Hey there, That's awesome to hear. I'm so glad my reviews helped you decide on the a6700. It's a fantastic camera, and I'm sure you'll create some amazing shots with it. Im curious as to what lenses you picked up? Thanks again for the kind words, and happy shooting!
@@thefilmalliance i got the sigma 30mm 1.4 and sigma 18-50 2.8. absolutely love them both. (I also have a zv-e10 OG. Until i get better OR feel the need to upgrade further I'm using a6700 as an A and ZV as B cam).
@@gamesnroses85 that is like the best combo! ZV E10 and A6700! I have a ZV-1 and I have a query, posted a comment about it, can you share your thoughts on it?
A6700 is perfect for my needs. However, I do feel that my needs are in an odd space between the professional and the person who could be just as happy with a phone camera and a gopro.
i bought an A6700 used and a Tamron 17-70 F2.8 (Demo unit). It is my first camera, there is a lot to learn but it is really engaging and fun! the results look stellar
When I get to doing macro photography, I slap on the Sony 90mm f2.8 macro lens. It's pure joy. I love it more than when using an FF camera. It's the crop factor that makes it work better and easier. And the picture quality is excellent. I have thousands of shots of bugs, bees, beetles, leaves and blossoms using that setup. I am also setting it up for street photography and general use with the Sigma 10-18 zoom lens to go with the Sigma 18-50 zoom.
I've had this camera for 6 months now. I took it to trips to both Istanbul and Canada. I shoot photos only. Together with the Sony 16-55 mm f2.8 and the 70-200 mm f4 this camera produces stunning images in street, landscape, wildlife and macro photography. The images are pinsharp. With these lenses the autofocus performs flawlessly. Flying birds and flying insects like bees, butterflies and dragonflies are always in focus. I love this set up for it's amazing portability, great usability and outstanding performance and all that at a reasonable price. Going forward I want to buy a dedicated and fast street prime lense, a decent supertelephoto lense and a fast 85mm for big and/or close wildlife at dusk and dawn.
Shooting since 1966. I’m a Nikon fanboy from the Nikon F days. Don’t get me wrong I could never afford one in those days. I love photography and it’s my passion. I have Nikon and Sony FF plus A6400 and A6700 ….hand on heart without fear of contradiction , the A6700 stands alone in its supremacy. Coupled with the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 and the Sigma 56mm it’s perfect. For me.
I currently have the A73, A7S3 and the 6700. I love shooting with the 6700! There's just something so fun about it. Perfect for flying on a gimbal and a very capable stills camera. Just a blast to use.
Important to note I been using this camera for live streaming for about a year now and at 1080p 60 I’ve had absolutely no problems with overheating. This is also without a dummy battery I just plug a usbc into an Anker charging hub on and it’s been great. Great year in review brother I got this last year and I’ve been thinking about upgrading but videos like this just make me appreciate what I have and the importance of maybe a better lens! Thanks for the video!
Hey, that's awesome to hear. The a6700 and A7c II are both fantastic cameras, and it sounds like you've found the perfect pairing for your needs with the 11mm 1.8. It's great when gear just clicks like that. What lens are you using for the A7Cii?
Great video. In terms of live-streaming, I stream with it using the usb connection and a dummy battery and it will stream in 1080 for hours and hours, zero issues. No third party apps required (looking at you Canon), just plug n play.
I bought the a6700 as a successor to the a6600 mainly for the much improved focusing technology. It does things the older cameras can't do and that is lock onto insects and birds far better. It's an amazing camera, well built, good feel in the hand, etc.
I love my A6700 it’s such an amazing camera.. brilliant.. I,m a photographer so next had any problems with over heating 😊 happy new year buddy.. Pete 👍👍😊
Went from A6000 to A6700 last summer, and boy, what an upgrade!! On everything!! The only thing that didn`t meet my expectations 100% is the ibis. Most times it works flawless, but sometimes it`s like..ehh what?? Camera shake on a 11mm super wide at 1/30, really controlled situation..why?? And the next tack sharp at 1/4 on a 50 mm.. Really strange! But all in all, a very impressive camera!
Hi I just want to ask if what would you suggest me to buy? Zve10 or zve10 ii? I mainly make DIY crafting videos and some review and product showcase. Can you pls suggest which is best for me? Thanks in advance. =)
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you Have you taken it yet?
Just picked up my a6700 upgraded from a6100. Waiting for the 70-350 to come in for some lunar photography but have other lenses for my regular shooting. Can't wait to see what comes out of this new beast!
