We're back at it again in Grand Junction, CO for another awesome ride and this time we are at the Kokopelli trail center riding the Horsethief Trail!
Today I take Seth to meet the Horsethief Bench, one of the most infamously techy starts to a trail in the country, one that I myself only met last year for the first time. After seeing how good Seth is at reading line choices blind on the rock roll on the Ribbon trail, I had a fun idea of letting him roll into this gnarly rock mess without giving him any beta to see how he would fare. I think the result speaks volumes for just how crazy this spot is!
In addition to the Bench entrance this trail has loads of fun tough and techy spots to session, so you better believe we stopped and challenged ourselves to clean everything! I continued to surprise myself and give into the peer pressure of Seth as we proved just how beneficial it can be to ride with other good riders that will push your limits.
Overall we had another amazing ride and yet again an amazing crew including my friends Sheyn (aka the Crashing Dad on RUclips) and Spencer which always makes for an even more fun ride.
I'm so pumped on how this road trip is shaping up, and can't wait to share more with you all.
Until then... LFRHGS!
-Alexander
p.s. SO STOKED that so many of you are picking up the new Broken not Buried T shirts!! I seriously cannot wait for them to ship out so that I can see you rocking them in some photos!!
LFRHGS!

That moment when you're right in the middle of an epic rally race with your buddy and you spot an incoming rider. It's like getting caught screwing off in school and you're still trying to act like you weren't doing what they clearly saw you doing. Love it! 🤘
The reason why you guys are such bad ass Mountain bikers is you guys never give up until you clear each section. That is so impressive. I need to do a better job at that if I’m to ever get to your level.
Solid work!!
Solid work to you and your channel
The more I ride, the more I realize that attitude is EVERYTHING! I do videography for NICA Alabama and just to see the attitude of those kids, it's great. Alex and Seth keep up the great attitudes on the trail. You wouldn't believe how many kids at a race would ask me if I had ever heard of you guys! I actually heard about you guys from them!
Again, keep up the great attitudes!!
Happy trails!
I can’t watch your vids in public anymore! When people around me hear the heavy breathing, they think I’m watching porn!!! 😂
😂😂😂
On a more serious note, it does take out of the fun of watching this... also the random loud screaming (though not too bad in this particular video)
Not only do they think you're watching porn, but probably gay porn... considering All the various "yeah boy"
Travis Campbell oh God!! Thanks for uncovering another level of creepy!!! 😂
+cucu if only there were some way you could turn down the volume, like a button or something
Did this trail yesterday and got to see the beginning in person. I have so much more respect for you guys for cleaning it. You are not" mere mortals".
I've been trying to get the balls to do the horse theft bunch for a while now! Talk about determination! I can't believe how much you guys have improved!!! Epic work boys!
I tried riding UP that for a Trail Boss vid back in June. It was 101 degrees. It didn't go so well. Lol
To this day I've only seen that one dude do it
Me too. And it was edited up!
Going back this winter then?
That was the plan!
Technically speaking, this trail is the definition of technical!
At around 4:24 mark as was just pointed out to me, a cool fellow rider/Sherpa who i didnt even know helped me, an aging biker with a previous spinal cord injury 5 yrs ago, with my bike dropping into Horsethief. We all look out for each other. Thanks again!!
Watching Seth get mad and throwing his bike at putting a foot down on the easy part...priceless.
Alex, watching your video was interrupted by a fire drill. Can you believe that? Don't they know I'm getting stoked over here?
2:55 - Okay, for certain I would never in a million years try riding this line. Hell I don't know if I could walk it, either.
3:59 - Wow, Seth just insists on riding it without putting a foot down, doesn't he? I would have been perfectly happy with just making it down alive. Haha!
6:14 - Dude, good work! You guys are persistent. After watching y'all it doesn't look all that difficult. I need to remind myself that the camera makes things look easier than they really are.
6:27 - Nice big rock.
7:35 - "We're going to get to some fun spots here in a sec." What you just rode through looked pretty fun, dude!
7:50 - Oh I see. THAT'S your idea of fun. Haha!
8:30 - That looks very narrow. I don't think I'd have the guts to try and ride that.
It was good to see you shredding this one, Alex. I can tell you're still high from the events of your previous video. It was educational watching y'all session the hard parts here, too. Good video overall. Thanks for taking us with you.

Love ur vids honestly they are awesome! Thanks for being enthusiastic!
Thanks Zachary!! I honestly couldn't help it if I tried... mtb just that great!
