Heck yeah I love Toby's Plane, those grooved tyres are nuts! I bet that makes for much better braking! Hope you or at least someone there gets some footage of the races! Wish I could be there! Cheers from Down Under!
Nice mark, thank you for the insight I don't do competition of any kind anymore and never did stol com. Now mine with 467# empty weight, 160 HP , and 144 sq ft. doesn't seem so impressive. LOL
a completely normal thought. how can a person be a world champion in a sport that only exists in one country (America) you have the madness of greatness he is possibly a National champion in this flying sport 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Talk about radical is when you see a huge plane that can touch down, slow down, throw the juice to her and just seconds is back in the air. This video for me anyway didn't show it flying. Yet, what's the maintenance on it??
The time is right for a down and back, electric STOL Dragster. (Maybe not in Reno, but as a trailered plane in the High Desert....) Mike and Mark should be able to make this happen. Basically there will be no limit: how about...1000HP, with 5 minute reserve. . - OK, I did the (very basic) math, with the Latest "most revolutionary" batterychem, 750HP needs around 30kg of batteries per minute of PowerOn time... (66Lb per minute) - that is up to 85Lb per minute for 1000HP (Nitrous is lighter) OK More Numbers - Fuel to do the same thing 11lb - and the Engine capable of outputting 1000HP.
I think Mike during an interview in the past has hinted at making an all-electric purebred STOL-drag/competition aircraft sometime after Scrappy. We know he definitely know Draco X and Ballistic are next, so it will probably be a while before we see that happen, but I can't wait for the day he attempts something like that. An all-electric practical "eSTOL" bushplane is what GA could really use right now in the age of countless autonomous eVTOL startups. I'm all for electrifying general aviation and I think it would REALLY open GA to more people, but next to no startups are focused on smaller electric traditional/GA-type aircraft, only eVTOL's and airliners.
How American to have a world champion in a competition the rest of the world isn't in. But that's a hell of a plane, and I wonder what Steve Henry will do now.
I am afeared that at some point someone is going to torque roll one of these aircraft types right into the ground. Inverted and fatally. I sure hope I'm wrong about that.
Custom built competition airplanes is what needs to happen in the STOL competitions. No more factory airplanes. High performance custom experimental only.
When a Patey is impressed it has to be outstanding. Got to be close to zero take off. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
no i dont. U dont have your minde to think whid are u just a follower and a yes sayer ????
That plane is insane, hope he has a build page somewhere or decides to make his own videos. 400+ hp and well under 1000 pounds.. insane.
I've seen this airplane up close. I was impressed.
You can tell he’s not playing around! 👍
Best reuse of a plastic shopping bag ever. Thanks!
Great seeing you and getting the chance to compete against you at High Sierra - Thanks for the tips, for being awesome, and heal soon Mark!

Missed that detail, thanks. Man that is hardcore!

Finally!!! Stop Steve from winning!! I approve Toby's airplane 🤣🤣
At what point do we go from STOL to VTOL? Seems like this might be blurring that line!
Wow, I never imagined a chain reduction drive capable of 400 HP and about 10,000 RPM on the drive sprocket!
Greetings from the automotive community.
Holy fucking shit this is absolutely mental. I want one
Yeah and its covered in Oratex6000 (that is NOT a painted airplane)
It is interesting how its reducer works
Thanks for the interesting video Mark.
I just wonder how long that engine lives before something fails in that souped up configuration of boosted and nitrous !!
SWEET. I HAVE TO CHANGE MY LIFE... This is what I need in my life. Thanks for the video bud. Do more.

I caught that too? How many international competitors are there? And how many competitions?
@@tomcoryell i have not seen or heard of any Swedish Stol compitioner or any one from Europe so call them self world Cham little to big to do
Steve Henry's nightmare

That is a neat aircraft!
Cant wait to see how Steve Henry responds
Now that's impressive.
Does he have a channel? Love to see some plane drags
Looks like he got rid of the slats and put smaller tires on it. Sweet bird!
Nitrous, when you want power, Right Now!
Nice, thanks!
Bringing a gun to a knife fight! 😂👍

None is stopping anyone else from competing. The competition as to who can get flying soonest has been around since the second airplane ever flew.
Oshkosh has many world travelers. Steve Henry took first place this year.
800 pounds, does it classify as a lights port aircraft?😁
when you can take off and land on zero to 1 foot, then i ll be impressed..
doc johnny
nato sicily
With a 15 knot wind I'll bet it could jump in the air lol.
It won't be long until these things have negative takeoff distances.
Chain drive?

00:55 are those grooves cut into the tires? Or marker stripes?
Looks like grooves for some bite when stopping.
Never count Steve Henry out.
Leonardo-Finmeccanica has a 20,000 lb lift cargo plane that can do that
How much did it cost?
thats the first time i have seen a FMIC on a plane! very cool setup.
anyone know what supercharger its runnning ?

ROFLMAO wear face tattoos if you can say so. The plane boss.
NOT what STOL coemption was ever about.
