I finally made it to Thailand last summer! It was amazing and I went to this market. I had quite a few delicious things and returned many times. I stayed at the Alexander Hotel around the corner. Can't wait to go back to Thailand. Also tried green curry in Phuket town and it was made with delicious Thai Eggplant in it.
I am glad to see your son is fully recovered from the injury. He is really adorable and smart! Please say hello to your family for me. Nice video and I start to feel hungry now!
I'm heading back to Phuket (Patong) end of April 2019. Your video's is helping me so much! Cant wait for new video's. Love Love Love you guys! Thanx Darren! South African coming back to Thailand.
I'm from the Caribbean..... so seafood is my LOVE.... So seeing all those different type of seafood made me want to jump on a plane lol .... I would enjoy that night market.... Next thing i love is the fact you can buy your seafood raw and get it cook right in the back and eat it without going far ..... Great stuff......
Thanks a lot Dave, have a great holiday! 👍👍 There are loads more great Phuket food suggestions in my playlist here: ruclips.net/video/esd0O2ZbXTw/видео.html
Hi Darren. We are enjoying our stay in Patong and Phuket. Thanks for writing and thanks for all the good tips. No problem. I thought that you were in the area. Thanks again for all the great videos and tips.
After watching that video I need an aspirin…..... I smiled and laughed all through this video it wasn’t one second that I did not have a smile on my face and that’s why I need an aspirin because my cheeks hurt from smiling for so long just a great great great video Darren very informative very funny a lot of nice banter with your negotiating skills just a great video thank you
I'd be broke after visiting that market! I love seafood of all kinds. I expect in a few years your Son will be more interested in the food vs his video games and your meal costs will go up exponentially ! Thanks for the great videos!
Place is a blast at night. My favorite night market in Patong. Sat on the steps by that end with my grub every night and took it all in. Great to see everyone saying hi to you guys. Good for you man. Merry Christmas!
Great video Darren. I noticed how competitive the venders are. That makes sales better for them all, and great deals for you. It looked like Aorn and Ananda had a great time too. Are all of these markets you visit quite close to your home? That had to be great to have such fresh food at the ready. Have a great weekend hun, hugs to you all 😊
Thanks Gina! Not all the markets we feature are close to home. This one is about 2 and a half hours from home when there's no traffic. Last week's market is about the same distance from home, but 2 hours north from this market. It depends exactly where we are, some of the markets are close to home, others aren't. But we do have lots of markets near home, and heaps of great food to choose from :) Hope you have a great weekend too, hugs back to you 😊
Oh man that looked yummy.... But im going to have to be laid up for about 4 weeks. I had my knee replacement surgery Thursday & thats why im just now getting to the party. Loved this video. Made me hungry for about everything you was eating. Have a great week, Chris from Missouri
I was wondering where you'd got to Chris. Yes, that was a very delicious dinner that one :) Glad you enjoyed the video. You rest up, I hope you're back on your feet soon! All the best, Darren
Great video Darren and Aorn. I've been to this market before during the day but not at night time. Will be visiting for sure. The seafood looks so good!
Hi Darren. My family and I are going to Phuket from February 25 to March 10 and would love to meet you and your family and come along with you guys to one of your market visits. Our treat. Hope we could meet u. We are going from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Thanks a lot, but unfortunately we live a few hours from Phuket, in Krabi. I'm not sure if we'll be able to be in Phuket at that time, but I'll let you know if we can :)
I loved your video so detail. Keep it up. When i first start watching your channel, I thought Orn is your adopted daughter then you mention she the mother of the baby. I was like what, huh!...Long story short I love your videos.
Hi Darren. Pity I didn't check out that market when I was in Patong. Noticed all Thai stall holders spoke English as you'd expect in tourist central. You're as bad as me wanting to pay the right price for food. Worth the effort with seafood which can set you back. Have a great Xmas. It's stinking hot in Cairns. Thai weather would be a relief.
Yes, there are plenty of food choices at that market. Not so many Thai vendors though, most of the staff there are Burmese. Hope you have a great Xmas too Doug. Yes, we're certainly enjoying winter ... going for a chilly 34C today here :)
Good job my friend,!!! another mouth watering vlog... all that goodness cost you under 50 dollars... you pay 70 dollars for lobster tail in a local restaurant in USA
I see they still using old double stack the strainer to add weight. I was surprised one night when I went one night to see how much these things weigh. Bought a lobster and then looked back at the scale. It was almost 426 grams just from the strainers.
Thanks Shaun. We're currently really busy with work and life commitments and I don't have time to make social media content at the moment. We'll be back making videos again when we have time to... whenever that is. Hope you're doing well 🙂 All the best, Darren
Keep doing what you’re doing Darren you should have at least 100k subscribers by now. You have moved up the ranks in my book. Mark Weins and you are my go to food shows now. Food ranger is ok but comes across pretentious and somewhat goofy a lot. You are straight to the point. Great shots of the people in the market and the food of course. Keep up the good work!
Darren, why do you ask for your mantis shrimp more alive? my partner and i are wondering, and trying to remember if our dinner was actively live before it got cooked and served. 😊 we are coming back in 11 weeks! Cant wait.
I explained that in the video - A chef told me that they need to be alive because mantis shrimps degrade very quickly once they're dead. His restaurant is probably the best seafood restaurant I've ever eaten at (Rim Lay Seafood in Nakhon Si Thammarat) and he told me for the best mantis shrimp experience use the big ones and they need to be alive prior to being prepared. Hope you have a great holiday :)
You are good at bargain it’s kinda sad seeing the seller face , Anyway I love Asian seafood than American style i have to bring chili sauce all the time 🦞
Yes, you certainly wouldn't get as much seafood for the same money in Aus. At touristy markets like this one haggling is expected and factored into the price, unless the price is displayed, in which case haggling usually won't get you anywhere.
Cheers mate. Patong (where this video was filmed) is one of the most expensive places in Thailand. Having said that we got a 900 gram crayfish cooked for $22.67 Australian ... that's a pretty good price in my humble opinion. Here's a recent video we made in Patong showing what we could find to eat for one day on a budget of $5 US ($7.22 AU) per person: ruclips.net/video/7niY7IM6K1U/видео.html
I couldn’t take my eyes off all that beautiful looking seafood. Thank you Darren with your wife and son ❤️❤️❤️
Another classic Darren. You certainly know how to live well. Many thanks to you again and best wishes to the family.

Absolutely true what you say about the dipping sauces (around the 18:00 mark). My mouth literally watered when I saw the dip, not the food!
