There are no words to describe how much I love seeing your kiddo spending time with you like this! She's coloring away and just wants to be wherever her daddy is. Reminds me so much of my now 18yo son. So many of my projects took longer because of his 'help' but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Many Blessings!
Thank Mike, I remember working with my dad as well. Lots of things he taught me. Someday Brielle will be putting the color crayons down and asking how to turn a wrench. I was thrilled and surprised how long she stayed out there with me. God bless.
John look into 1/2” UHMW plastic. That’s what I’ve started using. It is used as a low friction high impact long lasting plastic material used in manufacturing and production lines. It is hard and rigid enough to boot directly on without the steel plates, cuts more like the steel edge, super quiet, leaves absolutely zero damage to surface, is cheap, takes the shape of your cutting angle, and lasts for a long time. I’ve had my set now for 2 years in Indiana and like you I plow my whole neighborhood for fun. So it gets a lot of use. Just another idea.
Good video. Last year I bought a 1/2" thick rubber stall mat from TSC and cut a 60"x5" maybe piece to put between the wear bar and back part of my 60" snow/dirt blade, hanging down about 3/4" below the wear bar. Works great but still moved gravel around in my driveway where there is gravel. After a snow base gets made I can lower it down and push like it's on cement or asphalt.
I am considering doing something like this to my blade. I plan on pulling the face plate off and putting a 5" wide x 60" long x 3/4" thick piece between the faceplate and the moldboard while allowing the rubber to extend below the face plate. I used to work with a Highway Department that did this with their small plow truck that handles the dirt roads in town and it works great for gravel and uneven surfaces. I'm sure I'll need to get extended hardware as well.
Thats pretty clever with the stall mats. Im sure most companies would try to sell you a single "purpose made" piece of rubber for frikkan $40 at least. Now you have potentially five or six spares whenever you want. Saving up for a Kioti CK, and Im planning on doing this in a bolt-on wooden rig for the actual loader bucket. I dont really care to run a scraper box or something on decent cement.
Rubber 4” baler belt from local farm store works great. I used it for 3 years on my Polaris Sportsman snow plow. Used strictly on concrete and asphalt barely shows any wear. Recently switched to a Polyurethane cutting edge produced by a company “FallLine”. Their products may work even better for you. Picked up a 60” blank (no holes pre-drilled) from Amazon.
I’ve heard good things about the poly edge. I might have to give it a try one of these years. I used to plow with a Polaris sportsman, very effective and quick method when we had a long driveway. The baler belt is great option as well. Thanks for watching! God bless.
The snow removal equipment gives that tractor a mean looking stance now that you have a cab! Pretty menacing, the snow might just melt away out of fear. I laughed pretty hard when Brielle was covering her ears, mostly because that used to be me, lol! Takes a lot of dedication to repaint a snowblower every year but I bet it will pay off. I’m excited to see the new tractor in action out in the snow. It should be great, and while you’re at it, see if you can stand to get down to a T shirt and shorts in your heated cab, lol! I haven’t been able to tell just how warm Curtis cabs get with their heaters yet, so you’re kind of my test subject. I’m headed up north for the hunt, FINALLY, so I’ll hope to see another video soon. Have a nice weekend, Jon. Stay warm!
We got about 2 inches of snow last night. I might just have to test out the cab heat later today. I don't paint the whole snowblower, just touch up on spots that get a little worn mainly to keep the rust off. Rust will deteriorate it quickly. Best of luck hunting! I was hopping to make it up north this weekend but I think I better get started on setting up Christmas lights. Take care, be safe and good luck! God bless.
That's a great idea . This way you're not scratching up your customers concrete driveways . Cute daughter you have there . She's a trooper wanting to be in the garage with dad on a cold day .
The rubber edge actually works better than the steel edge. The rubber flexes over cracks and curbs and has really held up well. I was surprised she kept on coloring without gloves. :-) God bless.
Nice to see you again. What would be great to use for your blade would be used conveyor belting. If you can find it. Ever see the snowblower mods that abound RUclips? Putting rubber on the impeller blades to increase the efficiency of the blower? My hats off to you.
I have seen that trick with the impeller blades. Mine are pretty tight yet. They might wear over time but no need to modify at this point. Lots of ideas out there. God bless.
Looking good Jon i would say you are all set for a big snow !! LOL we are to get some snow to night 1/2" to 1 " they say !! have a great up coming week !!! Kioti Curt :-)
Hey Kioti Curt, I'm not quite set yet. I need those Christmas lights up, preferably before it snows too much! It's a big job! Hope the week is treating you well. God bless.
Jon look's like a good idea may have to try that it's snowing here only sticking on grass and deck would like it snow more and get colder but thats old right after Christmas God Bless PaK
The third function diverter valve is mounted to my FEL frame so it isn't an option with my front snowblower. However, I personally don't see the need for it on my snowblower deflector as I rarely need to adjust it. I still have the option to add an electric deflector but for the jobs I have now clearing snow it's just not a priority yet. I'll have to explore some options and see what makes the most sense. Thanks for watching! Keep on tractoring!
Pretty soon you will have to put a wrench in that little girls hands:-) Glad it all worked out with the blower. While I don't envy the cold you are having, I do envy the snow. Doesn't seem to snow much around where I live anymore. Maybe a few storms with 8-12 inches.
This is where the rubber meets the road, lol. Good idea/ video Jon. May I suggest a heater for your garage?! You seem to spend a fair amount of time in there. Would help with melting the snow and ice off your vehicles and tractor too!
Hi, thanks for this good and inexpensive idea. Here in Germany we use "Vulkollan", it lasts really long, but it is sooo expensive. If mine is worn out I will change. In your Video I couldn't see it well. Do you use regular nuts, no lock nuts? Didn't work them loose or came completely off due to all the vibrations? Take care! And God bless you!
I use regular nuts but I also use a lock washer and I haven't had any issues with them coming loose. This rubber edge has really worked well for me. Keep on tractoring and God bless.
The brand I have is a Howse but they are very hard to find. Check out EA attachments as they make an almost exact copy. I can’t believe what they charge for them however. 😳. Best of luck! God bless
Great video brother! Here in Mississippi the temps are about 68 degrees. Thought I’d rub it in lol. Please ask ur daughter to color or draw us a kubota pic. I pray our lord Jesus Christ will keep on blessing u and ur family.
I think every where in the country has warmer weather than us. We went right from summer to winter. I sure would like it to warm up a little this weekend so I don't freeze putting up lights. Thanks for the comment and God bless.
There is a Kioti dealership in Ramsey that had them on clearance 3 years ago. Other than that they are hard to find. The brand name is Howse but EA attachments makes almost an exact copy. I lucked out with mine, they aren’t easy to find. Good luck. God bless
I haven't but I would imagine it would do very well. It would probably work best to use a 1/2 inch piece of rubber instead of using two 1/4 pieces like I have. That way gravel cannot get wedged between the two pieced.
We all need some supervision from time to time. I was surprised she stayed out there with me without gloves on. It was cold! They grow up fast. God bless.
Not sure why you go to all the trouble with sandwiching the rubber between the flat bar. What works really well is a TEFLON blade. (Not the real name of it.) You can probably find it at a dealer that sells snow plows. The one we put on our Plow truck lasted for 5 years and still had a few more years of life in her when we sold it. It is the same stuff we used for our pusher box. It really wears well. will not gouge or scrape the blacktop.
Yeah I’ve heard the “poly” blade works very well. I might experiment with that next season. I guess I can find a 60 inch blank on amazon somewhere. It might be an option, we’ll see I guess. Take care and God bless.

