Mark, you are amazing. You are giving the best advice possible to other painters. Good for you. I'm a professional painter and have made a good living for years. Never have I seen such honesty and good info given out, the way you do. You are truly an artist in every way. Helen
An artist does NOT mix globs of paint up into the ferrule, that is just not done; also, you hold the brush like a pen, not high up at the top, that gives you no control!
@@larrywakeman4371 Sorry, but what? Many artists throughout history were (and still probably are) painting with 10+ feet long brushes. Oddly enough there are no recorded complaints of a lack of control from those masters.
Thanks so much for another beautiful painting, and tutorial. It's pretty amazing that 90% of the vase is greys, browns, and muddy colours, and there's just a hint of gold/orange near the end.
Hello Mark. I’ve been an amateur artist for years and I’ve only just recently tried to start oil painting. Your videos have literally changed my life with regards to this pursuit. I know that sounds overly dramatic but I had serious retina issues that left me blind a couple years ago and never thought I’d ever see again let alone paint. Still very much an amateur but love these videos, the information, and the inspiration. Ill stop this embarrassing gushing now, lol. just wanted to say thanks
Evelyn Dolan ty. 11 invasive eye surgeries over a 9 month period, ending with cataract procedures in both eyes. Long story but 5 months of that I was clinically blind. I still see like I am under water do to all the damage but so thankful I can see at all. 🙏👍🏻
A born artist with lot of dedication and with a good heart ❤️ to show others the the way you traveling in detail. Great artists have a great heart too. So beautifully explained. No any music disturbance too. Thanks
GREAT DEMO! Fantastic lesson! "Seeing" anything as merely light and shadow is much more challenging than it sounds. You showed us all how perfectly! Thank you!
I have been painting in watercolor but now I want to paint in oil. I feel so lucky because I found your videos, you are amazing!!!! Thank you for doing this. I am following your videos to learn the basis and then I will more classes with you
Thank you Mark for another great video- it was just magically, none of the color you have mix look “ copper” but it came through! Great narrative, packed with valuable wisdom 😍- I am inspired!
Great video, I like the to leave a few aspects painterly because I feel it makes the painting lively, I also like seeing the brushstroke on the background and not have it completely blended.
Thank you Mark, your way of painting is so helpful, I'm in Ireland, trying to teach myself thanks so much for this demonstration.glad to hear your feeling better.
he should make a video on value and the placement cuz his trained eye sees the general area while I get caught up looking at the highlights which makes me paint tentatively
When I was young at university for art, I assumed we would get this kind of instruction. What was I thinking, just the assumption of someone young? I was sadly mistaken. Thank you Sir, for giving us what many of us did not get at University!’
Mark, You are just fantastic! I recently discovered you and I've already learned so much, thanks a million for sharing all this knowledge!! Love your work and your way of teaching! Marie
What are the chances of watching you paint a portrait? Thank you so much for all your videos and website content. I have learned so much from you, honestly. Thank you!
I thought that was a photograph of a was real bright brass jar. No kidding. By the pictures, I assumed you were gonna test gold spray paint on brass. You are awesome. I want to learn from you. Sub'd.
El suyo parece mas verdadero que el de la foto, sufro porque pierdo parte de sus explicaciones.Sus videos son fascinantes. Gracias, saludos desde Argentina
this Guy is awesome ... forget about what we know ... yeah we all do a little bit sure but you see, I started on my own in 2007 and trued to get to few schools but they wouldn't take me. they said "what you brought here can not be yours" but it was ... but even tho I was accused of bringing fake paingtins which is just nonsense they still wouldn't take me in and thats ok cuz they just said to me "just don't stop, keep paiting cuz you have talent" ( well I don't, Im just good with whatever I do, but ok, it's just I look at this Artist ( and I don't consider myself one ) but I look at his skills, and there are others that I personally know, and I keep on thinking this .... if you like creating something out or nothing, like from blank canvas please pay attention to what He says cuz an essences of Creation is exactly what He says ... do not copy his skills. you can not. just learn from what he says and you will only benefit from it. It is awesome you still have real Artists willing to share what they know. Even Carravaggio would tell you that, or Rubens or others ( except idiots like Worhool vci Jesus F*** christ ) do yourself a fav and learn from real Artists like this Guy. Ok fine, if you don't believe me ask Caravaggio Amadeo Modigliani. Two different Artists but look how they Both influenced us all. Well at least they did an awesome job to Me just like this Gentleman does. Peace
Wow, that is stunning work, and although I'm an acrylic painter, there is still, indeed so much to learn just by watching and listening. The techniques you describe are just as important in acrylic painting : values, color mixing, painting dark to light, etc. etc. The handling of the paint is the biggest difference as far as I can tell in oil vs. acrylic. Question? What do you do with all that paint that is still on your pallet? That's a lot of wasted paint?
Thank you so much. What is your dark color. It looks like Burnt Unber, but you must ahve blue and alizarin in that mix.Do you? I really enjoyed this. I tend to paint too fast, then have to repair. This will slow me down.

GREAT DEMO! Fantastic lesson! "Seeing" anything as merely light and shadow is much more challenging than it sounds. You showed us all how perfectly! Thank you!
Absolutely amazing. I loved watching the simplicity of how this painting came to be yet was well aware of the difficulty in getting things right.

I love the juiciness of your paints. And the brush dip is great it smells like cloves, very nice.
