Reminds me of professionals working with students suffering from home life traumas. Instead of asking "what's wrong with you", asking "what happened to you?"
I've watched this video numerous times. I've found it infinitely useful. Especially when I need to have a courageous conversation. Such a practical way of approaching things - not just in schools but the workplace too. It's never too late to add this to your toolkit as a professional.
I know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Arthur Cash Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This was amazing. Give me new perspective on being calm and to have the courage to confront when I am wrong. Changing a question from "why you did.." to "what happened..." Have different outcomes. One thing I learned as a social work student is be careful with the "why" questions; it put people in defense mode.
This is a true gem. I recently enjoyed a similar book, and it was a true hidden gem. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
Thank You Michelle Stow,e so very much, for this very important conversation about difficult conversations. Thank You for providing the excellent real life example of how it can play out ... and Thank You for putting emphasis on how the focus needs to be not so much on a specific moment success but on the big picture success ... I agree Love is what it is about ... and that can be allowed when we allow ourselves to see from anothers perspective (as best we can in any given moment) ... I totally Love your entire aspect of presentation here ... [I'll be searching for the lady you mentioned next (which I also love that you do ... mentioning someone else who serve as your inspiration) and looking forward to seeing what else you offer] Love & Peace to All
Really great ... I also study empathy but you explained what to do when the expert themselves are in that situation. Not easy. Nice to see the Irish on Ted. Irish living in Sweden myself.
Empathy is a seducing, demonic spirit.. Don’t be an empath. Have a discerning spirit. Seek the truth instead of acting how other people want you to act

Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing this.
This is so underrated. I listen to this all the time to remind me to live my values and to show up with empathy.

There can't be empathy when there is blaming and no acknowledgement.
