I love making this with plain eggs, a strip of seaweed in the middle, and mozzarella, cheddar or even Mayo if I don’t have cheese in the middle as well. I top it with sesame seeds and dip it in soy sauce with a hint of sesame oil and it’s delicious 🤤
It seems obvious now that you've showed me but I never considered making it in a round pan! I never made tamagoyaki before because I didn't want to buy a square one. I'm going to go downstairs right now and try to make some!
caramonfire how did it turn out?
I'm going to do it after I get home from work! I love egg dishes anyways, but I thought there was more to it than this!!
@@melodyvong I cook this almost every morning since making this months ago. It turns out the same but just the shape won’t be so square. The first poor you do is the most important because that sets up how it will continue to look.
When did the japanese start eating eggs?
a long たまご
*ba dum tsh*
Not bad.
Good one
You SOB😂😂😂
wooowww
Nice one😄😄😄
My go -to channel for Japanese home style cooking. Keep it up!
I made a Japanese cake one time with your recipe. It was delicious. I love this channel!
This is a nice update to your previous video to show that it is possible to do in a round pan! I had to figure it out myself the first round so I never have had to use a square pan, but this will be good for the newbies. 😂
Thank you, I am eating a lot of eggs on my diet and excited for new ways to prepare them 😋 This turned out beautiful!
just did this and felt great with coffee and crispy toast
Me at 2:46: Oh hey this does looks easy!
*ends up spilling egg over the pan*
Me: Oh deer
*slips in egg puddle*
Me: Oh...
*ends up with burnt mush*
Me:...
Me: I've been lied to
thank you for another great recipe!
Lock yummy I love japanese food thanks
Thankyou for such an awesome video. i thought tamagoyaki could only be made on a rectangular shaped pan. Thank goodness i wont have to buy another frying pan now. i can just use my round pan at home. great video.
Love your channel. I never tried it before cuz didnt have typical pan (have round one) but when I saw this ohh I made it right away! And it was delicious thank u very much for sharing. Keep up the good work. 👌😊😍
Thank you for the simple instructions that "even I can follow." :-)
For a slight umami kick, I add some powdered dashi to my eggs before cooking them. The best part about making tamago in a round frying pan, is that you can trim off the edges and eat them, then worry about presentation. XD A little taste-test for the chef!
I bought Dashi but can't work out how much to use. Any ideas?
@@hoold01 if it's for this recipe, start with 1/4 to 1/3 teaspoon. If you're not familiar with the taste, you may not like the slightly fishy edge it gives. If you're fine with it, I usually stick 1/2 teaspoon. I really like the flavour!
@@CrystalMcNair thanks for your reply. The instructions on the packet call for a dilution. So how much water to 1/2 tsp?
@@hoold01 If you're making it for this recipe, you can dissolve it in any non-oleic liquid. :) So the mirin or soysauce.
I did it and it was easier than I tought. I'll definitely do it again. Thanks.
Reupload? Love it. Want one of those pans!
Made this this morning!!
definitely trying this!
Thank you so much😂, for years I see my mum making it but it seemed so hard but after watching this I think I can make it
Wow this is great. I will try it
Whoa! I just dis your recipe and it worked! Im so happy! Ive been Troy g to do that for a long Time and was never able to make it! Yeah! Arigatou gozaimasu! It was really good as well! Ill do that again for sure! 😁
素晴らしい! 感謝しています。❤
I tried this tonight as a late night snack and holy yum ness Batman! New favorite!
I tried this recipe it was very tasty
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
okay so like i tried it out, and while it looked like some sort of eldritch horror, they tasted AMAZING!?! i don't understand what i did right? i feel like there is nothing i haven't tried out in here before and its super simple? maybe its because of the rolling thing? maybe I've never combined those ingredients in these amounts before?? idk but for some reason these were some of the best eggs I've ever eaten, and I've been on a student budget for almost ten years now, so I've made A LOT OF EGGS.
