  • There's a glaring conflict of interest at the center of our mainstream approach to solving climate change; one that constrains even the organizations that say they're leading on the issue. Resolving this conflict could open the floodgates to bolder and more equitable action, argues Jamie Alexander in this hard-hitting talk. Drawing on her work inside global climate nonprofits and corporations, she provides an insider's look at a system that has the power to help the world solve this problem, or be complicit in its continued destruction. Jamie Alexander's work focuses on bridging the labor, business, and environmental communities in support of major wins for a livable future. She is also an advisor to companies and investors on the role of "growth" in the era of climate change and how the tools of capitalism can be used to address this challenge. Previously, Jamie founded Drawdown Labs at Project Drawdown which helped to push the boundaries of corporate climate action. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    Nothing is greener than freshly laundered public funds.

    Dear Jamie,
    How to do we transition to renewables?
    In what year will the transition be complete?
    What’s the technology required?
    Will it be turbines?
    Will it be solar panels?
    Will it be hydro dams?
    Will it be something else?
    How many of each?
    Where will they be sited?
    By when will they be installed!
    Remember that this must be done globally.
    Also, don’t forget that globally energy consumed in 2050 will be 50% more than in 2020.
    What is the plan for no wind, too much wind and no sun?
    If batteries is the workaround what capacity will be required?
    How many will be required?
    Where will there be sited?
    When will they be ready?
    If pumped hydro is the workaround what capacity will be required?
    How many will be required?
    Where will there be sited?
    When will they be ready?
    *CURRENT ENERGY STATUS*
    Renewables Total = 14.1%…..
    Other Renewables = 1.4%
    Biofuels = 0.7%
    Solar = 2.0%
    Wind = 3.3%
    Hydropower = 6.7%
    Nuclear = 4.0%
    Gas = 23.4%
    Coal = 26.7%
    Oil = 31.6%
    Above status is from 2022 .
    Ratios have been as above for decades.
    *_VERY IMPORTANT_*
    _Renewables generate electricity._
    _There’s much more to it than electricity._
    _What’s the solution?_

    Im just gonna say it, if america can sit here and destory the rail industry and train industry to make way for roads they can adapt the cars on those roads to help fight the climate

    I just love when they talk climate change, without any respect for the scientists who will show you 130 years of temperatures that show no change from the standard deviation and thousands of years of cycles which all disprove any imminent danger. 166,000 climate scientists signed a statement saying there is no emergency. And these speakers invariably never seek to identify the 3 main countries: China, Russia, and India who have the worst pollution. Last winter’s debacle with electric car batteries that could not charge in the normal winter temperatures is a great example of the lack of insight, planning, and knowledge that has gone into this climate change craze. Not to mention the frequency of fires on impact. But just like the delusion of DEI, this will go by the wayside.

      Please post the science from these unknown scientists. Include peer reviewed documents. Don't forget to add NASA National Weather Service NOAA Copernicus data. Consider thinking for yourself and look for information that contradicts your beliefs.

      Why mention Russia, China etc if it is all a myth? So it is a problem or not? And if so then western countries carry whatever level of accountability that is due to them.
