Hava Nagila was my mother's favorite song. She passed away in 2006 nearing her 97th birthday and we told the funeral parlor we wanted to play it at her funeral. They were totally shocked and said that isn't done. We asked, "Why not? She would have wanted people to be happy and it was her favorite. " and there was no answer. Finally the chagrined funeral director said, "Have it your way." She would have LOVED this rendition. Afterwards, the funeral director said, "Thank you for allowing me to be part of this celebration of her life."
Thank you for your post. My father is 90 years old in ICU with only a couple more days to live. This also was one of his favorite songs, that's why I have been listening to it and came across this rendition. I was thinking of playing Hava Nigila at his funeral to celebrate his life not to mourn but thought it was inappropriate. But after reading your story it's a done deal. Thanks again G-D bless you
Thank you so much!!! I come from a family that lives in the cuontry in GA and are strong Christians. I married into a Jewish family and we are all very close! This version made my wedding so special!!!! Using this song also gave both sides of our family some insight CUFI. It was perfect!!
It should IMNSHO be sung very loud and full tempo from the beginning. No slow time. Just get right into it. And it is a song to raise morale. It is a song about winning a terrible, horrible war. So when you teach it you should teach it correctly. Nothing wrong with inserting your own familial ... considerations into the lyrics. The important thing is, raise morale for Israel and for being Jews, and also, teach the children to have high morale for being alive. This song is kinda weird however, the Ozarks were populated by Jews. So to call this song Texas Style is a bit phoney; this style of folk fiddling is Ozarks, not Texas. Those "folks" from the Ozarks are the ones who went westward to work as cattlehands and so on, and brought that folk music with them.
@@tonyalb3863 ...not if you've ever heard of the foreign policy strategy. Israel is The ally and the very country via which USA exercises its control in the Middle East. Clearly you have no understanding of what would be the consequences otherwise or the happiness Israelis have being always at war in their own country, constantly losing soldiers and civilians (including children), only to be accused throug media by so many not knowing what is actually happening! And oh boy: don't they just love sending some rockets from kinder gardens and so called hospitals?!. Higher pathetically speaking, how many rockets sent straight into US civilian areas would be needed before the country will retaliate with full force into its neighbouring country where these rockets would keep coming from non-stop? Yet Israel doesn't do it and not sure how much more patience they will have... Only imagine, that so many even get to say something against Israel, as it would be something important and meaningful in the given context above! (with all do respect, democracy never implied that an opinion doesn't have to be informed or intelligence doesn't have to be applied.)
What a spirited, happy rendition of this song! I wish I lived in Texas to be able to meet these worshipers in person and to be able to join them for one of their church services and share the love. If only there were more people, such as this congregation, to spread happiness to everyone.
France had war with Great Britain then both had war against Germany. Now they are all living in peace and benefiting each other. USA had civil war between North and South. Now it is a united country. Arab Israeli conflict is part of the past. Israel is a modern state just like many modern states; for example Bahrain, Qatar even USA (1776) are modern state. Peace negotiations are the only solution for Palestine. I hope you will be able to make peace.
Absolutely amazing! Wonderful group of people. Thank you for posting and being such amazing friends to the state of Israel. G-d Bless America and Israel!
I loved it on so many levels. It is so joyous to the ear. Knowing who is doing this, is even more joyous to my heart. Thank you, all of you who were any part of this, certainly including the audience.
Fantastic! You guys pulled that off really good. It made me happy and wish I was there. I really would like to visit Cornerstone sometime. God Bless You All......Shalom
So touching, so lively, so lovely with a good old Texas twang, love it, thank you, one of the best and most energetic versions of this song I have ever heard.
GOD BLESS AMERICA! We're witnessing biblical prophesies coming true. "Those who bless you, I shall bless.." Hava Neranena means "let us rejoice" Let us truly rejoice... God bless you all...
Thank you for this lovely, and lively, rendition. We all have to continue to believe that with a little respect and a little understanding, we can all bask in G-D's light. G-D bless the Christian churches and their members for their support of Eretz Yisrael and the people of the Book.
I can't get enough of this; it has all my favorite things in one: a Jewish melody, great singing voices, American and Israeli flags, a wonderful fiddle solo, and a building full of TEXANS! We love you guys and appreciate your support more than words can say.
The Cornerstone Church located in S.Antonio in Taxis and pastors name is John Hagee. I recognized him and his son among people on stage. Wonderful people and wonderful act. Thank you very much.
Wonderful! I wish this video had been part of the recent documentary called "Hava Nagila", a semi-tongue-in-cheek look, semi-nostalgic and meaningful look at the history of the happy song, a song of joy & celebration and it's roots in the ancient Jewish way of humming/singing/emoting an emotional joyous toon without lyrics (called a 'nigune'). It humorously delves into how this song has evolved, even internationally, even amongst non-Jewish cultures. If anyone is interested in it, I am sure it is available online for viewing.
Thank you all very much for your kind comments. It is always our privilege to show unconditional love and support for Israel and the Jewish people. May God bless you and may God bless Israel. John Gross, Minister of Music Cornerstone Church, San Antonio, Texas

For some reason watching the flags wave to the beat of the music is really adorable. It’s such a simple action but it’s very heartwarming.
Thank you so so much for your unwavering support (I'm an Orthodox Jew).
Thank-you for your post, The world needs more decent , open minded folks like yourself. I wish you much health and happiness in your life.
I don't think YHWH finds it offensive, it is a song of joy and rejoicing in good. May we be more understanding and unified in that good.
