I've been watching you guys for a while now. And I've got a lot to say.
It was so refreshing to see you guys interpret her songs without the back story in the back of your mind. Especially in your Folklore reactions.
You guys mostly focus on WHAT a song is about instead of WHO is it about. That's the biggest compliment you can give Taylor because in the past she's expressed that if we find ourselves associating her works with things in her life, then they serve no purpose. She always encourages us to interpret the songs in our own way and relate to it so that we can find some clarity. She wants us to think of moments in our lives that are hard to put into words.
Sure, there are stuffs we can never relate to in terms of materialistic gains or losses.
But the emotional connection is always there for us to feel. I'd be lying if I say I don't care about her personal experience that made her write a certain song but when I'm listening to her songs, these are all entirely a different conversation for another time. I mean she's literally sharing her diary entries so why ruin the moment with speculations?
She drew inspiration from fictional or non fictional characters that she can relate to or not, depending on the subject matter. Then she passed the question over to us "hey this is what I felt, but what about you guys?"
My point being, always try to interpret music in such a way that tells your story.
So it really makes me happy to see that growth and journey. Have a blessed new year and I look forward to more from you guys. Cheers!

That's cool, In my first listen I actually thought it might be about her former record label when she started singing the bridge especially the line "He's got my past, frozen behind glass" and I thought about her past works or her masters. She's really smart
I agree with your interpretation, uncertainty is very often more feared than the toxicity of a current known situation. Knowing when to walk away can be crucial for your wellbeing. And it's one of the things that I admire about Taylor, she always takes risks and embraces the unkown even though she's terrified by it ( by her own admission). Thanks for the video, I appreciate you guys!

Don't know for sure but this appears to begin with the falling out with a female friend (maybe Karlie Kloss) Taylor said recently in an interview that the most important trait to her is loyalty and secondly in the lyrics her falling out and decision to leave her old label Big Machine, this seems more clear.