@@thefilmalliance if my confidence is there I mostly do a lot of astrophotography and cars with a little bit of cosplay shoots soon start dabbling with videos
yes is the best! but bro!! to be honest i can buy lumix s5ii with 2 lens for 2000 and i will get a full frame! is insane compare to this a6700!! you should compare it! top top
Another great video Joe, thank you! After I fell in love with my a6700 last year, although it was love for the second purchase because my first one overheated very quickly, I sold 3 lenses this year and bought a second a6700. Normally one is fixed on my Sigma 60-600 DG DN OS and the second carries either one of the three great Viltrox lenses 27mm F1.2, 13mm F1.4 or 75mm F1.2. The Samyang 135mm F1.8 is also brilliant. If I want to travel with as little as possible, the Tamron 17-70 is on it. I first wanted to sell my ZV-E10 Mark I, but it almost always has the Nisi 9mm F2.8 on it. The best thing about two a6700 is that you can transfer the camera settings directly to the 2nd body and the muscle memory is simply faster than when changing different bodies.
Hey, thanks so much for watching and sharing your experience - I'm right there with you - the a6700 is a fantastic camera. It's great to hear how you've built your system around two of them. Having a dedicated setup for your Sigma 60-600 and then switching between those Viltrox primes sounds super efficient. And the muscle memory thing is so true It's funny how those little cameras like the ZV-E10 can stick around even when we think we're done with them. That Nisi 9mm is a tempting combo for sure. Thanks again for the detailed comment and for the support
I bought this when it came out even though I typically shoot with full frame bodies (I only shoot stills) but along came the two full frame compact C bodies which I got. That said so far I’ve kept this camera because I like the array of the smaller APS-C lenses. My go to are the Sigma 10-18/2.8 and 18-50/2.8 DC DN lenses but also really like the Viltrox 27/1.2 Pro. The 70-350mm G is another lens that’s easy to recommend to an APS-C owner even if you own bigger and heavier telephoto zooms for full frame. Thank you and take care.
Hey Steven, thanks for sharing your thoughts after a year of use. It's always helpful to hear from someone who's really put a camera through its paces. I appreciate the perspective from a full-frame shooter. It's interesting to see why you've kept the a6700 in your kit. Great point about the APS-C lens selection. There are some fantastic options out there that are cheap. I need to get some more. I agree, those Sigma lenses are fantastic. They offer great image quality and versatility in a compact package. I want that Viltrox 27 bad- I may have to rent it. The 70-350mm is a great choice for APS-C. It's surprisingly lightweight and the reach is fantastic. Thats another one that I would like to purchase for wildlife and birding. I understand the appeal of full-frame, but APS-C definitely has its advantages, especially when it comes to size and weight. It's great that you've found a balance between full-frame and APS-C in your kit.
I live stream with my a6700. Just set it in 1080p, flip out the screen and done. I have livestreamed for an hour and a half using OBS cam connected through USB C, no issues.
I actually got mine to overheat recently, which was slightly unnerving. I was recording multiple takes of footage in 4k60. Not in a continuous stretch - but I had it plugged into usbc power and left it on between takes and sometimes reviewed footage on it, so I think that wasn't allowing it to cool between takes. That's on me, but certainly also means I have to have heating issues in mind using this camera, unlike my old zv-e10 where I can just do whatever I want :)
Yes. One thing I wish companies would do these days is simply give me an interchangeable photography camera without video. I would like a high mega pickle cam full frame that did just photographs. I don’t really care about videography, so half of my camera isn’t really out to use, but at least I have it as a just in case
I definitely understand your point of view. It would be nice to have the option for a dedicated photography camera without all the video features. I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there who feel the same way. For now, it seems like most cameras are hybrid, but who knows, maybe we'll see more dedicated photo cameras in the future
@@thefilmalliance If you read this, you can get that camera, only they will be used. I'm talking about a real film camera, no bells and whistles. I'm talking cameras like the Nikon F2, FE2, FM2, Pentax, Minolta, Canon FTB/F1, Olympus OM1. Being film cameras, they can't be used to make videos. Problem solved.
5:52 I prefer the xs20 because of 6.2K long gop, I can record horizontal and yet cut a 9:16 frame in 4k for social media, no need to put the camera in vertical all the time, and I like the fact that I can record RAW external in the fujifilm too.
Love the video man great job. I do have a question for you about timing of this video. Did Sony push out folks to start making videos on the 6700 b/c I’m seeing a few of them pop up right now from big❤ Sony RUclipsrs just curious.
