Excellent! It's a really nice design using simple hardware. Totally agree that mixing 12V actuators and 6-7.4V servos can be a pain. I would imagine adding a secondary link off the top wing to drive the wing cap would be a simple solution.
Yup! That's exactly my reasoning behind using 'dumb' DC motors - no need to make them super complicated and therefore fragile - I want them to be able to take a beating.
I'm here for our class' art exhibit, was planning to make mechanical wings as my entry for that, so been binge watching your videos (I'm a new subscriber too), but I realized now that doing this, for now, is still too complicated for a beginner like me. Gotta go for the basic non-movable wings for now, but I def would work to achieve mechanical wings too, your works are so cool it really inspires me.
This is perfect. I actually was planning on making my own hydraulic wings for a mercy cosplay and needed a start. I plan to tweak this a bit most likely but I think I can pull it off.
I'm just going to say, you're exactly the channel I've been looking for! I've been wanting to do electronics in cosplay for a while and you're so good at explaining it! Thank you so much 😁
Good explanation, that will help in my future designs. (currently making my daughter a set of Maleficent wings, using 10RPM motors and bungee-assist to move them up and down, PVC frame).
I would actually be super interested to see your progress and thinking process behind your Brigitte build! I'm planning something similar and would love to compare notes :D
You could do four of those batteries and run them parallel series in pairs of two and your lights can be run off of two and your motor mechanisms be run off of two and not only will the batteries draw evenly but you could last so much longer. Your Genius!
In the end I went with a single, large 4 cell battery, and 3 voltage rails with 2 regulators - 1 regulator @ 5V for Arduino, 1 regulator (actually 2 in parallel) @ 12V for LEDs, and 'raw' 15V rail straight from the battery to the motor drivers, for maximum current and voltage :)
WOW! This is so cool! I'm currently working on my own set of wings but i'm not sure what type of motor to use on mine. i'm planning on using a pulley system i'm not sure if that makes it more complicated though. I've never really done any form of engineering in my life so i'm open to suggestions in motors or batteries or any parts that make more sense that what i'm doing 😅
How heavy is that setup? I've wantes to work on some form of animatronic demon wings for halloween and have paper mocked several designs, but the folding on your design is spectacular! I'm not great with circuits, but since there are only 2 motors on each side, I may be able to figure it out. However, being a smaller person, and not particularly strong, I would likely have to fabricate most of the parts out of lighter materials... I could likely only wear about 20lbs total without suffering fatigue for longer wear times. I dont do cosplay compititions.. just a costume enthusiast :) ... any advice would be wonderful. Beautiful job so far :)
If it's 'just for halloween' consider using pulley-rope actuated ones that you extend with your arms :) Mine are over-engineered and really heavy duty - i thick aluminium and steel plates - because I know I'll be adding a lot of weight with lights and plexi to the structure. If you're going for more of a fabric bat-wing look you can use something like plastic tubing for in-wall cable runs - it will be very light that way!
@@Zibartas thank you for the response. I'm still looking for animatronic action, but I completely understand where you're coming from. I've seen some set ups with just one linear actuator, but the movement is a bit one dimensional... I enjoy that you've achieved movement in 2 axis. I'll keep playing with some ideas... it's not for this Halloween anyway. Thank you again. And best of luck with Mercy
Thank you, this is super helpful. I do have a question about how you get them to rotate out before the wings go upwards? I'm planning a build for Maleficent and really want the wings to move from down my back, rotate out and then rise and struggling to find any info on how to do this. Yours look like they do it!
Do you happen to know if there are actuators that have a variety of motion? Like a square pad that moves in like a grid? Like if it was a 9 grid panel, it would be able to move in that range....not sure if im expressing this correctly....
I want to make cosplay wings but I've never made a cosplay. Im just waiting for some materials to arrive to do my first. I went for fnaf which is probably to hard-
I was thinking about doing a retrospective - but I have not got much footage from the time I've been building it. You think describing just as it is now would be interesting enough?

I love the idea of you making all these cool design for everything
Amazing, can't wait to see the finished wings :D
I realize Im quite off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Leroy Kian Flixportal :)
@Winston Tripp Thanks, I went there and it seems to work :D Appreciate it !
@Leroy Kian Happy to help xD

Griddlock Cosplay
Cool! Have you finished them yet? :3

Je suis français et j'adore ce que tu fait ! I'm French and I love your work!
Do you have a tutorial on how you made the wings go to the back or any reference photos?
Such an underrated channel!!

Okay this exactly what I have bin looking for.😱
And i subscribed love you’re work 🤯
Finally this is what I've been searching for! Electronic wings!
Thank you for sharing this! Subscribed! You make such amazing builds and you're a massive inspiration for me!

Can you do a video on how to add led lights to articulating wings please??
Is it possible to make wings for a robot type dragon?
hey! i wanted to ask what cad software you used to design the wings digitally?
I really like fusion 360!
@@Zibartas oh awesome! thank you so so much.
Wow! Could you make them flap a little too?
Yup! just need to wiggle the joystick real quick :D
can i ask where did you get that book ? please i would be happy to buy it too

Can you give us a complete list of components and how the actuators and motors be connected to arduino?
Thanks a lot.

You should make something do with genji
full tutorial when?
Can you possibly give a list of the components?
Rookie here. How do you attach the battery to power the actuator?
We just want to see the wings...!!
How much does it weigh? I mean to wear. How heavy is it to wear?
do you have a blueprint of this available for download with measurements?
Hi, this is an awesome job! How did you make the wings open and close like a butterfly?
There are two motors (in addition to the linear actuators) that open the wings side to side :)
@@Zibartas Do not tell me which engines it is, what are they called? Or maybe there is a connection diagram? :)
Y los componentes para hacer el circuito?
sir we stan
Where is part 2?
Can you drop how to make it
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
those lights are lit? xD
like your work .......
With these animatronic wings, can i make my Dark Pit Cosplay?
I suppose so - you decide if the design is something that works for you! :D
How can I purchase some of these wings from you.
Amazing....
WUUUUT >:OO This is sick so far!!
O'so very complicated tho...

Start small and work your way up! Small successes are better than great failures! :D
Dude, put together a demo reel and apply to Stan Winston SFX studio already. They'd be fools to not hire you
would u sell this
Can you do an in depth on the gauntlet at 2:17?
I was thinking about doing a retrospective - but I have not got much footage from the time I've been building it. You think describing just as it is now would be interesting enough?
Is that overwatch font?
I will love to see something like the version with an Arduino One, cause i have one, i just need the codes and the rest of the materials ':3
Pretty sure it can run the same code like all Arduinos :)
@@Zibartas we won't know if we don't try it, right?
💓
Hey I love the work I would love to do this with the blueprints I designed but I'm not that great with robotics I could send it to you hit me up
Real cool 🇵🇷
Ight, I'm asking. Any murder drones fans here looking for a way to make DD wings?
Man is becoming vulture lol
