You can have a very reliable e46 turbo if it is done right, bottom mount is best to keep your nice cold a/c. M54b30 engine is one of the most reliable bmw engines.
The sound is the peaceful for my ears.

What I have seen with the Non M E46 are:
1. shortened gears with limited slip
2. Full headers/exhaust
3. Intake
4. Cams
5. Pulley kit
6. tune
How does the pulley kit give you more horsepower?
@@imestia7911 It doesn't give you more HP it reduces parasitic loss of HP from the main drive belt.

Thankyou for this video! Really clear and well explained. U got urself a sub and a like bro. Got a 330Ci which I wanna tune too. Just switched to a new waterpump/thermostat and a Mishimoto radiator. Got the oil filter housing gasket replaced and now its time for the new headers.

Any Turbo'd car just blows it out of the park. Not any ofc. But a new 320 is way way faster. Than let's say a e46 325 or even 330. They just give way more power on low rpm's. While we e46'rs, while we do have way better sound :P, only get the power from like 3000-4000 rpm upwards.
@@willemgijs3803 but the thing people like about the petrol e46 is the sound, feeling and instant torque. Rather than having to wait for the turbo to spool
@@joshcowlishaw8635 I have an E46 myself. But maybe the first meter the E46 is faster. But then the f30 is just way faster. Way more torque. I got a 320ci. And my friend 320i with 184pk and mine is 170. But F30 has 270nm and the E46 210nm. So 30% more. Top speed is the same.
And before I forget. He's going to chip it. Then it has 260pk and 420nm. So then it's just over for me hahah. But mine sounds and looks better tho 🤭. Although the f30 is really nice but just different. Very close.
sweet bimmer. i do like the pre- facelift much better though. i have an 02 coupe that im about to drop in a new engine and manual swap into.

M50 setup? M50 inlet fits a m54 and increase hp. Also a vanos rebuilt is recommended.
Guys do your vanos seals, it really really transforms the car, i have an e60 with this engine. Disa valve and vanos seals are the first things you have to do, i will be doing headers next and will probably reply here after i do it. Also know that most of these engines burn oil, that ends up clogging the cats so a major loss in power there..
I have done the decat + stage 1... not worth it imo
Update, new upstream o2 bosch sensors are a gamechanger... i had some cheap knockoff ones

@@477racing they didnt give me a check engine light, but they werent oe bosch, i put new oe bosch ones 80€ each and the car runs better has more power and has better fuel mileage, now i get 9.5-10.5L/100km
My 04 325i just started slightly leaking oil when I park it. It’s not a super bad leak, I only notice like 2 or 3 small drops every time I park it. Any advice or ways to check the 3 gaskets u mentioned or should I take it to a shop and have them diagnose it? The old owner apparently had the valve cover gasket replaced about 4 years ago so not sure what it could be but if anyone has any videos that could show me what to look for I’d appreciate it
Depends how willing you are to diagnose it yourself, you could clean the engine bay and drive for a week and then inspect the car with a flashlight to see if you can find where the source of the leak is
me looking at how to add more power to my 01 330ci with 120k miles on her, meanwhile my motor mounts gone.....
really bro dont let me watch this until i fix the mount. (just did the o ring) on my disa valve (not rebuild) disa was good, just the ring. so id have to guess the other gaskets you just mentioned are about to go next since it legit leaks NOTHING AT ALL!??!?!
sadly its an auto with ZF trans but a str8 dog stomp will roast the tires off no power brake needed.....

before boosting you should absolutely do the M50 manifold swap i personally wouldnt boost these motors as for the money it just doesnt seem worth it

You forgot the m50 intake manifold and zhp cam swap. Those each add 10-15 hp

what’s yalls opinion on what headers to run, i have a 02 325ci, i’m just getting into german cars and need a set with minimum to no modifications to fit, any recommendation help thank you!
cold air intake
full exhaust system (optional for catback or just a muffler delete)
shrick camshafts (optional)
m50 manifold swap
pulley upgrade
3-4 stage tune (could be plug and play or remotely done)
performance catless headers (could be from ebay from around $120-$800)
SAP delete
sway bar upgrade
coilovers
strut braces (front and rear)
newer tires
all this stuff listed will give you about a 60-80 horsepower gain (estimated) and make sure you do regular maintenance

Did the basic wear and tear mods, just did a k&n intake. I don't have a lot of experience so I want my next mod to be some what easy to install and I have $400. Any suggestions to what my next mods should be? Thinking possibly a throttle controller.
best bang for buck id say is a tune, my next video shows a diy on how to do it ;)
Is your car super loud without cats? I really dont want to get headers and end up regretting it
Its extremely loud, you definitely need a resonator and muffler if you wanna do catless, i have a newer video showing my new setup

Hey quick question I did the pulleys upgrade with turner motor sports I also did the cold air intake I used the shark injector upgrade do you think that tune is good or I need a better one?
That's lit. Did you notice a difference with just those two upgrades?
Id ask the tuner and see if whatever tune you’re looking into is optimized for those mods

And I absolutely would not recommend adding a turbo to any e46 that will wreck if not destroy your engine if your going to do that swap the entire engine or build the engine and upgrade your internals do not turbo a stock e46 engine

The oil pan gasket is a total BITCH to do yourself. Man, took me all day. I'm not a mechanic by any means but even if I was it's still ridiculous with everything you have to remove to get to it. The dealer must charge a ridiculous amount for that fix