@@thefilmalliance you and Jason were the 2 I saw but I have seen this before with other cameras. Main one was Insta360 ha. Go figure. I was just curious. Thanks Cheers
Great video. I used to have the Sony A6000 and 6400 first, but traded the 6400 to the 6700 and I am super satisfied with it. I do a lot of photoshooting with it and also videos to my RUclips channel. I have to say that I´m really in love with this camera and have no thoughts about selling it because of it´s versatility and performance. It almost shoots better videos then my Sony AX-53 camcorder (using it mostly with the night vision mode).
Hey, thanks for the kind words about the video. It's awesome to hear you've had such a positive experience upgrading from the a6400 to the a6700. It sounds like you're really putting it through its paces with both photos and videos, and that's exactly what this camera is made for. I'm not surprised you're loving the versatility and performance - it really is a fantastic all-around camera. And the fact that it's giving your AX-53 a run for its money (except for that night vision, of course) is a testament to its video capabilities. Keep creating awesome content, thanks again
Hey Jun, thanks for checking out the video. I'm glad you found it helpful. And you're absolutely right, the a6700 is a fantastic blend of power and portability. It's great to hear you've been enjoying its versatility. Yeah, I've noticed a bit of warmth too, (at first I thought you meant white balance warmth) especially during longer video recordings or when pushing the camera hard in hot weather. But like you, I haven't experienced any full-on overheating issues. It seems like Sony did a decent job managing the heat overall. Thanks again for the comment
It's nearly perfect for me. Only thing I'd like to see really is a second card slot just to reduce the risk of data lost from card failure. Or at least have it auto-upload JPEGs to my phone as I'm taking photos. Otherwise it's about as much camera performance as I expect to ever need.
I'm glad to hear the a6700 is working out so well for you. A second card slot or auto-upload feature would definitely be nice additions, especially for peace of mind and convenience. It's great that the camera is meeting your needs in terms of performance - that's what matters most in the end. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. What lenses are you rocking?
@@thefilmalliance Favourite is the Sigma 56 f1.4. I'm experimenting between the Sigma 23 f1.4 and Viltrox 27mm f1.2 to see which I like more (tough call so for now I have both). I highly regret selling my old Sony 35mm f1.8 and the 55-210 zoom. And the old Rokinon 12mm f2 for the odd wide shot. Thinking of getting the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 as they seem to be great quality, if large and heavy, but I suspect would give amazing results when you need a bit of reach. I think of the Viltrox Pro lenses as the ones you use when you temporarily need that "full frame" look/light, but it comes with the size/weight. Sony 11mm and Sigma 18-50 are also on the list eventually to try.
I was this close on buying the a6700, but I buy the X-S20. The reason was because of personality and the built-in flash. I wanted something that has legacy and a big community like the recipes on fuji. Sony is not there yet I see them more for professional work where on the fuji is more creative on the go. I super acknowledge that the autofocus is much better on the Sony and now that I own the Fuji I can see the contrast.
I never been a fan of Sony cameras, but now i am ready to make the upgrade to A6700, i never use AF, and i will not, but to be fear, this camera sweet my camera operation for surf filming.
Agree that you should have real time comparison that you create. Rent the cameras take pictures/ video same day & time. It’s a pain but well worth it if you want to compare.. Personally I do not like the weight and price of Nikon glass so I will go in a different direction.
Love your videos man. I almost ended up buying a Sony A6700 off the back of your previous videos, as I already have a Sony ZV1 MK1. However, I wanted a different look to what most people were using on RUclips so I ended up getting the Fuji XH2S. Both are great cameras.
Hey man, thanks so much for watching the video. I'm glad my content almost convinced you to grab the a6700. It's a fantastic little camera, and I've really enjoyed using it this past year. It sounds like you made a great choice with the Fuji XH2S too - it's a beast of a camera, and I'm sure it gives your videos a unique look. I totally get wanting to stand out from the crowd on RUclips, and having a different camera is a great way to do that. Keep up the awesome work, and thanks for chiming in
I’m so torn between this a6700 and the Fujifilm X-S20…I’m wanting to upgrade to a newer camera from my X-T2 to be able to shoot nicer action sports videos and photos (as a hobby). I love the Fujifilm colors, the Fuji lenses are amazing, and 6.2K OG filming would be handy, I think, for me. But, the Sony AF…plus 4K120 (even with crop)…plus a few other things make it look really, REALLY enticing. For me, the only thing that concerns me is the range-finder style viewfinder…I shoot left-eyed and the couple of times I’ve tried a RF style body I’ve not been 100% comfortable…perhaps this is something which I will just get used to? Either way, great summary on this awesome camera!
