I've been plowing my paved mile long driveway with a Land Pride rear blade for 20 years and have never damaged the asphalt - it's a very heavy 84" blade. Purchase and install shoes for your blade and make sure your three point is in float. The shoes will not damage your asphalt, either.
Glad you commented on this. I actually don't use this much now. You are correct, the steel blade works better. It is only needed in rare situations were you may have some better finish material or don't want the minor scraps it makes on black asphalt.
Great idea. I don't have one yet but hope to next year and have a design that uses a simple piece of heavy duty PCP pipe and fastens over the cutting edge. It is easily removable and just as easy to put back on. I also added a cutting edge to my bucket because I've seen to many smiling buckets over the years if you know what they are. I checked out old buckets with a cutting edge attached and almost none had that familiar bend in the middle.
Nice job!!! If you have time I have a video for the front bucket edge using composite decking. It might be something you can do. Have a great weekend😁👍🚜💨❄️
I looked for a follow up regarding the efficacy of this poly cutting edge but didn't find it. Can you tell me how well it held up and if the $$ was worth it?
Hi, it worked “ok”. It did protect my driveway but it did see a lot of wear. I might get one more winter out of it. I would say it’s only worth it if you really have a nice driveway surface you want to protect. Otherwise just go with the metal blade and be extra careful. I think some of the wear I see comes from using it on the gravel. I have both asphalt and gravel.

Did have the company to put the bevel edge on the plastic snow blade.

That’s going to be much easier on the asphalt than the metal edge. I would paint it black 😉😂. Have a good one 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻

Where did you get the blade?