Love that you covered all of the tries on that gnarly section of Horsethief. When you're traveling to an area like that, there's always that lingering question..."Do I want to attempt that and risk an injury that's going to ruin my trip, or did I not drive all this way to take the Sally lines?" We were barely started into UPS in Moab when I went OTB on a blind rock drop with a rock under it, and as I was going OTB I was spittin' mad thinking, "So stupid...if I can't ride this trail I'm going to be so pissed!" You took one tumble there that was scary and could have gotten an ankle or hand pretty easily. You and Seth are good at bailing!!
What always strikes me as odd is that Seth's so short that he really can't get back as far as most people can to achieve more stability on the really steep techy stuff. It's truly a disadvantage for him in some respects.
haha that's too true as we've seen me do last year!
Jan 26th...Upper Buffalo Headwaters Challenge. Epic ride....had over 400 riders there last year. If you and Seth get bored, you should come back to Bentonville and join us for that OORC sponsored ride. Craft beer on tap, live band, and 27 miles of backwoods group riding with aid stations, and grilled smoked bacon at the halfway point. It's awesome! It may be cold, but we suffer together my friend!
I like that you ride stuff over and over till you get it right, or you come back another time and nail it!
Thank you for your very authentic vlog. I really enjoy seeing and discussing the process of working out lines on complex technical trails.
Alex, I feel your riding has progressed so much in the past few months. You're just so much more confident and are ripping up everything you ride - its awesome to watch. Well done mate! And for what its worth Seth, @ 3:47, I would've given that to you!
He had the pucker surgery and bleaching.
I’m so impressed y’all both cleaned that
First video I saw of yours was horsethief last year. Very fun watching you guys ride
This video shows the GoPro affected like crazy it is so much bigger in person, keep up the great work love your videos
I love this trail. Hopefully I can get out there in a couple weeks if it isn't too cold.
Seth: Oh so we're doing some really gnarly and techy stuff today? Time to leave my new POC knee pads in the trailer, and let's not even think about bringing some elbow pads either!...
Now that I've demod a nomad... that thing is a monster of a bike, you can just plow through anything. Good bike for sure
My friend says I rode down that when we were out there in 2013, I don't remember except do recall getting into something without realizing the danger and having to ride it to survive. Whew!
WE GOT BEER!!.....that was a great ending to some sweet riding. We end our rides the same way out here in Jalisco, Mex..Cheers
It's lines like that that keep the bike industry alive!
hahahaha yea that definitely put a small beating on my bike XD
Awesome riding! I like that you shared the attempts too, instead of just editing to show a one attempt superstar run. Good stuff!
I really like the sessions. I've been doing that in a couple of spots on a half marathon I have coming up in 2 weeks. The kind of stuff I'll hike -a-bike if I have a gap, but will attempt to clear it if someone's on my wheel. As usual, my fav UTUBE ride vids.
Sweet riding Alex. Seth is a boss tricking off of that ledge.
The last few vids have been sick. Keep that progression up mange !!! Yeeeewwwwww !!!!
Damn, dude. I've been riding off and on for over 20 years now, and that trail looks intimidating. And fun.
For some reason videos from this part of the world really intrigue me. The terrain is just so exposed, gnarly, and SHARP. It just shows how capable these bikes are...Anyway, another great video Alex \m/
Yea the west slope of CO and Moab are definitely unique in their exposure + rock combo. Not a forgiving place at all, but if you can handle it, super fun!
Single Track is riding 10x better than before!!!!
So nice to see the homies riding together!
THIS WAS SO FUN!
Did you clear thief drop yet?
hamstergraphics - not yet... I can get to the notch... That's about it so far. I had a pretty sweet bail (in Seth's vid)

The Crashing Dad sweet. Nice colab! I wish i was back there.
hamstergraphics - we've got amazing trails :)
Great stuff Alex, you are cleaning everything.
Awesome video you and Seth have inspired me to get back on a bike after 10 yrs and start a channel in the spring
oh Huch yea Donnie!! So stoked you are back in the saddle. Hope you are loving it!
Hey Seth & Alexander,
Thanks for giving our premier Fruita loop some great coverage plus some very fun session work on the Horsethief drop-in. And, thanks for stopping in at Over The Edge to say hello!
Our pleasure guys! Great town you got there with amazing riding community - we'll be seeing ya next year again for sure!!
Great ride. It’s fun to watch the struggles of the sessions. I’m gonna have to drive out there in the spring!
Gotta show the work going into clearing some of those harder lines - just makes it that much better when finally cleared!
Nice sessions. That's the way to do it! Classic ride too. Happy Trails
"Now it's time for some real good fun" Hell yes! That thin bit of track with the exposure would have sketched me out. Cant wait for you to head to San Diego some day bro
That bench is terrifying dude. Good job
That trail looks so epic!!! Bet that was a blast!!
