I'm not really familiar with them but it seems like it's more of a range control which will allow the pulleys to move to a certain point no further. So going to the 7th speed actually just eliminates all limitations on the range. That's how it appears to be to me anyways. So I've disconnected mine and now I'm getting the engine back in so I can take it for a test drive and see if that is indeed the case. I'll let you know in the next video how that works out. Your shop looks a lot like mine. I have a white 64 Spitfire and a bunch of lawn tractors in mine as well.
My lever for the 7speed is doing the same thing how'd you end up fixing that for it to work mine has the same play yours has not grabbing
