I totally agree. He’s telling her to keep fighting, fight and move forward or die. “I choose life” she says to end the lesson after previously she had answered wrongly. Anakin says “incorrect” when she refused to choose life or death and he tapped into the dark side to cause her to directly confront this darkness she so feared and felt guilt for. All of this additionally with the objective of getting her to literally fight for her life as she was in the water in reality
Also she needed to work through and grapple with her identity as a Jedi and realize that what it has meant to be a Jedi has continuously evolved and change as the galaxy has evolved and changed. From peace keeper to Warrior to whatever, and understand that she too is more than just that.
Additionally when Anakin asked “is that what this is about?” he’s dismissing a little tantrum from her. Anakin is above the past now. He is in no path of atonement or lament. He is fulfilling his potential by embracing his role. He said this in order to redirect Ahsoka back to why she was there. It isn’t about him anymore, it’s about her. She needed to stop looking at HIS past and start looking toward HER future.

Ep. 5 was Ahsoka's Jedi trial. As in the trials that Obi-Wan mentions to Qui-Gon in TPM; the trial Anakin endured in the 2nd part of Tartakovsky's Clone Wars miniseries; the trials Luke faced in the cave on Dagobah, as well as in his actual confrontations with Vader.
Due to her premature departure, Ahsoka never faced this final test of Jedi training.
    ...Until now.

I agree with some of what you said, but I reached a different conclusion. My interpretation is that Ahsoka doesn’t feel like a Jedi. Because she was trained during the Clone Wars, she feels more like a soldier. Anakin tells Ahsoka that she’s more than that, but it’s not until she throws away the saber that she actually believes it. In that moment, Ahsoka realises that she isn’t just a fighter or a warrior. She’s a true Jedi.

No one’s talking about Anakin’s new ability or his arc’s new ending either…
Anakin now has the ability to control the dark side, and it perfectly wraps up his arc with a bigger bow than ever before...
Not only did he fulfill the prophecy by defeating Palpetine, not only does he get to exist amongst the other Jedi within the force for turning good, but is now able to turn the dark side on and off. This also teaches Ahsoka that the bad reputation of their legacy is wrong. The Master she represents has achieved perfect balance, freeing her from her guilt and completing her training. It is straight poetry.
People are too caught up in the De-aging, the clone wars, and the “fight” to understand the genius within this love letter to Anakin fans. #InFiloniWeTrust

Bingo, that was my interpretation all along. It was about Ahsoka shedding the burden on her legacy with Darth Vader. Her guilt, her fear that she, like him, may lose control and turn to the darkside. "You lost a fight." How did she lose the fight? Baylan Skoll pushed the right button for her to lose focus. At the end of the vision, she could have struck Vader, a very dark side move. Instead she backed away, "I choose life," meaning she chooses to life content knowing that she was Vader's apprentice but she had evolved, or moved past her fear & guilt. The whole ordeal was about getting her head straight. Baylon Skoll managed to pick apart both Ahsoka and Sabine with his words, not his lightsaber. What a great villain. I love this show.

The reason why Ahsoka is in the World Between Worlds in Episode 5 is because Ezra saved her from Vader at that moment. Ahsoka feels that she was close to death, as in that moment with Vader, so she sees a World between worlds. When Anakin tells her "Live or Die" he means that Ahsoka shouldn't have given up because her master had turned evil. This was the reason why she could have died in that duel with Vader on Malachor. This was also the reason why Ahsoka lost to Baylan, because he made her remember her master's dark legacy. When Ahsoka and Dark Side Anakin are fighting it's literally continuation of Ahsoka vs Vader on Malachor. And Ahsoka can finally fight for her life without being ashamed of her legacy. That’s why Anakin approves her and leaves. He completed her training.

anakin is teaching her to balance the force, and not to see teh dark side is evil.
telling her to fight , is actually telling her to embrace the dark side in her.
THis episode has many attribute of many others. I see it like the test in Degobah.
Luke failed. I think one of the issue, is that Baylon gave her a choice, and she decided to attack. Look at several battlers. Luke told vader he wasnt going to fight him. Which is referenced in this episode. Obi stopped fighting Vader in the New Hope.

