So many actors and actresses from this movie went on to great movie and Broadway performances and great careers! Just can't imagine how many hours, weeks and months of practicing went into this great musical scene!
I. Love this number & the. Entire movie and. I. am. in. Love with. CASSIE. !!!!!
Literal chills every time they pop out of the mirror. EVERY TIME. This movie never gets old for me. ❤️
Me too...Wow
I've found this movie difficult to watch. 😢
Just nothing like it. It makes me smile. It makes me happy. And I'm always amazed at the high kicks.
Pure magic. One of the best musicals of all time.
OH MY GOD...!!!. YES HONEY...!!!!, YES....!!!.
Wonderful...happy to watch this...!!!! Awesome dance steps...great kicks!
I was 11 yrs old when i first saw this movie..i am now 47 and till this day this scene still gives me chills!!

Never gets old!
I just can't get over the *precision* and energy of all those humans!! What a joy!!
Mikhail Baryshnikov used to sneak in the theatre, get into costume and 'slip' into the chorus line for the "One" finale - as a surprise. It was always a delight, and a total hoot for the audience.
I was half-asleep last night and my hazy mind read this as Mikhail Gorbachev. A different mind picture altogether

One singular big nation, every little country counts
One thrilling combination, every one is the same
One smile and suddenly you are in the. Gu. lag.
You know you'll always be lonely with Un. cle. Sam!
One! Moment here with Lenin, and you must forget the rest!
For we Soviets are the best, or else! Son!
Oooh! Sigh! Give her all your labor
Do I really have to mention red's the...
Red's the...
Red's the ONE!
To be part of the audience and witness this is beyond awesome. I'm grateful.
@@gracecheri997 I'm with you there. I was an "intern" in London when this was being prepared for the west end and the cast went on strike to stop the nepotism of the producer's "girl friend" getting the gig ahead of the "alternate" - when the 'star' fell ill just before opening night - and they WON! (I was in the rehearsal band for the stand by's - My internship was as an engineer - work that out) Eight (?) months later it was the back drop to meet my newly engaged 'partner's' parents - they were BOTH West end performers - we were both technologists at a VERY Technology led university. salad days
I actually played that role in HS '
This just makes me smile from top to toe .. amazing choreography gives me goosebumps every time I watch ... to me the best dance sequence EVER .. period!!!
The use of the mirror is genius. You can’t tell where the dancers end and the reflections begin
AND they did it without the cameras reflecting in the mirrors!
@@OceanKingNY which for 85 is impressive
magicamadeye 😳 The statement is mind, boggling.
Um, did anyone ever see the Broadway or even a touring company production of this show? The mirrors were used in the original too.
@@stepawayful exactly! Mirror Mirror on the wall!!
After all of these 33 years this movies never gets old. I was 20 years when I saw this movie, now I'm 54. This movie brings back beautiful memories from the 1980's...!
Never saw the movie, only ever saw the Sydney stage production in 1977. At Her Majesty's Theatre.
THE 80S WERE A WONDERFUL TIME FOR MUSIC.
One of the best musicals ever on Broadway!! Deserves a revival.
👏👏👏
No matter how many times I watch this it never seems to amaze me. The timing is impeccable. Kudos to the Dancers, Choreographer, Director, Producer, Musicians, Wardrobe Designer, Lighting Techs, Cameramen and most of all the man with the vision..Michael Bennett! 💖
IT never CEASES to amaze you...
I absolutely adored this movie. I’m so grateful that I was able to get the full experience and wasn’t distracted by comparisons. This is so much a part of my childhood.
COMPARISONS? DO YOU MEAN THE BROADWAY PRODUCTION COMPAREDTOTHE MOVIE VERSION? BECAUSE WITHOUT THE SUCCESS OF THE BROADWAY SHOW THE MOVIE NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE.
The movie version of Dance Ten Looks Three is the best. I’ve heard the Broadway cast recording and it’s not as glitzy.
