  • How to write a cold email? Cold email for freelancing clients, marketing, getting a job, messaging on LinkedIn - anything that gets read in the interconnected world more than ever before.
The step-by-step method that we’ll walk through in this process will show you the exact method I’ve used to receive responses from a lot of people I had no connections with!
These are also the ways by which I have responded to a lot of cold emails.
The whole game is to cut through the chase, and let someone know you did the emotional labour of going deep into who they really are.
In the end, I’ll also share an example of how someone made me take action for something I hadn’t taken an action for 12 years! Just through the power of writing effective cold email - that you will learn in this brand new episode of wari-Q!
If you’ve received a response from a cold email that you sent, I’d love to know in the comments section below.

Within 4 weeks after the Networking video premiered here. Firstly, Thanks for uploading this fast Ankur!
    What I understand?
Philosophy: If you don't ask, the answer is obvoius no.
Inputs for you to framework your cold email:
    1. Subject:
NO - Hey! Looking for a job.
    Want to pick your brain.
Can I have some time of yours?
    Love your feedback.
    GOOD EXAMPLES OF SUBJECT LINE:
    1. You have no idea how I got to know about you.
    2. Hey Warikoo! That is such a cool surname.
    3 THINGS THAT WORK:
    1. Keep the language very simple. (A 5th standard student must understand.)
    2. 1st part of the email must establish the purpose of the email & the ASK.
    HEADLINE is important.
    3. The ASK must be unique after the Point 2 above.
    Don't:
I have this qualification, I have that experience, I have these skill set... bla bla bla. Doesn't matter. You lost.
    Do's:
Understand the culture of the entity or the person, what the belief system is, what are the values they stand for, do research and MATCH yourself to that context.
    GOOD EXAMPLES OF BODY:
    1. Hey Ankur! This email is written with the objective or trying to see if there is an internship available at nearbuy or not and I would love you to go through my profile and let me know what you think.
    2. Hey, what I love about nearbuy is that it brings all local businesses together, it lists all restaurants, spas and salons and everything on an online platform, I am such an offline retail individual yet I do a large part of my shopping online, but I still love going out in malls, I still love going out for a spa and what not, & I feel that it is never going to end in this country.
    KEY INSIGHTS:
    1. In reading, you don't praise & make the reader happy to grab attention, because reading is an effort. In case of listening, it might work.
    2. You want a REPLY in a cold email, not a "YES"
    3. Getting the Yes or No as fast as possible is a great skill than following up for 20th time after so many "No"s.
    4. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of work goes into it to get a response for a cold email. Spamming someone doesn't help.
    Best
    Tulasi Krishna.

I wrote a cold email to a Radio Station in Qatar as I also happen to work in Doha as an IT Consultant. The email was to look for any volunteering position assisting RJs so as to start learning about how Radio Industry functions/operate. I was quite surprised to receive a direct reply from the COO for an in-person meeting with him at the studio. Things didn't work out because of the time issues as I already have/had a stable job, but, it was my first cold email and the chain of communication was very welcoming.
I just went back and re-read my email and found it to be in line with this video.
Ankur, I just love how you breakdown things in order for people like me to understand things in a better way.

Actually, I wrote a cold email yesterday to the AI programmer working at Ubisoft, Canada named Bryan Griffiths. I love playing computer games and I follow game developer companies on social media. I messaged him that I am a huge fan of Ubisoft games and told him that I am aspiring to break into the gaming industry. Also told him that I loved Ubisoft's recent presentation at E3(Electronic Entertainment Expo which happens every year) and can't wait for upcoming games. And guess what, I got a reply from him!!
Thank you Ankur Warikoo sir for such inspiring videos. Keep it up!

I was part of an Inside sales team in an IT company back in 2015. This is when i came across cold calls and emails sent to prospects. Interesting fact i was able to able to set up multiple demo's and on exactly the same points as mentioned. When you write simple, crisp ( clean) emails with an effective subject, you have half won the war, to my surprise i did not make a single phone call to these folks who attended the demos. Thank you for making such great videos .

Here are quick notes I got from this video.
    1. Subject Line → Should Stand out.

    e.g →

You have not idea how I got to know about you. (By wariko to some big ceo ).

Hey wariko , thats such a cool name. (By someone to wariko).

    2. Keep the content simple →

The message you are trying to convey should be conveyed in a very simple manner. Avoid using big words and focus more on content. As a rule → a 5th class student should be able to understand it.

    3. The headline should make the main point →
The initial/beginning of mail should explain the reason of the mail.
e.g → I am writing this email to (____) and here is what I want from you.
After that give headlines to all the other points and explain them.
    4. Focus on getting a reply that to get a YES as a reply →

If you get a reply you will know weather you have to dig deeper or let go. Don’t waste time /energy where its wasted.

    5. Research on individual and write a personalized email →

Otherwise you will be a part of crowd and will be ignored. Add things in the email that the reader may also agrees to.

If you could please do a series on how teens should prepare themselves to run a business and what else can they explore with the help of internet other than just being an influencer would be really helpful ♥️ Also I'm someone who's been good at studies but in this pandemic I've discovered that I want to start something on my own but the idea of doing something while comprising studies is not really appreciated here. If you don't mind, on the "simple words" note, is it a good practice to use idioms when we send it to non-english-speaking business partners? Have a good day!

    Hello Ankur Sir
Your video can always been a great source of motivation and inspiration.
You talked about ending the mail with a question, I have been banging my head about what the questions could be. It would be a great help if you could provide some examples for the same.
    Thanks a lot!

For me, I've found the most success with ending my cold email asking the lead to get on the phone. This is because it's easier to close them on the phone, compared to email. So, that's the next step. :-)

Vidram i think the best way to create a conversation is sending Video Email, ask a question, gain their trust - Instead of writing an email, better to send in a video email especially with people you do not know - One platform that we use in our agency is CheersVideoMail.com - Easy to record and send a video email in sec - Try it - I think their membership now is FREE!

It is amazing how the core message you're conveying is to be concise, yet you go on and on and on with the speech... Kind of reminds me: Practice what you preach. Sorry, I had to click out of your video!