Bro you are so spot on with the Bhagavad Gita parallels. And while you're right that it is left up for interpretation, I have no doubts now that Dave intentionally structured it that way. Especially when you take into account how much Hinduism has inspired the Togruta. Not only with Ahsoka and Emperor Ashoka, and obviously with Shaak Ti, but In Tales of the Jedi this is made evident in Ahsoka's village. The village elders name is Gantika, a name of Indian origin. Ahsokas mothers name is Pav-Ti, likely a shortened version of the Hindu Goddess Parvati. Meanwhile they're all speaking with Indian accents. So to have direct parallels to the Bhagavad Gita as you brought up is very fitting. It's that Joseph Campbell shit that we KNOW Dave knows is important to the legacy of Star Wars, even if he hasnt read it all himself.

The end of ep4, no lie...my eyes misted up so much!!!! Finally...the piece that had been missing, the circle being complete, the bridge we all wanted to see (pardon the pun). Ep 5 did NOT disappoint, anyone who watched Clone Wars, saw it, the way Anakin and Ashoka interacted picked right back up where it left off, I rewatched it 3 times, each time getting a new perception until it all sank in. "That's what this is about?" THAT LINE....the unsaid thing that Ashoka was never able to come to grips with, she felt (IMO) partially responsible for "the fall" of her master by "abandoning him" when she left the Jedi Order. His fall from everything good and rise to everything he taught and trained her to fight. Vader. TL;DR... Anakin: Ashoka..if you follow in the footsteps I took, and just stop, give in...you too will "die", everyone knows it was Vader's personification that always claimed "Anakin Skywalker was WEAK, I killed him", because Anakin stopped fighting due to all he had been thru (the separation and death of his mother, the fact the Jedi Order had been reduced to nothing more than the will of the Senate (aka Palatine/Sidious), his own ego, having to hide his and Padme's love/marriage. So many factors slowly ate away at Anikan to the point he just gave up "and died". She finally understood and embraced as you said, everything about her legacy, the highs and the lows... I feel sorry for Baylan the next time he confronts Ashoka, he's about to face the true Padawan of Anakin Skywalker.

She always tells everyone she is no Jedi. Remember that Luke needed to be a Jedi Knight to save his father and stop Palpatine. The fight against Vader on the second Death Star was Luke's trial. His declaration to Palpatine, I am a Jedi, like my father before me. This was all Ashokas Jedi Trial, in a galaxy where there is no Jedi Order. She faced the darkness, her fear, and she let it go. Look at her actions after when she was in white! She has become as her blades!

I didn't understand it at all until I saw her eyes change to Sith eyes right as the battle was ending. Once I noticed that I think the lesson is pretty easy to interpret. Anakin just wanted Ahsoka to rid herself of the fear she had of becoming like Darth Vader herself. To do that she had to embrace the dark side and control it, rather than fear and reject it. This is how she becomes "Ahsoka the white" by learning to use both sides of the force instead of only the light side.

close, but no. you can allow your dark side emotions to aid you, but you cant just be a jedi AND used things with pure hared such ss force lightning. thats what unbalanced the force as Geroge said Mace used the dark side too, but only to help a good situation.
there was a sith in Bane's order/line of sith?'who perfectly descrined sith'ari prophecy btw, but hundreds of years past Bane, a Sith master tried for years to somehow fully use the light and the dark (impossible), he went crazy and started destroying mass amnounts of artifacts, mostly sith. until his upprentince sensed it, arrived, and killed him, continuing the order of two, fully in the dark, bending the force to their willl, which is what unbalanced the force.
if you read all that, hope that was a bit of short form lore!

That is not correct either. Jedi is an Order, a Religion, not the force it self. How do you know, that the force has a dark or light side? Because they are saying so? Itś in the User of the force. Therefore I think, Zetgeist is totally correct.

