    Thank you. You guys just listed all of the reasons the Falcons should have drafted Penix at 8 and why Penix should be there. If Kirk can’t get ready properly with Penix there he never would have been ready without Penix there.
    Stop with the ‘the sky is falling the sky is falling’ with the Cousins-Penix situation. It is not only not that bad - and McKay is not involved in the day to day anymore, or in anything, except as a consultant - it is actually a good thing. The Falcons likely have a franchise QB for the next five years. That’s a good outcome.

    Will Kirk Cousins even be ready to start Week 1? Honestly, this all points to WTF were they doing signing him to that contract? Penix should be #1.

    • @Paula-mv8im
      @Paula-mv8im 26 дней назад

      Obviously Kirk will be ready by week 1. Kirk was told by his doctor's that it's a 9 month recovery period. The Falcons wanted Kirk so that they could win now as he has all of the skills that they wanted (and they wanted a guy who was like Brees who Kirk has been compared to). Right after he got signed, the odds for the Falcons to win the Super Bowl immediately went up. Plus, they have no idea what they have in Penix…he could be bust…he could be great. And if he is a bust then they still got Kirk on the roster to win games.
      Signing Kirk was also the guarantee against injury. Kirk takes care of his body better than Brady. Before this injury, the last time Kirk missed a game due to injury was in 2009 when he was in college which was 14 years ago. Achilles’ injuries are serious but I am not worried about Kirk’s injury when he was taking 7 step drop backs and throwing loss passes at only 4 months after his surgery.
      Meanwhile Penix ….has had 4 season ending injuries in his college career. He had the same shoulder injury as Christian Ponder who was a bust. Penix also has had two torn ACLs which is the same injury that RGIII had and he couldn’t stay healthy. He might be fine, he may not be. You just never know…..so they signed the most durable QB in the league.
      The only reason that Kirk even tore his Achilles was that he wore the longer spikes for the first time in his 12 year career and said that his cleat got stuck in the ground.

    From what I gather about this issue, it seems that, the GM and the coach went to Arthur about their concerns regarding Kirk, but Arthur Blank wanted Kirk signed, put his foot down and got what he wanted then turned around and told the GM and the coach that Hey, you can do whatever you want with the 8th pick.

    • @Paula-mv8im

      Kirk was the Falcon's top target. Morris worked with Kirk when they were both in Washington. Morris is well aware of how Kirk takes care of his body (better than Brady) and also worked under Sean McVay who was Kirk's OC for two years. McVay has said that Kirk is "a guy you can absolutely win a championship with." Plus, it’s a 9 month rehab.
      Need more proof? From Albert’s Breer’s article “Inside Kirk Cousins’ Departure from Minnesota and His Arrival in Atlanta”…..” To run the offense they’d (Morris and Fontenot) collectively envisioned, they needed a quarterback who could be an effective distributor, throw with accuracy and anticipation, and be a multiplier for the young skill-position guys. So, the ideal fit was a QB like Brees, who Fontenot and Pace had grown up with. Those in the Shanahan tree who were with Cousins in Washington, long felt Cousins, under the right circumstances, could be a quarterback who’d mirror Brees in a lot of ways.” The Falcons looked at other options, too, (like Mayfield, Fields, the draft) in case Kirk stayed with the Vikings.

    Penix will start the 1st game if Cousins does not, he better have a typical rookie below 80 rating. If he has a mid 80 or above rating, he may never leave the field, I guess we waisted some money but sorry this is our guy. Being the 4th QB picked it is unlikely he will be a Stroud, Cousins isn't their guy just someone to win games and keep their jobs. You draft top 10 another year or 2 you are gone is league reality, it may be irrational but you have to win to keep your job now and in 5 years. You don't like the QB available, Minshew will get a mediocre team that won 7 games too close to another 6 or 7 win season.

The steelers just found out that both fields and Wilson are toxic, uncoachable, and they have learning dissabilities and are gauranteed to flop and ruin the chemistry of their team. They should cut them both and trade for Cousins. Penix is amazing. The Falcons need to make him the clear #1. This is great for Cousins, because he will be the clear #1 in Pittsburg, and he will be behind a great O-line and he will have a great team around him.