Just picked up a used a6300, looking for SD cards for it now. What write speed is needed? Is 100mbs enough? I saw that it needed 32mbs but that seems slow
I love my A6700. I knew the stab was going to be a huge step up from the ZV-E10 (only 14% crop in Active) but when I shot in S-Log3 for the first time and saw all the info in my scopes that was the biggest surprise. Using the Phantom Luts, it seems S-Log3 is more forgiving, kind of like RAW for photos. I'm wondering why I would ever shoot in anything else, even when vlogging. Even if the Base ISO is 800, just use an ND. Am I missing any downsides? Lowlight? Seems the high base ISO's would work in its favor.
Hey there Tim, You're preaching to the choir with that a6700 love! The IBIS is a game-changer, but that S-Log3 experience is something else, isn't it? Seeing all that dynamic range in the scopes felt like discovering a hidden superpower. The Phantom LUTs definitely make it less intimidating, and yeah, it's almost like shooting RAW video. I've been tempted to use S-Log3 exclusively too - I do use ND filters which make the higher base ISO a non-issue for me The only things I've noticed are that S-Log3 does add an extra step in post-production, so if you're in a rush, it might not be the best choice. Also, some auto modes can be a bit finicky with the higher base ISO, but manual control is always there to save the day. Honestly, the flexibility and image quality of S-Log3 make those minor things fade away but I prefer shooting mostly in S-Cinetone It's definitely worth exploring for all sorts of shooting scenarios!
@@thefilmalliance Since I can "copy" the color grades (including all of the nodes) to all the clips in Davinci in a couple of clicks and then make minor adjustments after the first, S-Log3 is going to be my go-to from now on!
I always enjoy your editing style. You use Final Cut Pro right? Would you ever consider doing an editing guide video? With plugins you like/use and tips and tricks? I would love that.
how about using full frame lenses on the a6700? I have the sony a7iii with tamrons 17-28 and 28-200, 35mm GM, samyang 135. I wouldn't really buy any aps c lenses for the a6700 which I would buy exclusively as a B cam or travel cam. Do you recommend it or better stick with full frame? I would put the tamron 28-200 for the extra reach, mainly
@@thefilmalliance I am a little bit confused about my budget actually. It's about 1500 with a lens. Based on that, your quiz gave me zv-e10 and a 6700 as a result. So, I figured a zv-e10 mark 2 would be a good mid-way. I could get the a6700 with a nifty fifty or a zv-e10 mark 2 with a couple of lenses. So that's why I was asking whether it would be better for me to buy the zv-e10 mark 2 with multiple lenses over this with only one (or two if you include kit lens).
While I think the Canon R7 body is good enough, Sony definitely has the upper hand when it comes to lens selection. I can't wait to get the a6700 myself. Enjoyed watching your video!
Great video as always, my man. I have the a6700, however, I’d like to use it as a B cam. I’m leaning towards purchasing my first full frame camera which I will use as an A cam. The cameras in question are the a7s III, or the ZV E1. Would very much appreciate your insight in both cams. Thanks and again great video. 🍻
Hey there, it all depends on what you’re shooting. The Sony a7S III is a powerhouse for professional video work, and is my main Acam It's highly favored by filmmakers and content creators who need superior image quality, dynamic range, and flexibility in post-production. I just found out they shot a lot of Civil War the movie with it. In contrast, the Sony ZV-E1 is designed with vlogging and content creation in mind, which offers compact and travel-friendly experience. It’s ideal for solo creators who are blogging and getting Broll shots, but not so much head shots because it does overheat. While the a7S III excels in demanding environments where high performance is crucial, the ZV-E1 provides a more accessible and convenient solution for everyday video creation. Does that help?
I currently have the A6600 along with the ZVE10 and I know the 67 is probably better than the 66. I mostly use the 66 for photos so I'm not sure the upgrade would be in my best interest. Are the photos that come out of the 67 that much better than the 66? Love your work by the way!