Nice Job John, I enjoy watching you , I'm going to do this shortly. Thanks

Sweet that your blower works with the new tractor and super job on the edge Jon!
Yes, very happy I didn't need to purchase a new blower or front attach system. Take care Chris. God bless.
Great video. I used one piece or stall mat between the blade and wear strip.

Hi Jon, you have to add the 3rd function valve to the snowblower for the spout deflector!
I enjoy watching your videos!
The third function diverter valve is mounted to my FEL frame so it isn't an option with my front snowblower. However, I personally don't see the need for it on my snowblower deflector as I rarely need to adjust it. Outstanding! and you need to give your garage supervisor a heated chair
I need to just heat the whole garage. The plan was to insulate over this past summer but I didn't get around to it.
God bless.
Hi, thanks for the info about the old front qh fitting the new 80 series! Do you know if the old mower decks from the 70 series fit the 80 series?
Yes they absolutely will fit, in fact all Kubota BX mower decks will fit.
I kept my original deck from my BX25 60 series.
Keep on tractoring!
I like it a lot.
What company makes that back blade, nice that it offsets.
The brand I have is a Howse but they are very hard to find. Check out EA attachments as they make an almost exact copy. I can’t believe what they charge for them however. 😳. Best of luck! God bless
Love it and she stayed out there with all that noise lol
I was surprised! It’s was cold out there. ☃️

Great comment !!! God bless you and your family !!!!! Eddy
What back blade is that?
That is a offset Howse backblade.
Keep on tractoring!
Where do you get the power for the front blower ?
Mid PTO ?
Correct, the BX has a mid PTO that puts out 17hp from a 23 hp engine.
I happen to live in the same area of MN as you and was wondering where you picked up your offset back blade?
There is a Kioti dealership in Ramsey that had them on clearance 3 years ago. Other than that they are hard to find. The brand name is Howse but EA attachments makes almost an exact copy. I lucked out with mine, they aren’t easy to find. Good luck.

Have you used the rubber cutting edge on a gravel drive yet? I'm curious to know if that works.
I haven't but I would imagine it would do very well. It would probably work best to use a 1/2 inch piece of rubber instead of using two 1/4 pieces like I have. That way gravel cannot get wedged between the two pieced.
Seems like it was the other day when my girls were that size. They're teenagers now and don't think daddy needs supervision. God love 'em.
We all need some supervision from time to time. I was surprised she stayed out there with me without gloves on. It was cold! They grow up fast. God bless.
You need to put another bolt at very end of blade both sides
PLOw attachment not the same
