Speaking of the fish reproducing not that I know much about fish I'm more experience with game birds and bird dogs, however I wondered how difficult it is for them in the Des Plaines due to the periodic Springtime early summer you might say flash intense flooding with super strong current. As we know people used to like to throw their old tires in the river, and of course most of them are still there they haven't been picked up by Boy Scouts or Isaac Walton cleaning parties or something got me to thinking, saw a video of the guy in his kayak he was casting at a fish that was hanging out in one of those old tires. Maybe, the old tires even though they are an eyesore can make a good spot Mrs Bass Mrs other type of fish to make her nest
Nice video! I've heard stories of there being saugers in the river but haven't caught one myself yet. Keep em coming!
Nice Sauger!!! ❤
Thanks for stopping by !
Way to go. Nice mixed bag! Been waiting for your new upload.
Thanks man, I appreciate the words!!! Good luck on your next fishing adventure, Bam Ch!
Sweet video. I really appreciate your explanation about what you did to catch those fish.
Thanks man! :) I hope you catch some big fish soon Michal, I wish you luck
Beautiful
great video brother going to hit the des plaines soon with the kayaks hope i do as good as you did
Awesome catches. I usually fish the DPR around Miner St in Des Plaines, caught bass and pike. Have you caught/targeted for crappie along your stretch with sucess? I'm going to give it a shot as soon as level drops a bit.
There are back waters I fish of the Des Plaines River there are big crappie some over 2 pounds
Caught the biggest crappie of my life on the Miner street bridge last spring. Just under two pounds, just over 17 inches!
What stretch is this? Need to add sauger to my list of species caught
Nice sauger
Thanks man! Best of luck fishing to you
Those areas used to be way better when dam #1 and #2 were still in place. I fished there a lot when I lived over by Beck lake.
Tell that to the people trying to take down the fox river dams
Pretty fat, healthy~looking fish

Thanks Tom, wish you luck out on the water!
What are u using for the pike and bass in there
Is this over by 83 by any chance & would you ever eat any of the fish out of there
Nope not by 83rd but around that area are some good spots on the Des plaines river that I’ve fished, nice sized pike there. Also I don’t recommend eating any fish from here, even bluegill. The water is dirty still and personally I don’t think it’s good quality water to eat fish from here. You can try but they won’t taste to good, and definitely in large quantities is not healthy. Good luck fishing man!
Illinois?
From the area and would love to know where your fishing I can only fish from shore as I have no bait and never find good spots along the river
No boat*
There’s good spots everywhere along the Des plaines river, toss some artificial lures and search. Find deeper water and keep exploring. Most of the time, it depends whether the fish are biting or not due to conditions like weather and water temps. Just keep trying and you’ll get into them, Des Plaines River Is quality fishing from south to North. You just have to know where to look for in the river to find where fish like to stay. Structure, deep pools and bends are good place to find them. The fish behave differently during different seasons like the summer or fall. Fish are super lazy in summer, especially pike.
what stretch is this
Where is this at??What part of the river