Hey, thanks for watching and for the kind words! I appreciate it. The a6700 definitely has some advantages over the a6600, especially when it comes to video features like 4K 60p (and 4K 120 but with a crop) and improved autofocus. In terms of photo quality, the differences might be less noticeable for most users, especially if you're primarily shooting in good lighting conditions. If you're happy with the photos you're getting from the a6600 and mostly use it for stills, then it might not be the most worthwhile upgrade for you right now or upgrade your lens. However, if you're looking to step up your video game or want to future-proof your setup, the a6700 is a solid option. Ultimately, the best way to decide is to try out the a6700 yourself if you can. See if the improvements are meaningful for your specific needs and shooting style. You can always rent it from Lensrentals. I have a coupon code in the description
I am planning to buy an a6700 (thanks to your a6700 videos) but I am a little confused about the lenses for the a6700. Could you please suggest an all-around lens with high-quality results for a beginner? thanks
Hey there, thanks so much for watching my videos and for your comment I'm glad they were helpful in your decision to go with the a6700. When it comes to a versatile lens for beginners, the Sony 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 is a fantastic option and one of my favorites. It gives you a really good zoom range, from wide-angle to telephoto, so it's perfect for everything from landscapes to portraits. The image quality is excellent too, so you'll get sharp and vibrant photos. It's a great way to start exploring different types of photography without having to switch lenses all the time. But a bigger question is whats your budget? Of course, there are other great lenses out there too, but this one is a solid choice to get you started.
Nice review! The IBIS still not that great (hence you often using a gimbal), but for static shots it seems fine. It seems like a great hybrid and as well as some great APSC lenses, not too expensive (Viltrox and Sigma).
Thanks a lot for checking out the video! You're spot on about the IBIS. It's definitely improved, but a gimbal's still the way to go for really smooth footage. For those static shots though, it does the trick. And yeah, the A6700 being a great hybrid is a big plus for me, along with those awesome, budget-friendly APS-C lenses from Viltrox and Sigma. Makes it a solid setup without breaking the bank. Did you pickup the a6700?
I’m thinking about whether to get the A6700 or the A7IV. What holds me back from the A7IV is that I have quite a few lenses that are APS-C. Do you think I should take a big step and switch to the A7IV, or since I have more APS-C lenses, should I stick to the APS-C line and go for the A6700?
Definitely go for 7IV any day. Comparing Crop sensor with a full frame is a gimmick to stay in the game of camera blasphemy, You will know it when you will buy one and also all your APSC lenses can be used on your A7IV. Peace!
A6700 is a great camera. However, it lets me down sometimes in low-light conditions. I was wondering about adding a used full frame for photography only. With a tight budget, what's your recommendation? A7iii, A7riii or even A7cii?
For photography, I notice that when the 6700 operates in a mode where the camera sets ISO automatically, it wants to set the ISO high. My experience is that when ISO is at 3200 or above, there is a fair amount of noise. The workaround for me is to adjust the settings to a max ISO limit and of course, try to use a fast prime lens wherever possible. For video, if you use the 2nd native ISO of 2500, it is actually pretty clean especially when exposed properly in SLOG3. Lots of good advice available on RUclips for proper exposure.
@@mariopassalacqua6674 thanks man! I usually shoot video in contrlled light, so no problem in video. Also for photo, I have no problem with my sigma 30 1.4 or viltrox 75 1.2, but when it comes to zoom lenses like sigma 10-18 f2.8, even iso 3200 is not enough to expose properly. I need slow shutter around 1/20 which is not desirable in many conditions.
Every lens has its different use for different applications even for vlogging. Have you tried taking my lens quiz? This may get you in the right direction.
Yes, several. Every lens has its different use for different applications. Have you tried taking my lens quiz on my website? This may get you in the right direction for your specific needs.
Thinking of getting at least 1 full frame body. Looking at A7CR or A7CII. Would you suggest one of those? I take mainly photographs with video mixed in.
I've been really divided by the a6700 and FX30, both great cameras. But I'm more focused on video, but I have been asked about doing more photography. I started with a canon m50 and have had it for 5 years. It's been great, but it has limitations
Yes I have, it did help at the time when I was just focused on video. But my focus has changed and I want to do both. So, I guess the a6700 is where I'm leaning
Yes, it's all about your specific needs. Hybrid cameras like the a6700 are like the multi-tools of the camera world-they're designed to shoot excellent photos AND high-quality video. They are the perfect bridge between a traditional mirrorless and a dedicated vlog cams like the ZV-E10. They're a great choice for people who want one camera to handle both stills and videos, especially vloggers and content creators who need that flexibility. On the other hand, cinema cameras like the fx30 are purpose-built for filmmaking. They pack features like higher bitrates, wider dynamic range, and more robust codecs, giving you incredible control over the image in post-production. They often have larger sensors and dedicated tools for video workflow, but they might not be as versatile in still photography. So, hybrid cameras offer a great balance of photo and video capabilities, while cinema cameras deliver top-tier video quality and control for professional filmmaking. DOes that make sense? Hopefully, that helps clear things up a bit!
