Consider this example GS Smoothe : Having Long UNCUT Hair BUT celebrating diwali, not teaching kids your history and language, hiding facts about 4 Sahibzada (because it mite scare them) and instead celebrating x-mas, naming ur kids ed,ted and tom since u afraid what people might think. Compare that to a Sikh who HAS HAIRCUT but celebrates bandi chor and teaching kids and society about Sikh history and language. Tells his children and friends about 4 Sahizada, celebrating their courage and being proud not having himself and his childrens name anglicized. Wjkk wjkf! Turban is 1 of the 5 K’s that’s one fact Bcz it’s kakka keski , kakka kanga, kakka kara, kakka kirpan, kakka kachera. Many ppl do this wrong. Im NOT saying now that we are aloud to cut our hair, but we have the. Keski to protect our uncut hair! The reason is Bcz look we get hair from when we’re born, but Guru sahib can’t give us again hair so he gave the keski to protect It! Eating meat is also wrong, for example ( it’s true tho) a cow can be 15 yrs old , but what we ppl do is letting the cow die when it’s 4 yrs old! How young is that!!! I get that there's a akhand Path is going on but at least come on the Path's bhog (there's only 20 people).You guys would have to do a program there at Bandi Chor evening when people come. It's ridiculous. There are also people I know that call themselves "Sikhs" when they don't even know anything about Sikhi and Gurbani.

I guess you'll have to start taking classes if you're actually serious about growing in sikhi. I was born in England, and so I find speaking it very unnatural, but I can understand everything in punjabi pretty easily. Just keep on practicing until you get better I guess...
This video is awesome. Never shy away from being a sikh. Who ever says you dnt know because u are a gori need to shut up and listen. Sikhs have not kept any independence from other faiths and communities who wish to convert us or the very minimum change our religion so its more islamic or Christian. My observation concludes that people make the name of religion their identity and their lives go by solidifying this identity. Prostrating, celebrating and rituals becomes routine further dividing humanity into identities.
I think celebrating X-mas and Holiday/Diwali is fine for a Sikh. Sikhi believes in one God who loves everybody equally, One invisible power, no idol, do not accept any human to be a God, but Sikh should be very liberal and respectful to other religions. This is easily one of the most articulate, succinct and comprehensive summary of the problems in the Sikh panth, that if unaddressed, can lead to the demise of Sikhi. Well done!
We must remind ourselves that Sikhi is Guru Nanak's great religion that delivered justice and equality to all, irrespective of race, gender, caste and religion. The same religion without which Indianism couldn't even have survived. Heck, if it wasn't for Guru Gobind Singh and the Khalsa panth, we'd prolly all be muslims. We must do our best to embrace the unique heritage we have inherited and let the flower of Sikhi blossom, as opposed to ditching it altogether because it's "inconvenient."

Even if she had mentioned cutting hair, +GS Smoothe you were going to say "she dint mention drinking", or eating meat, etc.
And even though a Sikh should not cut his/her hair, I certainly aware of many Sikhs who have haircuts but are very passionate and knowledgeable about Sikhi.

Having Long UNCUT Hair BUT celebrating diwali, not teaching kids your history and language, hiding facts about 4 Sahibzada (because it mite scare them) and instead celebrating x-mas, naming ur kids ed,ted and tom since u afraid what people might think.
Compare that to a Sikh who HAS HAIRCUT but celebrates bandi chor and teaching kids and society about Sikh history and language. Tells his children and friends about 4 Sahizada, celebrating their courage and being proud not having himself and his childrens name anglicized.

The reason is Bcz look we get hair from when we’re born, but Guru sahib can’t give us again hair so he gave the keski to protect It!
Eating meat is also wrong, for example ( it’s true tho) a cow can be 15 yrs old , but what we ppl do is letting the cow die when it’s 4 yrs old!

I would have to agree with you. On Bandi Chor Divas, the Darbar Sahib is absolutely full and you see faces that you never see in the year! I know people at the Gurdwara because I'm a local goer. People don't even go on Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Gurpurb. There's only about 3 people in Darbar. I get that there's a akhand Path is going on but at least come on the Path's bhog (there's only 20 people).You guys would have to do a program there at Bandi Chor evening when people come. It's ridiculous. There are also people I know that call themselves "Sikhs" when they don't even know anything about Sikhi and Gurbani.

I disagree with u. You can't compare this with a tree. Bandi Chot and the rest of this have never been part of roots. These roots have never been outlined as roots. One of many roots of Bani says " Gali jog na hoi, ek Drist kar some sar janey, jogi kahia soi" The one who looks upon all and knows that we are all equals is a Jogi, one who gives sermons is not.
This should be a root, not your name and occasion that you celebrate.

I am an older adult who is interested in Sikhism but I don’t speak a word of Panjabi. How am I to grow in Sikhism if I can’t understand what is being said?
I guess you'll have to start taking classes if you're actually serious about growing in sikhi. I was born in England, and so I find speaking it very unnatural, but I can understand everything in punjabi pretty easily. Just keep on practicing until you get better I guess...

This video is awesome. Never shy away from being a sikh. Who ever says you dnt know because u are a gori need to shut up and listen. Sikhs have not kept any independence from other faiths and communities who wish to convert us or the very minimum change our religion so its more islamic or Christian. Sikhs only believe in the gurus word. Sikhs have been Instructed to ignore all other maan maaat and not believe in the Quran Vedas and other books and their opinion of god and his laws this needs to be reinforced and practiced by sikhs and singhs and your parcharaks should be putting this out to the sangat via social media and other platforms otherwise over a long peroid of time ur sikhi will finish. Sikh and singhs should be taught to shout from their chests their uniqueness in look and belief sikhs are sovereign they are not Muslim Hindu or Christian and neither do we agree with what they beieve. Lack of gurmatshalla also are adding to ur problems. No sikh child knows anything about their religion just a walking empty shell.

I absolutely hate it when Punjabi people keep fighting each other. That’s also how and why they are killing Sikhi for the community. When you fight each other, you can’t see the bigger problem, and if you’re divided, you can’t solve the bigger problems that affect the community… I hate these Gurdwara committee members who always cheat and lie their way in an election and use that money for stupid stuff rather than caring for the community by making places of learning to hire teachers for the children to learn about Sikhi and learn Gurmukhi effectively than they do now.

I don't think pronouncing the name differently doesn't really kill Sikhi. The thing that is killing Sikhi is people cutting their hairs and some parents don't make their kids Sikh because they be like I don't want my kids to go through the pain that kids with hair do .