I Love Chorus Line - the Music by Marvin Hamlisch, the Dancers and Choreography are Second to None! 'ONE' - The Finale is simply the Best!
Saw the Broadway show on tour in San Francisco at a 3,500 seat theatre..liked it a lot. Then, years later, saw a professional revival at a small 99 seat theatre in L.A. and absolutely fell in love. You need the intimacy of a smaller theater to bring the stories to life, to identify with the characters. I have always been a great fan of professional dancers; they work and train so hard and are so crucial to a show's success, but so few rise to stardom.
Probabaly the most iconic dance number in history!.
Absotively and posilutely, Mr. Kovac!! I still get chill bumps when I see this and I remember my first time to see this was in Dallas at the Summer Musicals on opening night. It was a giant roar from the audience at the end. How fortunate I am.
Tommy Kovac after Gene Kelly and Jerry Mouse In Anchors Aweigh ;)

Probably the worst adaptation of a Broadway musical I ever saw.
@@unclealand other than cats,Les mis and phantom haha
I'll say......if anyone says it's not.....they DON'T KNOW DANCE!
wonderful!
I remember when Cats took the crown for longest running Broadway musical from A Chorus Line and the Cats cast wearing top hats sang this song as an encore after the history making performance.
I love this musical
one of the greatest musical theatre sequences I've ever been privileged to witness
This is my favorite routine! And that mirror effect!!!! It’s even incredible live on B’way...chills!!
I wish I could have seen this on stage really amazing!
I saw it on the stage twice. Once on the second row for my 30th birthday, and then on the third row a few weeks later. It was magical.
I saw it on stage 5 times! The first time was in Vegas, the next 4 were in LA...and I never did see how the stage filled as it does. I "knew" but never saw. It is a fantastic show - I even bought the DVD and watch it at least once a year, if not more often. Just wonderful!!
I saw it on stage 33 times, at least a half dozen with the original cast. This movie version is an insult to the stage production. The orchestral arrangements in the film are weak in comparison. And the plot adjustments to allow for a romance just derail the intent of the script. Even the poor quality videos on line of the stage production put this glossy film adaptation to shame.
I was in NYC at the height of this fantastic show. Six weeks in Manhattan and couldn’t get a ticket !!! Depressing.
Gordon Owens I did, saw the touring company at the Hanna Theatre in Cleveland, terrific!
Outstanding rendering historical experience rendez-vous ! Merci beaucoup and happy new year to yu all. Emmanuel from Paris France
Happy New Year! I wish I could visit your beautiful city again. You are very blessed to be able to live there.
The ones who dislikes this performance was just jealous they didn't had a chance to be part of this show.
Ragu Spaghetti Sauce this was the movie, and the movie was bad, but the musical on stage was amazing.
Lol Zack would have had me arrested for trying out. I can't dance . Can't sing . And I definitely can't do ballot !!
That part where their “reflections” follow them at 2:10 always trips me tf out
Me too!!!!
I didn’t even notice 😅🤣
i think is happens again at 2:33 but idk
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie!!! Have lost count how many times I have watched it!!!
me too :)
AINT IT THE TRUTH!
At least ten times for me!!!! Saw it on Broadway in 1989 it was fabulous!
After the show, I can remember a bunch of us from school in Richmond, sitting on the floor watching our friend open and read to us, all the Opening Night telegrams. I was really impressed that I had a friend in a sensational musical hit on Broadway. For the original cast this move to Broadway was the culmination of two years of their lives birthing this idea of Michael Bennett into a show at the downtown Public Theatre, run by Joe Papp, who gave them all the rehearsal space and time they needed to "put(ting) it together." What none of us expected was the dour sarcasm from our "star," exhausted after spending so much time with all these people we thought were so wondetful.
Two years of your life locked in a rehearsal studio with the same people, working on one project. Even the choreography got a Bronx cheer for being
so easy. Wow....that evening was a mixed-bag. But, at least Broadway now had a new show that was "fresh" and "exciting."