Hey we all gotta start somewhere, so welcome. Have you taken my camera quiz or looked at my "which camera should I buy" course? It's full of info that anyone just starting out will find incredibly useful. It will also give you the answers to all your questions about which would be best suited for you. I made it in hopes to help any new user find the perfect camera, it's on my website and linked in description.
naa i will pass .on this a6700....a sony a7cii for the compact size in a full frame body almost the same as a sony a7iv but with more shooting modes for certain scenarios is a good option i feel....BTW this video is similar to lets say jason vong on the same very subject if i am not mistaken which came out today ........nice work👍
But the more of money, the more weight, the more of size of camera and lenses? Yes the A7Cii has a small body, but this has only it´s adavantages if you use only very special and compact lenses.
Yes if you only carry a camera without a lens. TRy put on a normal range zoom lens on A7Cii and see if the weight is still ok compared to APSC zoom lens. By the way, there is a test about A7Cii overheats even faster than A6700

Hello from Greece! In the video you say that in comparison the fugifilm xs20 is better in quality. (after all quality is the main thing..) there is a big difference in quality (photo and video) Finally a warm request because you are very involved with Sony. It would be very interesting if you could make us a video with Sony's colors (a lot of people are unhappy with Sony) Could we do some of the color simulation profiles in Nikon or Canon?
I heard certain SD cards, particularly Sandisk, caused overheating on a6700 while other brands' did not. Can you test whether it's true in the future? Thanks.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I’m also using a6700 with a Sandisk SD card but it’s speed is not fast enough for 10 bit video to test overheating issue.
I have a zv-1 and I made a youtube video with it. It's my A Cam for studio. For travel I use Pocket 3 in auto mostly since once I tried ZV-1 as the A-Cam at one destination but I couldn't set up the scene right with the screen and it came out overexposed and setting up everything took a lot of time versus the result I got. So I am thinking of getting one A6700 and take it as my A cam for A and Pocket as B cam. And For studio, I can keep A6700 as the A Cam and ZV-1. What do you think will ZV-1 go well with this as a B CAM for color matching and frame size matching or would I have to do a lot of editing magic with it? For travel I don't want to carry anything big than one camera that has excellent stabilization so I am sorted with A6700 there. Please share your thoughts.
Also, I have started doing some shoot for clients like hotels/restaraunts to make some money off of my camera hobby and invesments that I make in them, I did my first video with a hotel. it came out great as per my expecations and my client's I used the ZV-1. Although I had to shoot everything in 4k 25 since didnt' have a lot of time in the rooms to change up settings often or have non matching exposure settings and I also used a DJI RS3 mini that I got along with my ZV-1. I am also looking to use the A6700 for this as well will there any added benefit in that usecase over the ZV-1? P.S- Clients also ask for pictures sometimes even though I primarily offer them promo/brand videos. Heres the video that I created btw - ruclips.net/video/aKZTAAX5Yo4/видео.html (It's just my 1st promo shot and edited ever, you can share your feedback!)
Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience and questions. It sounds like you've got a good handle on your current setup, using the ZV-1 for studio work and the Pocket 3 for travel. The a6700 definitely seems like a solid upgrade for your A-cam, especially with its improved stabilization and versatility. Pairing the ZV-1 with the a6700 as a B-cam might require some color grading and reframing in post, but it's definitely doable. The a6700's larger sensor and higher bitrate will give you more flexibility in matching the footage. Is your editing rig strong enough to handle the a6700s footage and file size? For travel, the a6700's compact size and excellent stabilization make it a great choice. You'll likely appreciate the added control and image quality compared to the Pocket 3, especially in challenging lighting situations. -I know I sure do. Its been great Using the a6700 for client work will definitely offer benefits over the ZV-1. You'll have more creative control with manual settings, better low-light performance, and the ability to capture high-quality stills alongside your videos. Overall, the a6700 seems like a great fit for your evolving needs. It will provide a significant upgrade in image quality and versatility, both for your personal projects and client work. Also future proofing yourself
@@thefilmalliance hey thanks for such a detailed answer and all your help you do with in depth comparison videos. I bought ZV 1 last year after being confused and watching your comparison videos in the end. Now it's much more clearer that a6700 would be a good choice! Only thing is I would have to check the a6700 footages from somewhere and edit on my rig if it can handle it and if I am being able to see and use the extra benefits. My current rig is not the best but is really great for my current setup. It's a laptop with an i9 13th gen HX processor which should be able to handle stuff like a desktop i7 does. And I upgraded to 64gb ram because 16gigs gave me frozen premiere Pro with multi layered long 4k timelines all the time. Now that issue is not there but premier just doesn't run smoothly still and it has a lot of issues. I think though it doesn't have to be my system. It may be premiere itself because a lot of people complain about it crashing when using certain features which it does for me as well like when masking. Anyways thanks again for so much awesome infor!
