Nintendo as a company really feels like a 4chan post I saw years ago: "Too bad you're having fun the wrong way" Unless you enjoy them as they intend, you're doing it wrong
Funniest thing is how two of Nintendo's most recent games *can't* be enjoyed as intended because they were released in such a broken state, people were demanding refunds
@@lindsayshanks7555 I've been having a shit ton of fun with them even though they have terrible fps and visual bugs. Game should not have been released in this state but still enjoyable for me at least.
What we do with smash was obviously intended by the creator of the game, Sakurai encouraged competitive play while Nintendo as a whole just doesn't like anyone else making a buck in any way off of somethin that is exclusive to their console if they don't get a share. Seeing half a mill on swt probably put some salt in nintendos wounds. Panda CEO primarily pushed this forward with an inflated ego since he was licensed with Nintendo.
Jesus Christ is the propitiation for the whole world's sins. They that believeth and are baptized (with the Holy Spirit) shall be saved; but they that believeth not shall be damned. Those led by the Holy Spirit do not abide in wickedness. 👍🏾 *God is ONE manifesting himself as THREE;* the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Bless him! *For these three are one.* As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him. Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, and where I am doing it; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them, they lack understanding. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.
Another truth many have been deceived of: When you trust in God and cast your cares (worries, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts) upon him, they will be NO MORE! Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals! The world is wicked, evil, and of the devil. I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God! Open your heart to God, repent of your sins (he will forgive you), and let him direct your path. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands and purify your heart, lest you walk with the devil and follow him to hell.
Literally, my friends of a rave company out here had Mario themed raves/parties every year. Nintendo personally reached out to them and demanded them to post a video/photos of destroying ALL of their Nintendo related props, evidence and all association to it or they would be heavily sued. It happened two weeks before the event was supposed to take place and they were forced to change the theme and rebrand the event. And there are many other NY corporate shows that still do it and haven't gotten in trouble for it (yet). It baffles me that Nintendo hates everyone so much
@@thegamerfe8751 There's no article on it, but I saw my friend post it on Facebook back in August. The company's name is Tight Crew and they host raves in the New England area. They've been in business for 15 years and they posted the photos of the aftermath
Looked it up and damn, it's real. Didn't find the pictures of the aftermath though. But as a business you have to be a special kind of stupid to prevent people from buying tons of Mario merchandise just for a specific event. Absolutely bonkers.
I dont see why this would kill the smash community. Pedopeople in the FGC didnt kill any game, did it? I really dont think the FGC cares about much besides getting a chance to play vs others. They'll just play for Panda and move on. Maybe I'm missing a lot, but that community has never done anything significant when big things happen. Feel free to educate me though.
@@hinoakuma6386 I didn't say anything about it killing the community. "Shooting themselves in the foot" simply meant that they halted basically any, and all progress that was being made by the community when it came to being able to play without Nintendo blasting us with a C&D at every turn.
This seems to be mainly Panda's fault and because Nintendo has a contract with them, they are obligated to assist them. Nintendo were clearly making steps to support the community, but chose the absolute wrong guy to assist and now the community is suffering for it. That is not to say that Nintendo is entirely without blame, but they have been forced back down their usual path by Panda
Right. Hopefully, Nintendo finds a better global circuit to allow for not just official Smash tournaments, but also official Mario Kart tournaments and whatnot.
That's what pisses me off the most. It looked like Nintendo was finally deciding to try supporting the community, and this absolute dickweed ruined it for EVERYONE. Not a big smash fan, but damn do I feel bad for the treatment they get (from Nintendo, not people saying they smell)
It's kind of genius how Nintendo is trying to keep its hands clean with this situation. From what I understand, what Nintendo is saying is true- they did not *directly* tell SWT they needed to cancel. What they *said* was that SWT needed to get a license or cancel. SWT did not have a license, and Nintendo did not give them one. Nintendo *forced SWT to cancel their own event.*
An overlooked outcome of this is that VGBC's financial future is now unstable. They were the ones running SWT and, I don't know if they could afford to reinstate the championship if they already canceled stuff behind the scenes. VGBC made a statement on twitter addressing this and it seems like they're going to have to seriously downscale/make some cuts if they want to survive. The fact this is happening to the biggest, longest running Smash TO/production company is tragic. VGBC arguably carried the smash scene for years, and they've been going since nearly the beginning. A genuine pillar of the scene might fall because of this. Also all those panda global players/creators are now in a really uncomfortable situation because of their boss's actions... wouldn't want to be them, I bet a lot of people are giving them shit they don't deserve.
Wonder if they could sue nintendo, for tricking them into investing into running a tournament they weren't going to allow to happen. Or maybe the "join us or we'll get you shut down" Panda thing could be extortion.
There's not a single developer out there with as much contempt for it's own fanbase I swear. Nintendo needs to re-evaluate it's relationship with us because these tournaments are often done out of love for the games they make and it seems like they just don't want us to love their games.
felt like all that flew out the window the moment Iwata & Reggie departed the company. We also just never hear anything from Doug Bowser Dougie isn't the main reason, but since then it's been the most isolated the community has felt from Nintendo
They just want you to buy their games. Nintendo isn't your friend. The faster people realize this and stop supporting them by playing and buying their games, the better