I got my Tamagoyaki pan today and I'm looking forward to making this recipe. I didn't like making Tamagoyaki in a regular pan.
Thanks!!
wow that's beautiful.
I think I would add green onions to mine. Cant wait
Haven't you shown us this recipe once before?? Anyways, I cook Tamagoyaki once to four times a week :-D I just love it. Also combined with nori.
I love tamago yaki
I've never hit subscribe faster in my life.
How long do they keep after cooking, if you don't eat it all? And I'm assuming you keep them in the fridge?
How to make the folds visible? Mine melts together.
Does any kind of tissue in spreading the oil work or there is a preferred kind?
Will it taste good if I skip the mirin? We don’t have any and I really want to try tamagoyaki
Yes, I just cooked this on a toastie maker.
@JapaneseCooking101 how to clean or wash after use because it non stick right the square pan
That sure looks good.
I am so glad this is not an ASMR channel.
I tried making it exactly how you said but it turned out not as planned but I'm gonna try it anyway
Okay I tried it and... It tasted like I was eating a piece of salty paper so I think I did something wrong📄😱😣
I make this quite often just without the mirin
apple cider if you don't have wine :)
thx jpn mom
"And we are making a log"
what would you suggest for those who can not get Mirin?
Michele miezulnopții I use honey, but you can also mix rice vinegar and sugar together. If you use honey be sure to not use too much, it can get too sweet very quickly.
Chewy Mama ty! Ill keep that in mind!
But it on eBay! When I need exotic ingredients, that's what I do!
what if i don't have mirin
North River do regular vinegar do?
rachmat atma Honey has always worked for me (just be sure to mix well). It's sweeter than mirin, but you can always add less or add more soy sauce for balance. Most super markets now carry rice vinegar in the Asian Foods section if you decide to purchase it in the future. Don't try to use regular vinegar in place of it though because the flavors are very different.
I use a little bit of maple syrup 🤔
@North River What about sake? 🤔
ありがとうございました, 私は初めて卵を作り、私のお弁当のためにそれを学校のために使った。
Is it okay to not to use mirin? Can this recipe be completed without mirin
my friend, when she was making tamagoyaki without mirin, added a little bit of sugar to add that sweet taste :)
Mine always turns into scrambled eggs..
that works too cthulhu
Japanese Cooking 101, I want to forgive you to add subtitles, since not everyone perfectly knows the English language.
Same way it can expand the audience.
I think u guys have already had a tamagoyaki video in this channel😳
this is an updated video for people who don't have a tamagoyaki pan
Hi,you say that"see it doesn't look so hard does it?"It's really hard to cook Japanese omelet. How about you make Malaysian omelet call "telur bergulung"
My grandma would never use eggs when they had red spots like the first egg you cracked. I don't know why.
Because it's blood from the chicken, they used to fear it could cause food poisoning. But it is perfectly safe to eat.
For me, that heat is too high and there's too much browning on every layer. The egg whites are not beaten enough with the yolks. The finished ones are more like the traditional delicate yellow and are not the ones demonstrated though! 🤭🙏
real quick: when in doubt, put less salt. I made the mistake of not trusting my guts and it ended u way too salty for me
Is it just me or are those eggs fucking huge?! Farm raised?
B u t I don't have chopsticks tho 😭 time to try n do this with some knifes
Bruhh Be careful not to chop your fingerr
I tried to make it and i failed 4 times
It looks like the first egg has a spot of blood in it. If an egg has blood like that, you should throw away the egg and use a different one. :/
Actually, eggs with meat spots are perfectly safe to eat. The only reason to not use one is for presentation.
My is a bit salty
The eggs are not evenly beaten. You can see the egg whites in the final product. Tsk tsk tsk
pangkaji I personally think it looks better that way
I have failed horribly
I make a one egg Tamagoyaki every morning for breakfast. You’re messing up flipping that very first layer, sloppy cooking. Suggest you take some lessons from Yoshimi at Tokyo Kitchen.
