    What a great story and how great to have the video and breakdown of the whole thing. Not to mention you got to share it with a friend that night. That can't be beat. Snook are special. You think they're done and they take off. You think they are in good shape and they just float. Congrats and glad I could share that memory with you. Thanks Love the shot with the head and the pink jig.

    Now that's a good video! I hardly see anything like this any more. It had the split story and a bit of history. You have some really good early videos.

      I hope so. I think I need to do some intended radical stuff in order to get a few viral videos going. Otherwise perhaps fate will deliver a radical fishing moment. In any case, I'll keep trying to produce quality videos.

    I used your First Light Tackle link to buy some jigs like the one's you use but couldn't figure out which weight, size and color to get.
    I also tried to buy a fish gripper with your link and it did not work.

      1 to 2 ounce jigs depending on the current. You want to bounce them on the bottom. Thanks for letting me know about the bad link. Here's a new one: amzn.to/2PhEYxS

    Great tutorial type video. I am an avid angler, just learning land based snook fishing at this time. i am loosing more jigs, than you probably could imagine. I will get it done soon enough. Persistence Pays! Thanks for sharing some tips.

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  7 лет назад

      Thanks for commenting. Yeah, I totally understand losing jigs. Since I've switched to 50 Lb braid on the main line, I don't lose nearly as many lures as I used to. Often the hook bends enough for the lure to come loose from the snag. I saw a picture today of a big grouper someone caught near a bridge in our area on a big pink jig last night. It looked like a keeper. One thing I've learned, when a snook hits, I know it. They hammer those jigs hard.

      Rad Reeling Fishing just took off jumping out of the water a few times and spit the hook. I wasn’t next to my rod at the time so that didn’t help

    Awesome catch man! The owner of first light jigs told me the most important aspect of fishing jigs(to him) is match the clarity of the water.clear water, use a white jig. Not so clear but not so murky use chartreuse. Really murky go pink or black body. Those darker colors throw better silhouettes when fishing around lights or there's some moon. I also noticed a greater hook up ratio when i tie on some flash or the head has glitter. Keep it up! you'll break that pb soon if you keep with those jigs!

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  6 лет назад +1

      Billy thanks for sharing some of your jig fishing wisdom. Your tips are welcomed and greatly appreciated. I fished with jigs for about two months last season and caught my PB and lost one that wore through the leader right in front of me in full view; now that one was a giant, possibly bigger than the 42" one. I also had another one I couldn't turn on the bridge one night and broke off in the pilings. I totally agree with you, the chances are really good for breaking 42". What's your largest snook?

    • @billyjohnson7661
      @billyjohnson7661 6 лет назад

      My biggest is 48" i got her summer of last year. Just over 34lbs in a spill way on a pink jig right when i popped it off bottom.on 20lb braid.craziest 30 minute fight of my life.

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  6 лет назад

      Wow! Those big ones are slow moving locomotives when they get hooked. I watched Jupiter George (RUclips channel) catch some spillway snook on jigs. The big one that wore through the leader last year I fought at ground level. She was within twenty five feet of me the entire time about two to three feet under water. It was about a ten minute battle and I could see her the entire time. She hit the jig about eight feet away from me. That was one night when I just decided to go fishing without all the camera gear. I'll always have the Gopro on from now on whenever possible. So disappointed I didn't catch that battle on video.

      I had 300 yards of 20#braid and she pulled all the way into my mono before i started gaining line back.I'll remember that till the day i die

    Man I lost a smaller flair jig and a 10$ Yozuri in Madeira Beach a week ago. Was trying to reel in shadow line and hooked piling. Do you bounce your flairs off the bottom typically?

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  4 года назад

      Yes. When fishing new areas I always lose jigs. Those pilings have got me so many times. I have found that with fifty pound braid and eighty pound leader often times I can pull it free because the hook bends out. Thanks for commenting.

    Hi JC any more tips on useing the flair hawk jigs for snook haven’t had a hook up yet but I’ll keep trying thanks JC

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  6 лет назад

      Yeah, keep fishing with them and losing hundreds of dollars worth until you figure out exactly how to fish them in the spot that you are in. Every spot seems to be fished differently. In one place you will reel the jig four to five cranks off the bottom, in another seven or eight cranks and then let it hit the bottom. It saddens me when I think about how much money I"ve left on the bottom of the bay...good luck!

    Great fish, I don’t use floro at all. I bought a 100 yds one time and that was it. I use my trusty Ande 50, 40 and 30. I don’t think it makes a diff, I fish at night also so.

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  7 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the comment. I just looked at the Ande line. They claim their mono is very abrasion resistant, sounds good to me! I really enjoy knight fishing. I like to fish at sunrise more than any other time though.

    Nice fish. You need to get a drop net. That big girl almost didn't make!!

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  7 лет назад

      I agree! It's time to add a drop net to the fishing gear. The other night a guy put a snook in a drop net my son in-law had caught, lowered it down and the snook kept getting hung in the net. He tried over and over. Finally he tossed the fish over the side of the bridge. How do you keep the fish from getting caught in the net when you want to release them?

    • @JupJosh561
      @JupJosh561 7 лет назад +1

      Rad Reeling Fishing you put the jaw of the fish a little bit over the edge of the net and drop the net down till he swims off

      Or just torpedo him off the bridge head first with a straight travel path downward. Of course if the drop isn't crucial.
