, ornamental ones are grown,
      All spending on water, soil, maintenance, CCTV... so why not Grow Useful ones, helping one to run around less and less for money , hoping money would provide these.. but all we get is only adulterated stuff, fruits plucked even before ripe and chemicals used to make it look ripe..
      See only ripe fully well grown fruits will have the vitamins and minerals. Only these are healthy. Not half ripe, plucked early just to make money by these consumerism and commercialisation world...

    This is my favorite apt on this channel because it's something completely doable for the average person.
    Everyone can diy/afford and utilize a quick floor to ceiling shelving unit across an entire wall with track curtains. Immediately all of the owner's stuff is accessible and in one spot, not needing to be crammed into tiny boxes that you forgot what you put where. All of it hidden out of sight immediately and suddenly you've got a massive open living area while still being able to have "stuff".
    The kitchen and bathroom are separate, with enough usable space, and nothing is on top of each other or in odd positions against the sleeping area.
    All of their furniture and appliances are usable and was already there. No mini mortgage was needed to make this place a reality!

    I kind of like the look of the shelving instead of the curtain. Just a little door over the hanging shirts would be perfect imo. The way the curtain turns over the window is rly smart tho. Looks so cozy!

    • @growingwings1212
      @growingwings1212 4 года назад +29

      Completely agree! I would only want that curtain at night for privacy over the patio window and door. I think books and shelves with knick knacks make a place homey. Just some cabinet doors over the jackets and maybe also the piles of clothing would do it for me.

      I agree but it seems the architects always want clean lines and calm in these small spaces. Theres another video in this series of anot hger Cairo flat also owned by an archtect and he hides his kitchen behind a door to create a calm open space. Like those shelves the kitchen is really cute as well as it being way more practical.

    This is so lovely. I’m pleasantly surprised by the look of the curtain, usually when people use curtains to cover storage spaces it can look a little dated, but the quality of the fabric used and the muted tone of that curtain really adds to the space. It’s ingenious how the same curtain wraps around to the window to transform the space to efficiently.
    I really like the way the ceiling is curved into the wall so that you don’t feel like you’re in a box but a beautiful seamless space.

That's really excellent! I like that the place is clean too and whenever you're sick of your room, you can just slide that door and voila you're outside with nature and with the fresh air! This is amazing! I'm currently living in a dorm and it's quite small! This just goes to show how important an architect is in building spaces like this! Bravo!!!

With the main living space so bright & open, it really allows you to give the bathroom more room. I think the relocation of the kitchen doorway was a great idea, as is the whole wall of storage. I could be very content living in this space.

    High ceilinged studio-sized apt. Patio space should be included to sq footage as it contributes hugely and beautifully to the livability of this home.
    The large bathroom/laundry was a very forward-looking idea. Something that was once an unheard of luxury is becoming standard for city apts in major cities.
