Introduction to Oil Painting for Beginners is a complete oil painting course. In it, you will learn the fundamentals of oil painting with acclaimed artist and instructor Charles Hu. You will start with familiarizing yourself with materials, then move on to black and white painting the still life and figure. You will add more colors and complexity to your process, and by the end of the course you will be painting a complete multi-figure composition with a full color palette.
In this free lesson, Charles teaches you the techniques involved in achieving correct values with oil paint. Using only black and white, he guides you through the process of painting a still life.
*Lesson Assignment*
When you have finished watching this lesson, your assignment is to paint a still life in black and white. Find 3 objects of your choice of different sizes (example: a bottle, apple, and a book), then arrange the objects in a triangle format. Avoid placing the objects side by side.