Hope fans don’t take their anger out on them when they did nothing wrong. Internet is known for lashing out at the wrong people.
If they have to go and be apart of the tournament because they can’t get out, they should just sit down and do nothing. It’s not like they’ll be having fun anyway, so why actually work for free for people like Allen. Just be bored to be there and anyone left who would watch it would leave, therefore making the impact much more worse on panda
I'll never understand why Nintendo is constantly destroying events for people who play their most popular game at the highest level. you'd think that they would be all for it. there's no downside to it. also my daughter's 3rd birthday party was cease and desist-ed due to Mario plush
My theory is that Nintendo truly, truly hates the idea of their games being "fully competitive" instead of "fun and casual", which I wouldn't be so surprised given a lot of competitive communities are toxic AF and sometimes ruin the fun of casual players (LOL, Overwatch, Valorant, etc.) and the EVO allegations from 2 years ago definitely didn't helped. But it's still no excuse on why they treat the competitive scene the way they do, with Panda they were finally taking steps in the right direction, but that also ended up in this disastrous drama
Well is not like people just stop buying, consuming or playing their stuff.. This is just another one of many "dramas" related to cease and desist people will just get over it and then will proceed to get exited when a new direct drops. That happened when a melee tournament got shut down and just after that a new direct dropped everyone forgot about it even the streamers and youtubers that made noise about the topic, they made a rant and then proceeded to get hyped for the upcoming announcements. Any company can just pull this off and they know nothing is going to happen because everyone still consumes whatever they sell. People just should learn to not consume everything but nintendo fans in general are willing to keep getting their stuff even if it is not worth the price or if it has issues. Being anticonsumer is the actual way to get profit.
I think its important to remember that its the panda organisation that is being awful and not the individual players signed with them who probably have very little say in company decisions.
Going after Panda sponsors is the way to go. Though it would be good to talk to the players as well, because they may be able to put pressure on from the inside. But harassing them is not what people should do.
If Panda has a presence in the US, Alan's behaviour may fall foul of competition law. It's illegal to go to someone and say "only work with me otherwise I'll make it so that you can't work at all". Japan's laws may not work the same way, but the US laws cover citizens or resident corporations operating in any market globally. If he hasn't went super rat and covered his back properly, he's likely about to get a colonoscopy from Uncle Sam, and that dude's got big hands when it comes to shit like this
It is fine tbh. Panda is the direct partner to the owner of the ip and the competition is only allowed to exist under the condition that they don’t interfere with Nintendo’s desires.
If Nintendo wants to relegate them and it causes friction, they already know the terms of the deal. They have no right to compete when that requires someone else’s IP. It isn’t a sport, this isn’t just another competitive space. They are using someone else’s game.
@@mip4422there’s a difference between “sign this contract so you won’t work with our competition” and showing up to a rival’s event with your goons Bada and Bing making ominous threats that they’ll be shut down if they don’t pay respects to the Don.

This is like Epic Games telling Square Enix that they can't sell FF VII remake anywhere else other than their launcher because they think they hold the power to strongarm other launchers.
A tale as old as time. Nintendo always "partners" with tournament organizations and when they are about to go ahead, they cancel it. It happened over and over again.
That's certainly one way to deter people from watching your own tournament, by using your power and leverage to snuff out the grass root competition. I doubt many of the hardcore fans are going to want to watch if all of this is true.
If there’s anything I learned, is that Reggie was a brilliant PR representative. It feels like everything went to shit once he left, but Nintendo was already like that while he was working for them.