+Jack Mason
Enviable recollection, to be sure.
Can you share the way in which your friend - 2 years on - expressed that perhaps undestandable sarcasm? Surely he/she regretted it immediately.
It’s more than a singular sensation…that’s why it’s so much fun to watch again and again!
I watched this almost every day when I was little. Where my love for musical theatre began
Same
No more express Broadway musicals than Chorus Line , beautiful forever !
I first this as a road show in Denver, with the full Broadway cast just before it debuted in NYC. Whan experience!! The movie, IMO, wasn't quite as good as the live performance. But I still love it. "One" is a number that gets stuck in my head as an earworm for DAYS!
This remains to be one of my All Time Favourite Movie. For some reason, I always teared up at the very end. What Remarkable precision...
What an Amazing production. I watched it so many times that I am surprised that my DVD still plays. It remains one of my all time feel good movies...
Just great....we got to.love America for this.....Not for Trump or Nixon..but for Jazz and Show business
I would watch the movie endlessly as a kid!!🖤🎩
I was not a kid, but I also watched it over and over again...
Exhilarating Broadway show and Michael Bennett, an unbelievable Choreographer/Director.. 1976 won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 9 Tony' Awards, including Best Musical, and in 1984, Special Tony for becoming Broadway's longest running musical. Absolutely thrilling to experience Live !!
Saw this show on Broadway in the early 1980s. Fabulous .
I wish I had seen this on Broadway. This dance sequence probably looked amazing in person.
Especially the ones this film cut!
I saw it as a little girl, it was nothing short of magical.
Non trovo parole !!! gran spettacolo sincronismo eccezionale bella musica .
VERAMENTE...!!!. TUTTO....!!!, TUTTO....!!!.
C'était excellent vu à sa sortie , si ce genre pouvait revenir .... d'excellents artistes... de la gaité ....du bonheur , astucieux les miroirs .
a great song and performance ...no cussing no nudity.. just fun! i guess those days are gone now.... wonder why???????????
Uno de los mejores cuerpos de baile. Comedia musical notable desde varias perspectivas. Un mensaje de vida apasionada ¡dorada!
Makes me happy! I love this movie and the finale!
Broadway magic. There is nothing better than a Broadway Musical Finale.
it's like being at Moilin Rouge! I never been at Broadway.... that movie I watch it 30 years ago, and still shaking my emotion
A Chorus Line was everywhere in New York at that time: in commercials for I LOVE NEW YORK ADVERTISEMENT.
WOW! I am bedazzled! Oh, to be young and beautiful again! Such talent, such precision, such joy!!!
I loved this movie, but the ending with the massed dancers made me sad, for all that incredible work and athleticism to be "lost" in the crowd. The individuals are now one organism.
I just cried watching this. Holy fuck, I miss live theatre so so much. It's been a year since I was casted in Follies. We're still waiting to be able to start rehearsing.
Break a leg 🤗
@@TheMagickdavid Thank you!
One of the highlights of my theater going experience was sitting in the 10th row while seeing this on Broadway in 1979!
Zeppolino100 You are so lucky!
I had a front row balcony seat in '81!!!
I saw it in 1979 too! I guess that the original cast was long gone by then, but the show was still a stunner. I also saw the revival in 2008 (with Mario Lopez as the director); it was good, but not quite as exciting as the original. But as they say, you can only be new once!
Loved this movie- Saw it twice on Broadway.
This is one of the greatest all-time dance numbers.
My mother played this movie constantly while I was growing up. I am still in love w it almost 30yrs later. Absolutely cinematic royalty ❤️
PHENOMENAL CHOREOGRAPHY DANCING AND MUSIC!
When I was a teenager, I danced in an ensemble production modeled after the Rockettes, so I know first hand how hard it is to get the entire ensemble to be totally synced in terms of kicks, steps, arms, ALL movements. It takes hours and hours and hours of practice and a bizzilion "do-overs" when just one person effs it up. It's really, really hard work and the truth is, the dance skills aren't as important as your ability to move perfectly in sync with your co-dancers...