Hi. I've watched all your videos regarding the a6700 and also a7cii. I'm considering between these 2 cameras. I'm shooting maybe 70% video and 30% stills. I like the idea of the full frame, as my stills are mostly macro. Hope u can help me with a few things I'm abit lost about 1) on the A7Cii, if I shoot 4k 60, it's in crop mode. Will using an apsc lens from the a6700 yield the same results as the a6700 itself?.. 2) which would be a better camera for me? Thanks buddy
Here's my thought. I'm gonna shoot in 60fps primarily. So using an apsc lens for it should yield the same results using a ff with the 60fos crop. Am I right? Or will I lose quality. Stills, I will use back ff lens
Hmmm, I’d say a6700 but honestly For that I would point you to the “Which Camera Should I Buy” course and free camera quiz I created. It will help you figure out the best choice for what you plan on using it for. I left a link in the description of my latest video.
Hey Tim, im from México and i watched almost all of your videos, i'll get the a6700 this week for about 20,000 pesos (like 1,000 dollars), is that a good offer? And pair it with the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8, its that a good combo? I want to get the best quality possible and at the same time covering a good focal lenght, in the future i would like to buy some other lenses but at the time i have a very limited budget (im 21 years old), what do you think? Thanks and excuse the inconvenience, hoping for your response!
I always film with my new a6700 with stabilization active but its still pretty shake while walking or motion shots.. but when i apply stabilization in post in final cut pro the footage gets wobbly.. absolutely unusable.. Any Tips??
Hey, thanks for checking out the video. It's interesting to hear about your experience with stabilization. I've personally found the in-body stabilization to be pretty effective, but it definitely has its limits, especially with lots of movement. The wobbly footage after applying stabilization in post is a bummer. It might be worth experimenting with different stabilization settings in Final Cut Pro or trying out other stabilization software. Sometimes, a combination of in-camera and post-stabilization can yield the best results. Would you mind sharing some more details about your shooting setup and settings? Things like lens choice, focal length, walking speed, and any other stabilization techniques you're using could help pinpoint the issue. Do you have enough budget to pick up a gimbal? Feel free to keep me updated on your stabilization journey, and I'll do my best to offer any further tips or advice. Thanks
I’ve been thinking about a6700 or a7c i mainly do 70:30 photo to video, can you recommend me what should i buy, the secondhand price in my country is very similiar between those 2
It sounds like you're torn between two great cameras. Have you taken my quiz yet? That may help you get on the right track. Since the prices are similar, let's focus on your shooting style to help you decide. You mentioned you mainly do photo, with some video mixed in. In that case, I'd lean towards recommending the a6700. It has faster autofocus and a larger buffer, which are really helpful for capturing those decisive moments in photography. While the a7C is no slouch with video, the a6700's dedicated photo features give it an edge if stills are your priority. Of course, if you find yourself doing more and more video work in the future, the a7C's full-frame sensor and IBIS might become more appealing. But for your current 70:30 split, the a6700 seems like a strong contender. Ultimately, the best way to decide is to try them out if you can. I recommend renting both of them from Lensrentals, I left a discount in the description
Sir can you u make a video about the photography capabilities of FX30 as I am inclined towards FX30 for shooting short films...but sometimes i waana take some photos for myself.....so is it possible to click pictures of good quality with FX30....Plz guide ....from India....
Thanks for watching and for your comment. I hear you on wanting to see more about the FX30's photography side. I'll definitely consider doing a dedicated video on that in the future. The FX30 is primarily a video-centric camera, but it can certainly capture good-quality photos. It has a 26MP APS-C sensor which is plenty for detailed shots. Keep in mind though, some features geared toward photography might be a bit more streamlined compared to dedicated photo cameras. If you're mainly into filmmaking and want occasional good photos, the FX30 can handle it. If you're super serious about photography, you might want to explore other options. Does that make sense? I hope this helps I appreciate your support
I need a camera for a product review I was paid to make. So I need good video for that. However, I mainly need a camera for product photography. I have been pushing off my purchase for 3 months, hoping a canon r7mk2, canon r6 mk3, sony a7v, or any of the cameras that are coming. I know I'm going to pull the trigger, and the a7v will get announced. I just can't wait any longer. Feels bad these companies gate keel the way they do.
