- In this video, we head to Mae Hia Market in south Chiang Mai in search for one of the traditional Northern Thai dishes we haven’t tried yet - Sai Ua, or Northern Thailand Sausage.
A coiled, spicy sausage that is native to Northern Thailand and East Myanmar, Sai Ua is VERY aromatic, full of herbs, and of course - spicy. Did I like it? Is Northern Thai Sausage worth it? Find out!
After exploring the market we headed back to our Hotel (yes, we moved out of our apartment!) to discuss something big - you have to stick around to hear!

I just watched a few youtubers who left Thailand to other countries said the same thing, when they entered the countries they gained more views from the citizens but when they departed the views drop. But not from Thailand, Thailand viewers still followed them along. I guess it is because we tend to like the vloggers’ personality. The inside of sausage is Pork with Thai Curry Paste which is lot of herb inside like turmeric, lemon grass, shallot, garlic, chili, shrimp paste and more. It's very herby and juice pork sausage.

Sausage Ingredients
Pork with mashed potatoes 1.5 kg
Spring onions, coriander, chopped together 1 cup Kaffir lime leaves, chopped 2tablespoons Turmeric powder 1 tablespoon 4 tbsp red curry paste 1 teaspoon brown sugar 2 tablespoons soy sauce 3 tbsp fish sauce 3 tablespoons oyster sauce Young intestines for stuffing
Ingredients for making chili paste 2 large dried chilies, soaked in water Dried chilies, about 1 cup, or as you like 10 cloves of garlic 6 shallots 3 lemongrass 1 tbsp kaffir lime skin 3 tablespoons of galangal 2 tablespoons sliced turmeric 3 tablespoons coriander root 1 teaspoon shrimp paste Coriander, roasted cumin - pound 3 teaspoons
Tumeric and spices! No wonder it was yellow! Hahah thank you for this! 🙏🏻😁

soup that they gave you is for refreshing your mouth and help you push some of the dry Thai dish to go down your throat easier, just drink a spoon full of that soup between your meal or when needed. If you really don't wqnt it you can just say "no thank"(mai ow kaaa)when they gave you the soup. I hope you come back, and Good luck for what ever you plan to do next.

I knew the best way to renew your visa in Thailand is to visit another country nearby then fly back so you can get more 3 months free visa plus explo more country. Eventually i am glad you mentioned you still come back to Thailand you can also treat Thailand as a traveling hub for explore more SEA regions yeah 2birds in one stone bon voyage :).
Of course! We don’t get 3 months though when we come back in, only 30 days then extend 30 days, maybe because we’re Australian? But we wanted to travel a little if we were going to fly out anyway 😁 but we will be back very soon and then again at the end of the year!! Thank you for watching 😩😩😁😁😁😁

That sausage is my favorite!! Locals normally have it as a appetizer with other paste (Nam Prik Noom) and crispy pork skin (Kap Moo).
You can sip that clear soup after each bite of main dish. Some people don’t drink water during the meal, so they have a litte bowl of soul instead.
the soup that accompanies rice dishes are meant to help you, for lack of a better terms, lubricate your throat as you eat. rice dishes can be dried so, instead of drinking water (or other beverages), you have a soup to sip.
in the future, when ordering something like pad grapow, you might ask for "ped noi tee soot" (essentially, the least spicy possible). some dishes can be adjusted to lower the heat level to accommodate while others cannot.
sai ua is unquestionably spicy. it isn't just you. when i was a kid, i couldn't handle spicy AT ALL (only marginally better now) - no joke, i couldn't eat noodle dishes if they didn't listen and added white pepper - and when i had basically the same amount you ordered and went through a full head of lettuce to try to cope. so, uh, it isn't just you but you might consider lettuce (or other veggies) as accompaniment to cool it down.
HAHHA OK THANK YOU!!! Now I don’t feel like I’m just being a baby 😂😂 next time I’ll buy a bunch or 2 of lettuce and drink some milk 🥛 😂😂😂 thank you!! 🙏🏻😁

Thai spicy Some of them have their reasons.
such as the sausage that you eat When he eats a lot, he will have a greasy appearance of fat. The person doing it will make it spicy. The spiciness doesn't just come from chili peppers. but will also come from certain herbs.
The broth that comes with stir-fried basil is used to relieve stiffness from eating. It eases the throat and reduces the symptoms of spiciness in another direction.

Tip for northern/north eastern spicy food is sticky rice.
the sticky rice much sweeter than normal rice if you chew it long enaugh.
this eat combination theory is good for thai spicy food if you feel spicy just follow up by chew sticky rice.
you also can still do the same with normal rice if it spice just half spoon of rice and chew it a litle longer than usual.
Do not drink water after you eat spicy food the water will spread spiciness all over your mouth and make it worst for one who can't stand with spicy.
The soup you got with the pad grapao moo is, more or less, a ckicken broth. Very tasty and lessens the spice taste a little.
