I have the 2005 Ford explorer, and it has an emergency fuel shut off switch under on passenger side wall by top door hinge by glove box. I'm not sure if that model your working on had this but, before I shut off engine I pressed The fuel shut off switch of a minute and that removed fuel from line before I removed fuel pressure sensor switch. Ford put this feature to shut off fuel in case of accident that involves fuel leaking after an accident. But I used it for repair purposes also.
I have not had that problem with either of my vehicles, but know what to look for when I do have that problem, and how to replace the part. Thanks for the information and hope you and your family have a nice weekend.
Thank you Jim mine is a 85 Ford Ranger 4×4 lite truck w V6 2.8L.your first video I found immediately greatly praiseworthy. Now my fuel gauge works ran both 9 volt tester on both connectors and ohm. Check .how do I remove the Sensor on this just behind the seat or at the fenderwell ? Getting purty good at this 😎

Will a bad fuel rail sensor cause the engine to stall? I have a 2003 Ford Sport Trac (same engine lay out as the vehicle in this video)that stalls out in heavy stop and go traffic yet runs fine on the highway. Shop had it for two weeks and couldn't find anything wrong. Stalled out on me the next day. This seems to be something I could do myself. Thanks
@The Mythology Turned out to be a short in the inertia (fuel) cutoff switch. Replaced switch ,(melted) plug and fuel pump relay. It was getting hot and shutting off the fuel pump.
Two questions: Why was that sensor in a different place than other fords? Is it the model (looks like an EB edition) or had it been moved for that specific vehicle you were working on? And, how much is a repair like this?
Be advised that a bad fuel pump will make all kinds of sensors give false signals. Over 100k might as well change out. This is a good outcome of what most will see.
"Be advised" the CEL code referenced is specifically for the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor; hence, THE REASON TO REPLACE THE SPECIFIC PART THAT THE ENGINE-MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IS TELLING YOU IS THE PROBLEM.

You neglected to say what engine size?? My 4.0 2004 is different. You neglected to mention where you attach your Snap-on diagnostic instrument. Is there a valve to attach a fuel gage?

why didn't you move the hard vacuum line right in the way those lines get brittle and break very easily from the engine heat and it's easier to not have to work around it and that was an easy one to move out the way the EGR value was right up top. remember most people watching or DIYers
That wasn't his question, idiot. The answer to his actual question is YES, a bad fuel rail pressure sensor can easily cause a lean mixture, especially under hard acceleration.
My 4.0 SOHC has the large plenum that sweeps to the right (driver side) as facing the front of the car and would require its removal. Must be the other half of the model run.
QUESTION 2003 Ford Sports Trac. 4.0. I think my fuel pump is going out. I cycle the key, turn it on then back off without starting. The first time or two I can hear the fuel pump kick on and run. Then I cycle the key again and hear nothing. Is this because it has built up pressure ? Or is the fuel pump starting to fail ? It acts as if it is not getting any fuel. Sometimes it is a hard start. Once started if I let it run for a few minutes it will start up and run with No problem. The longer it sits the harder it is to start. So I have been taking some starting fluid and giving it a short blast. It fires up and runs rough for a few moments then smooth's out. The truck sat over night, this morning I went out and disconnect the MAF sensor. It turned over a time or to and started right up. I let run for awhile then turned off the truck and reinstalled the MAF sensor. IF I reeve up the engine above 3000 rpms it starts cutting out really bad. The same way it did when the catalytic converter's went out. The truck was running fine until I had to change out the Thermostat housing. Afterwards it starts this. Is it possible that one of the new sensors I installed, on the thermostat housing was either the wrong one. Or I screwed up and switched the wires around ? Because it does have two.

Did you check the plug that goes to the pressure sensor for corrosion? Try cleaning the electrical connector, it may be turning the pressure sensor off and on erratically if there is a bad connection.

Smile nasty gas on my ford sport truck 2004 closeer to gas cap @ found later between cab on bad., run almost year like that one day stop and checked. Dropped gas tank down gas pump damage seal and replace all pump cost my like 260 dlls auto zone labor o due by my own job time 6 hra labor aprox...tame my breaks ..

Sure genius, using 3/4 of a part is probably close enough. Most parts are just made for looks anyway.

The one sensor does indeed have a temp circuit as well. 4 wire... 5v ref, then 1 for temp, 1 for pressure, then signal return.