Precision! Sharp! Wonderful music!
Such a beautiful family of happiness these actors just wonderful a gem of happiness bueatiful actors at their best thanks for sharing!!!
Fantástico!!!

Espectacular... Bravo 👌!!!
Can't get enough of this.
I never get tired of watching this.
I can’t believe tony and Alex are the solid gold dancers together in chorus line
The chick who falls. 4:14ish. Second row, three in from the right. Once you see it, you'll never unsee it. Poor girl.
I loved and I love too much Chorus Line!!!!!!!!!!The best musical!!!!!
I saw the London production with my dad and two sisters when it opened in 1976. I was 16 and I'll never forget it.
Makes me think of my beautiful sister who died 9 years ago. Miss you so much xx
This is what Musical Theater is about !
It's on in London for a short run at the moment and I'm going to see it this week!! So excited to see it once more!
One of the best musical numbers....ever. Wow.

At the theater in August 1985,Ms Simizu ,I wonder, was dancing among them as a Chinese girl.
映画も感激しますが、舞台の迫力は録画で何度観ても再々度高揚します。ありがとう。

Sensazionale non mi stancherei mai di ascoltare e vedere.
This is the best quality version of this number. An amazing number! How do they hop and kick that high for so long at the end? Amazing!
I wondered that too. First u see the 8 he selected(4 guys,4 girls) ,then you see sheila and the others who were cut, along with the Puerto Rican guy who injured his knee. I figured the closing dance scene was seperate from the actual movie,it was just the entire cast performing(even dancers from the start of movie who were being cut) to the signature number
@@nickatnite16 It's done to make a point about how hard the life of a professional performer really is. Anyone at that audition could have done what was needed for that show. But there are always more performers than parts for them to play, so they have to go through the humiliation of a long audition. Even though they know, and the director knows, that it's all arbitrary - he could take any of them, and the show will be just as good. That's why we see this army of dancers at the end of the movie - it's impossible to tell who are the better dancers, it's barely possible to tell them apart from each other. Their individuality becomes submerged in the crowd. That why I don't like this number - it's brilliantly performed, of course, but to me it's not beautiful - it's tragic.
Actually I think this is one of the easier parts... stamina and flexibility
When I first saw this in the movie and the play, I said to myself I always want to see this exhilarating performance. Awm
FABULOUS,
Beautiful to watch.
Absolutely brilliant. Love it and find it inspiring.
Love the movie. Great video. Each time I watch the video, for some reason I'm captivated by the two errors found at 3:27 and 3:44 where the same person (the Jewish guy, about sixth person from the left in the front row) makes a mistake. You have to wonder if this was done on purpose. In the storyline, the 9th dancer is accepted because she had slept with the choreographer in the past. He created an extra spot just for her, even though she made more mistakes than anyone who had been rejected in the opening. Why is this never questioned. I like this story because in so many ways, it reflects real life no matter what career you enter.
I know this is an old post, but I wanted to reply. I always felt that she wasn't making mistakes. She was desperate to return to work that she was willing to just be in the chorus line instead of the star that she had been and was a natural at. He was upset that he had to force her to tone down her natural talent because she was standing out by being too good. It was sad, pathetic, hard to watch, emotional.
Cassie's story is also based on Donna McKechnie's real life, or two halves of it anyway.
This finale is soooo inspiring to me still! So wonderfully done!!!
The movie was good but nothing like seeing it live on stage. What a thrill.
One of my fave musicals!
Beautiful ... just beautiful !
Absolutely love this. I would love to join in, looks great fun.
I always thought that this play would stay on Broadway forever to introduce new dancers. I 've seen it several times and it was always a little different because of the constant cast change. Loved the fabulous eye trick with the mirrors when to are sitting horizontally in front of the stage.
Película: "A Chorus Line" (Richard Attenborough, 1985). Música: Marvin Hamlisch.
