@@xlea4497 it didn’t. They were always gonna be 3rd with what BD and SCV did that year. It came down to the overall design of the show, but the mic debacle did not help matters.
she wasn't a bad vocalist, but her microphone was atrocious and the show designers did one of the worst things possible, making the crown hornline take the backseat. those first two movements are up there with some of my favorite things crown has ever put on the field, and the 2017 brassline was easily one of the best crown has ever had... it's just such a shame that what had the potential to be one of the best shows crown has ever done was ruined by a faulty mic
@@jspiker9914 maybe 2004 or 2009, I think those are both pretty underrated considering what they had to live up to with their previous shows (2003 and 2008), but if not it's cool, I get that Flo likes to take everything down so no rush.
IMO they totally ruined this show with the singing. It's the entire second half of the show and it's somewhat out of tune and faulty equipment. There's literally nothing that singing adds that couldn't be accomplished by a trumpet soloist and small ensemble. I hope that phase of DCI stays gone forever.
The first four minutes and thirty-six seconds of this show: Absolutely amazing. Then, the ballad starts and it all turns to garbage with all the vocal crap.
Holy shit. This is my first time hearing a quality audio recording of this show. Waaaay better than I expected.

Mega rip to the '17 vocalist. Got screwed over big time by a faulty mic. Even with it cleaned up in the CD version, you can still tell ☹

wished i was closer to the 50 when I saw this at finals. but saw them outdoors the next year. Beast was incredible. phew that brass line is special.