@@2moreminutes it doesn’t even look like people are watching the entire video. There’s articles stating that a Nintendo rep said Nintendo wasn’t planning to cancel anything. It’s pandaglobal’s fault mainly.
You know Nintendo completely ignores twitter considering the backlash about the upcoming Mario movie. If the people who made Sonic were on that film, they would have dragged Pratt's ass back in there and had him sit with the most Italian man on earth for a month to re-record the lines.
Wasnt the tripping mechanic on brawl (that weird thing where your character would randomly trip for no reason) to make it almost impossible to play on a competitive level? thats how much they hate competitive smash, they would rather make their game shittier than have a pro smash scene. I know they walked it back (because it made the game almost unplayable) for ultimate but I think the sentiment is still there.
One correction to make: Right when he was getting into things, Charlie said Nintendo is very hands off with the Smash competitive scene. That's not true. Nintendo is very hands on. And their hands and their hands are on its throat, desperately trying to strangle it to death in a decade long fit of rage.
I love that you teach things. FGC and such. Ty. Sad about the community. I still remember my cross country team captain and another guy stuffing their GameCube and controllers into a bag, walking miles in what ended up being a downpour, they then shoved their shirts in the bag to protect the cube, then arrived at one of my first alcohol parties so we could smesh inside versus party with girls outside in a pool in the rain.
Sega: y’know… maybe our fans aren’t what you think they should be.. but they love us.. Nintendo:Hey. My fans RESPECT ME. And that’s all I’ll ever need.
I'm just shocked that these companies keep doing stupid moves yet people still keep buying from them. Almost as if they know they'll still make sales no matter what stupid shit they do!
Probably ignorance. Lots of people don't know of or don't care about Smash, and enjoy other Nintendo games instead. And thus Nintendo makes money from people who are ignorant of the bad deeds.
Reminder that CEO of Panda Global snitched to Nintendo when other circuits refused to join the Panda Cup. I hate Nintendo’s tournament/esports management but Alan is a piece of shit for trying to monopolize Smash Bros tournaments
It's almost like a company that has dominated in the industry for 20 years has enough cushion monetarily to bounce back from a mistake here and there. It would be a different story if we were talking about an indie game dev or something.
"Build up the fake friendship, then pull the rug out last minute to destroy their fighting spirit. Keep them from having the chance to get back up to their best again."
Out of curiosity, the Panda contract just states they just had to attend right? Any chance the players could protest at the event by intentionally playing bad/whacky?
Like I could only imagine the worst case scenario... What if Nintendo shuts down modding? Like if they had the BALLS to go out of their way and release another unexpected firmware update, that doesn't seem much, but when looking closer, it reveals that if you even attempt to launch custom firmware, you can either get your console bricked, or you account can get banned. That's pretty much my biggest fear when it comes to supporting a century old japanese corporation. They notice their fans desires, but they choose to ignore them and pretty much start treating them like their own enemies. This comes to show how manipulative Nintendo can be at ALL times.
I'll never understand why they do shit like this, the amount of time and resources they are going to spend on this beats whatever they would lose 10 fold if they had just let the event happen
I just recently got the Wii U for the sole purpose of wanting to play some old N64 classics (Majoras Mask etc) but of course the eShop closed down just a few days before I got to download them… Really sucked, I wish they could open it up for like a day so that the fans can download the stuff they want and then they can close it.

Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, and where I am doing it; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them, they lack understanding. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.

Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals!

It happened two weeks before the event was supposed to take place and they were forced to change the theme and rebrand the event. Amazing how the greed of one man shot the entire Smash community in the foot.
Finally, a real person that knows the truth and I strongly agree with you!
Yes, this is mostly Panda's fault. We need to contact their sponsors and hit Panda Global where it hurts. They won't back down unless we do something.
Right. Hopefully, Nintendo finds a better global circuit to allow for not just official Smash tournaments, but also official Mario Kart tournaments and whatnot.

Nintendo shills.
The name panda makes so much sense now. They've jeopardized their entire existence, just like the actual animal does all the time
LMAO fr

Of dysentery?
@@JacobPlays136 lolll many times he definitely needs to make anything series playing the new one
I died too. Alot.
I'll never understand why they do shit like this, the amount of time and resources they are going to spend on this beats whatever they would lose 10 fold if they had just let the event happen
Because Panda
thank you for representing the smash community moist, means so much to have a big channel like you in the smash community
This is like in "The Incredibles movie" were Syndrome kills every hero to be the only superhero
Hack the wii u, problem solved
"You will play our games the way WE want you to, and if you don't we're gonna beat you until you do." is Nintendo's motto.
My impression is that's a pretty typical Japanese business mindset.
@@danieljensen2626 Except for the fact that this is Nintendo of America
@@danieljensen2626 Given that Nintendo alone has this reputation, I'm not buying that excuse anymore.
Panda also hosts some of the biggest FGC players too, Justin Wong being a prime example. Wonder how they'll take this move.
@Patrick39 Hey buddy how's it feel having the personality of a goldfish?
10:18 I can't wait to see the Oregon Trail's updated dysentery graphics and physics!
