I don’t compete in any kind of shooting competition but I do have the 5-30 Meopta on my CZ 457 VPT MTR. Because I don’t run the rifle hard I have not had any issues with the windage turret. However I will say that at higher magnification I think the image does get a little soft and there is a little loss of contrast.
I personally love the scope. I think it’s a little funny that we’re bashing non-locking windage, when the trend these days is moving away from a locking elevation turret. It’s still a warranted issue as Meopta basically got it ass backward on this model, but I think it less of an issue what it’s being portrayed as. But everyone’s use case is a little different so the perception of the problem will be different.
    Great review @C_DOES

Capped or locking. I don't care how it locks, as long as I can trust it.
I used to love the pull up turrets, but I never dial, so if I have the option to save size and weight with capped, then I won't throw a fuss.
Non locking is an automatic no-go as I can't trust them. even if you can set their zero as I can't trust myself (nor want to) triple check my turrets to see if they moved on me. Not something I want to worry about when I am shooting.

The rokslide review you're mentioning is done by someone with the alias "formidilosus" and I absolutely recommend reading some of the content he's putting out. He's opened my mind up to some of the issues in the scope and firearms industry and totally changed the way i shop for optics and rifles, but also how i zero and practice at the range. There's a few "shoot to hunt" podcasts with him that are very educational if you prefer listening.
I think we need more science based approaches with people actually testing things instead of repeating something they heard on the internet a bunch of times and it's definitely inspired me to go out and try some ideas for myself.
    Ps
Thanks for your reviews and the feedback you're providing. It was actually your video and that rokslide review that made me buy my first scope, the 3-18x50 meopta that I've been very happy with so far. I did have a loss of zero with that scope recently, but I can't for sure say at this point if it was really a fault of the scope. Further testing will commence shortly.

@eadymctavish4564 On the loss of zero and you said your it’s first scope I’ll ask: Did you level the scope, torque the mount screws and ring screws to the proper amount, what is the scope mounted to and if springer air rifle, is the scope rated for springers?

Torqued to i believe 19 inch pounds on the ring caps (i dont remember the base...but tight. Whatever sportsmatch recommended)
One thing that I didn't do was using loctite/fingernail polish on the action screws. I took the action screws out and degreased them, added fingernail polish and torqued to spec. Scope has been rezeroed and is monitored for zero retention.
The scope has not been leveled to a very precise extent.

@@eadymctavish4564 Interesting. It sound like it's mounted well. When it lost zero, you were using the same exact brand and weight ammo you zeroed with? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I try to gain knowledge where I can.
I was zeroing a scope just last year and shots were walking all over the target. Couldn't figure it out until I noticed my reticle rotating. I had gotten a phone call when mounting the scope and had forgotten to tighten the ring caps. Sometimes it's the simple things that end up being the issue.

Interesting. Only a month ago I was trying to decide between the Meopta Optika6 and the Bushnell Match Pro ED. Lack of availability in Europe of the Bushnell and only 100€ difference in price over here, made it a fairly even comparison. Even though I knew the glass would be clearer on the Meopta, I ended up picking the Bushnell due to the controls being way better (revolution marking, locking turret, revolution indicator, flatter turrets, locking turrets). Meopta isn't alone, though. A lot of the European manufacturers are stuck in their ways and slow to adapt to the changing sport.

The only issue I've ever had with my Meopta is that it feels like you're looking through a tube. The FoV just isn't as wide when stacked up to competitors.
EDIT: While I didn't have a warranty issue per se, I did have a spec of something show up in my scope. I tried to reach out to Meopta to talk to someone about it, and I never got a response via phone or email.
