holy shit, that is so insane one farmboy who was just such an expert marksman he single-handedly racked more than 500 kills in 3 months I doubt I could get even a fraction of that, even if I had years of training, though I would probably deal well with the cold and iron sights aiming better than most people
I have always admired the fact that Simo used a rifle with just good iron sights. He did not bother using the telescopic sights popular with other sharpshooters. He kept his equipment simple and never had to concern himself with whether or not his telescopic sights were in alignment. Nor did light bounce off the front element of a telescopic sight revealing his position. It took saturation mortar bombing to finally stop him.
He forgot to mention that Nagant M/28-30 is also a bolt action rifle, the animation suggest Häyhä was using a semi automatic rifle, so this gives an innaccurate picture of his shooting abilities. A bolt action rifle requires you to basically reset aiming between EVERY shot.
@@sugibudder yeah, it's not the same, but he didn't need to shoot fast. He needed accuracy and the bolt rifle is much more accurate than the automatic one.
@@vitzveer To get 16 hits in a minute you do need to shoot fast, you dont meet many people today that can do the same with a bolt-action rifle, just search the internet for other people attempting it. Also he did need to shoot fast sometimes, after the first shit the enemies would quickly scatter or start to run away, meaning he had a limited time window to kill them or they would get an opporturnity to call for back up which might include artillery or armored vehicles which Simo was defensless against.
@@sugibudder 16 hits in a minute can be done by the expert like him with a bolt rifle. Just to be clear, I agreed with what you said that they inaccurately made it look like he used a semi-automatic rifle,. 😄👍
Correct. He used his own rifle he had used for 20+ years. He was a master using it.
I live in Finland soo... I have known Simo Häyhä for years he was a grate guy:)
03:03 i missed 😫
I’am so proud of my own country Finland. IM proud to be Finnish
The birth of the carrot theory. When it was actually night vision
As a Finn I have to say that those winter temps were just crazy.
holy shit, that is so insane
one farmboy who was just such an expert marksman he single-handedly racked more than 500 kills in 3 months
I doubt I could get even a fraction of that, even if I had years of training, though I would probably deal well with the cold and iron sights aiming better than most people
Cap
I have always admired the fact that Simo used a rifle with just good iron sights. He did not bother using the telescopic sights popular with other sharpshooters. He kept his equipment simple and never had to concern himself with whether or not his telescopic sights were in alignment. Nor did light bounce off the front element of a telescopic sight revealing his position. It took saturation mortar bombing to finally stop him.
This guy was so good, he got a full episode to himself.
not only alot of peple has done films abt him
Great, great story. Wow. I salute him.
Finally a video about the white death
Think about it, all legends are only respected and appreciated when lost.. But they make an everlasting mark to those who hear
This guy was one tough MF. Something else, truly on a mission.
Amazing man.
I'm shocked that you didn't make a pun about his name.
He didn't need a scope, he could just Simo
😂
I'm not Finnish, but if I were I would be proud of that man and thay war, dang what a cool story, and insane legacy of a guy from a farm!
It's like he's preparing himself just for that war for his entire life.
Yeah yeah it's pretty cool😅🎉🎉
Now this man will face off against a God in ragnarok.
Respect for Simo Häyhä from protecting Finland so well. Cause I live in Finland. I find it really funny too how you say his name.
You still have to reset your aiming after every shot in an automatic rifle as well due to the recoil.
@@vitzveer Lets not pretend that shooting fast with a semiautomatic and a bolt-action is the same thing.
I just pointed out that you would have to re aim the semi automatic rifle every time as well, that's all.
I actually heard about this man from The Infographics Show and Thoughty2. As soon as I saw "Greatest Sniper to Ever Live" I was like, "Oh, this must be about Simo Hayha." xD
One of those rare moments where another country was colder than Russia.
wow man, your content is amazing. How do you create such crazy videos.
Can we have the White Feather from the Vietnam War featured in the next video? He is the first man who sniped a target from over a mile away.
that ia shuch a good idea
Carlos Hathcock. LEGENDARY!
Ive heard of this Finnish sniper. The best sniper ever. He seemed to have been a humble man doing his duty.
I guess I was pretty good when I was in boot camp. I was two points away from the lowest marksmanship medal and I had one more left when the whistle blew. For my first time, I'd say that's pretty good
😅🎉❤
I love SIMO! An argument could be also made for others, such as Carlos Hathcock. I even named my SAKO Finnish Mosin Simo.
In Finland it's mandatory to serve in the army
i am a very proud finnish guy altough i live in sweden cuz my grandparents were warchildren who fled from finland in the war

Slick vid.
Nicely done.
Thanks!
He sure was a good sniper. With 505 kills in total. The only thing Finland is good at, it seems like, aside from making good phones
Never underestimate the sauna bath 🛁 and fish head soup.
We make a lot of great things. We just don't brag about them.
Amazing story!