One of the Mortis arc episodes begins with the quote "He who surrenders hope, surrenders life". Dave Filoni loves calling back to past Star Wars moments/content, especially those which he had a part in creating.
Anakin asks Ahsoka several times to choose whether to live or die, in the end she says 'I choose to live' and he responds with 'there is _hope_ for you yet'. Ahsoka had lost all hope for her own path, her own life going forward, with Sabine and a lot of other things which was holding her back. Her choosing to live is her choosing to rekindle her hope for herself, for Sabine and perhaps even the Jedi Order. She destroyed that part of herself and was reborn into Ahsoka the White....the scene where she is rescued from the water is a metaphor for that rebirth.

And whatever Ahsoka's feelings about leaving the Jedi and Anakin's fall, there were probably many times since then that she would have benefited from the guidance and support of a more experienced Master. I'm not sure the confusion on this. It is the world between worlds, and it is Anakin. Anakin is the dark and the light. He is both. The balance he learns is the lesson. She can't assume she's able to shun the dark, no one can, it's a part of us. But Ashoka needs to keep fighting to overcome that dark. You don't get to stop fighting it, ever. If we except our dark and our light and fight to always be our best, we have true balance. That was the lesson.

It's about Choice. She feared that her legacy will be the same as Anakin's. His lesson was, just because All he is is within her, doesn't mean she can't CHOSE to follow her own path. Anakin taught her but that does not make her Anakin. She is and always will be Ahsoka, she just couldn't see her self after the massive shadow Anakin cast across the entire galaxy.
I don't understand why No one seems to have picked up on the fact that this entire lesson was a sort of mirror to the Final Battle between Luke and Vader. Luke was supposed to strike him down (Personally. I believe Vader let him so that Luke would take on the power of the dark side and defeat Palpatine, where Palp wanted him to do it to be his apprentice.) and Anakin did the same to Ahsoka and she made the same choice as Luke that lead to him becoming a Jedi Master.

You got the Gita a little mixed up here. You got it right that it is about a warrior prince learning the responsibility of fulfilling his role as a member of the Kshatriya caste, but his name is Arjuna not Ashoka.
King Ashoka is the one who devoted his life to Buddhadharma (Buddhism) and non-violence after a brutal war for the throne in 260 BCE. Ahsoka's namesake is a man who chose to cease bloodshed after a war.
Going back to Buddhism, I think the World Between Worlds can also be a metaphor for the Bardo state in Buddhism. When a person dies, there is a period of 100 days where the mind has to shed its attachments from the previous life in order to reincarnate. The minds who hold onto their past selves will instead be reborn into a lower realm as a hungry ghost (a spirit that can never eat or drink without it turning to dust). Ahsoka's sense of guilt would have brought her there.

Good catch on the Gita influence. I think that's right on the money. The season seems centered on Ahsoka's path from Ahsoka the Grey to Ahsoka the White. Ahsoka the Grey was unsure and riddled with guilt. Ahsoka the White is now at peace with the consequences and can do what is needed. It's a transcendence arc. In addition, if we think about it. The Force is not just light side or dark. It is both. To embrace and bring balance to the force, one has to combine the two as one.

There is good and there is bad and everyone here or in the movies/series has both! You can yourself make a choice which one of both you want to follow but choosing one or the other allways leads to problems/trouble! In the "good one" mostly for yourself and in the "bad one" for others! The art is in accepting both, keeping a balance because you need both not one. Once you accept both it becomes managable (at least for most people, there are exceptions as always)...! I think that was what was displayed here, her final lesson, accepting both so she could manage it better and doesn't have to live with all the consequences of the turmoil in her head! She handled it perfectly as seen the result, turning from Ahsoka the gray (depicting all of the turmoil) into Ahsoka the white (depicting she finally accepted both and let the good control the bad)! Anakin never had that possibility and that's why he turned completely to the dark side under the strong influence of Palpatine until his last hours when he also accepted both which drives him to his last lesson for his padawan making her see that living with both is the only way...