Lol!!!! when you we're fast forward and just listen to what was going on as you were climbing that Hill...
WOW..that was a GNARLY line..I questioned you on facebook about this one but you got it..RAD!!
Awesome as always. Love your energy, man!
Alex great video! You and Seth rock. You don't give up. And you keep a great attitude! Hope you can make Seth's guided trip in November.
Another great vid man keep it up! This just makes me wanna go out for a ride!
That slayer is sick. "Love the Ride"
Super sick line boys! And loved the camera work - another nice one!
Amazing riding guys! And equally great editing work!
if you grow your beard long enough, you can incorporate it into your Gopro to stop all that nasty wind noise xD
Cool new design shirt Alex and Awesome BOX jersey Seth!!!
Love it bud! Watching this morning as I gear up for a ride. Keep up the stoke!
Awesome run Alex, now it gets better from here.
Seth is the new bike throwing master.
Loving the different camera angles...Good job!
Thanks James! It's so great to have some helping hands out there filming!
why are you still on 62 subs. Your channel deserves more man. love your vids!!!
Dude! your progression is crazzzzyy
Great ride & video man. Hopefully you'll have another one ready in the morning while I'm drinking my coffee again.
I'm sitting here drinking my second right now!
I love the occasional beard slip into the screen. Let’s you know how steep the decent is lol
I like when he throws the bike. I love when people are that into their sport.
Well done on the bench. Locals call the line through the notch the cheater line, but it's still very difficult. The cheater line gets its name due to all the rock stacking/placement that people were doing to make it more rideable... Impressive quick 3 off the tiny drop!!!
"Whooo yeah boys" should be your channels merch tag line.
Nice job clearing all that tech! Trips are never long enough... Wanted to ride this again this year but didn't get to. Still don't think I have that entrance or that step up. Maybe next year!
Man you guys got that 1 section done perfect after more tries then i have just said like the one guy just take my bike i going to walk it
Awesome Trail. Super Gnarly Rocks. thanks Alex
Cheers mrclean!
Wow those rocks are HUGE , regards from Argentina
What's up Santiago!
Gonna have to stick that one on my list.
There's a point where when riding gets so technical it isn't even fun anymore, this just doesn't look like fun to me.. I'm glad you guys can take it because I would have had to make a hospital trip! Lol
Really liked the video, trying a section until you clean it and giving betas reminds me of bouldering
"Ya Boi!" when you know its rad
Great location...so quiet out in that area.
a few beast mode moments!
Wow! Knarly stuff. Kudos for keeping at it till you got it! I would be walking it! 🤓🇨🇦
This was sick! I need to practice my 360's so I can just whip one out of my back pocket like Seth!
Love this trail, love this channel
Way to go Alex! Yeahh boy!!
I need to get out there! Terrain looks amazing 😍
Absolutely dude, it would be a seriously stark contrast to the riding out in your neck of the woods!
I want to call you a spazz but since I can't ride that drop-in I won't be doing that... R E S P E C T.
"Yeah boys"
Direct quote from Jesus
Another awesome vid!
Bikes were taking a beating on this day boys!
Hey Alex,love the videos mate.
Oh man I got to get to Colorado!!!
I've ridden this trail and GoPro doesn't do that ledge justice. A fall to the left there isn't a couple of feet, it's more like 5 or 6. Nicely done!
Still waiting for Drama jersey and Single Sampler jersey too!!!!👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Perfect vid & ride!
Amazing!!
nasty rock section, well done
Great video!
I like that recap intro.
Thanks dude! I think I'll incorporate it more often!
That is my fav ride
There's a video of a guy riding up this. "FRUITA, Colorado Mountainbike Trail - Up & Down !!!" Pretty amazing.
I've definitely seen that, it's ridiculous!!
Definitely not meant to diminish what you guys did. That is an amazing feat by itself. Stay stoked! Glad you're getting to ride some stuff in our beautiful state. Next time you're out here check out the Blackjack Trail in the Buffalo Creek area. I've got a video I posted on it. Check it out if you'd like.
Glad you cleared what u miss last time bro
I got it last time too!! Just not first try :D
Truly impressive Alex! I'd have to say I wonder how you guys sit on the saddle with the large juevos it takes to hit some of the stuff you guys hit! Awesome!
😂😂😂
Nice one Sampler😉 👍
Alex great ride loads of improvement would be great to put a link at the end of the video to last years video so we can all compare.
Awesome 🤙
another great vid Alexander you seem to have gotten over the bad fall you had really well and your confidence is inspiring.... I was just wondering what tyres you guys use they look like Minions?
cheers from OZ :-)
