    Man I’m glad you shared this video. I’ve got one and now I can use it not only on GMRS.

    Great radio. I use mine a few times a week, able to hit repeaters 30 miles away.

    Is there a way to make it so it transmits/receives only on UHF (440 MHz range) only?

    When you open it up will it do both ham and GMRS? From the video it looked like it. The other question after you open it up can you still use software to program the radio? Thank you very much

    • @therealwolfspidertoo

      Yes. It will be open for ham. Yes you can program it with a computer.

    I bought a 779-UV last July on Amazon and I can't change the V/M Power ON frequency expansion. The device remains blocked.

    I am not 100% sure but with this radio and its similar brothers you can not adjust the power level (low or high) When the radio is new and locked the Low and High settings are built into the particular GMRS station that you are tuned to. The manual does not show a power level setting?

    I couldn't find that the radio is Part 90 (commercial business band) at all. The only certifications I found were Part 95E (GMRS) and Part 15B. Legal for amateur radio and GMRS only.

    I'm assuming this will work with the Radioddity DB20-G. After all, when I turn on the DB20-G, the welcome screen says "WELCOME! ANYTONE!"

    • @FirewireG
      @FirewireG 2 года назад

      Yes. if you look in Radioddity DB20-G programing software at the (?) it even says AnyTone AT-779UV

    • @brian954
      @brian954 2 года назад +1

      My DB20-G just says “DB20G” at startup. Tried it an it works.
      Seems to wipe all over your save information, so prepare for that.

    Just curious if this is a one way/one time mod or, can you change the radio back and forth (open vs. GMRS only) with this method? Also, once unlocked, can all of the memories be used for transmit and receive?

  • @stevegreer1963
    @stevegreer1963 Год назад

    I have a Radioddity DB20G. I have repeater channels programmed in through the CPS. If I unlock this feature, will I lose all of my programmed GMRS channels?

    • @therealwolfspidertoo
      @therealwolfspidertoo  Год назад +1

      Yes. Performing this will reset the radio. I've done it twice to test it. I can't guarantee that all models will do that. Just the one that I own.

      @@therealwolfspidertoo Thank you for responding. I don’t have a ham license, so I will just leave it as is. It’s good to know that this radio can be unlocked if I need to in the future. Great video and thanks again!

    Hello, how could you open the band to 130,0000, I'm from Spain

    • @therealwolfspidertoo
      @therealwolfspidertoo  2 года назад

      I know of no way to expand the frequency transmit and received beyond what's already programmed into the radio. When doing the mod select the frequency range that best accommodates your needs.

  • @papachop05

    This mod really works.....is there a way to store multiple frequencies from just the microphone or radio? TIA

    • @therealwolfspidertoo
      @therealwolfspidertoo  2 года назад +1

      Yes but I'm not up on that info. There's another video that shows how to program from the mic. I highly recommend using the data cable and doing it from a computer.

    Beware the Anytone 779UV UK version 2.34 cannot be opened up whatsoever. I'm sending it back as I want to use it while staying in USA. 4X4 Norfolk CB lied to me said they can be unlocked, that's BS they cannot be they are stuck. No Data Cable & the box had been opened. Bad information caused me to buy a cable & you do not unlock it with a PC. Hate liars who have bought a cheap almost useless lot & lying to sell them. It's going back tomorrow.

    What a load of rubbish the programming software is, no insert, no copy, no past, no import, no export, no move up, no move down. its a abysmal. Also no nick gain, i really really love the radio, programming software is the assault!!! well can't describe how frustrating it is, it really is frustrating compared to anything else have used that's crap. For me this radio will never see the light of day with me again until they sort
    eplace the software or chirp add this radio.

    That is an amateur radio you are modifying, it is not a Part 90 certified business band (BTW GMRS is Part 95). Look on the top it shows you the band split, no it's not a GMRS radio. I think you got confused. You still didn't show how to change it from one mode to the other.