As a beginner, I want to buy my first camera and only for photography, not videography. I don't know which one to choose between the 3 canon R8, a6700, and a6400. I would be grateful if someone could help me.
Thats actually a great question. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for what you are using it for. Have you taken it yet?
@@thefilmallianceYes, I checked and the suggested option for a beginner was the A6700, but the other two options still make it difficult for me to choose. I like Canon R8 because of the higher quality of its photos, but there are problems such as not having ibis and a weak battery, and not having a variety of lenses compared to Sony, and personally, the design of the camera I like Sony a lot more And I like the a6400 option because of its reasonable price. As far as I know, it gives me the same image quality as the 6700 in landscape photography. Street photography. When traveling, I like to have a camera with me to take pictures of the things I enjoy, but I think the 6400 is too old.
Hello ‘The Film Alliance’, I am writing to you with a very personal request. I bought the Sony a6700 3 months ago, a great camera and I know that you also like it very much. I am not a professional photographer, but I have been a hobbyist for many years. I have had in my hands many cameras, Nikon, Panasonic, Canon, Sony, etc... but none like the a6700, none. As an expert photographer that you are, I would like you to create a video where you can advise me on the best settings for both photography and video. I know that it is not facial to create videos, but as I know that you are a great lover of the a6700, maybe it would be a pleasure for you to do it. Without further ado, and thanking you in advance, I bid you farewell, Pius from Barcelona.
Hey Pius from Barcelona, thanks for reaching out and for the kind words about my videos. I'm thrilled to hear you're enjoying the a6700 as much as I do. It's a truly fantastic camera that packs a punch. While I can't promise a full-fledged dedicated video on settings right now, I'd be happy to add it to my to-do list. Thank you
@@thefilmalliance Thank you for responding so promptly to my message. Don't worry, I'm trying out the settings for the time being. When you feel like it and have time, or both at the same time, you'll be able to start with the video of the settings. Thanks again and congratulations for your channel. It's a pleasure to enjoy it. After the Firmware update of my sony a6700, I never had any overheat warning, I love my a6700

I just bought an A6700 two weeks ago and your reviews are in part, a big reason i made that purchase. Thank you for all you do and share with us!
Hey there,
That's awesome to hear.
Literally got mine 4 days ago, no idea what to do with it now lol
haha thats funny
I've been shooting with the a6700 for about a year now. It's light, it's fast, and the quality is amazing.
Nice man glad to hear it, I know others will appreciate this review as well.
That's awesome man! Means a lot. Keep up the good work and great attitude. People like you make it far in life.
I have the 6700 and A7c II, love both but this 6700 coupled with my Sony 11mm 1.8 is a dream come true for my needs.
Hey, that's awesome to hear. The a6700 and A7c II are both fantastic cameras, and it sounds like you've found the perfect pairing for your needs with the 11mm 1.8. It's great when gear just clicks like that. What lens are you using for the A7Cii?
Do you find the a7cii overheats less then the a6700?
Great video. In terms of live-streaming, I stream with it using the usb connection and a dummy battery and it will stream in 1080 for hours and hours, zero issues. No third party apps required (looking at you Canon), just plug n play.
Thanks man for the review!
Good to hear. I’m happy for you. That is strange. Monopod time!
Hi I just want to ask if what would you suggest me to buy? Zve10 or zve10 ii? I mainly make DIY crafting videos and some review and product showcase. Can you pls suggest which is best for me? Thanks in advance. =)

And the muscle memory thing is so true
It's funny how those little cameras like the ZV-E10 can stick around even when we think we're done with them.
Your last point about live streaming helped me decide. ZV-E10 mk2 will be my purchase. Thank you for your well thought out and high quality reviews!
You're welcome! Glad it helped you out!
I live stream with my a6700. Just set it in 1080p, flip out the screen and done. I have livestreamed for an hour and a half using OBS cam connected through USB C, no issues.
Thanks for telling me that. Gotta try it
Great review! Thanks to you, now I’m sold on the 6700 and the Sigma 18-50. Thank you for your replies!
Glad to help!
thank god you made another video im 3 weeks away from getting it, been saving up for it im so excited 🙏
Good stuff, what lenses will you be picking up with it?
@@thefilmalliance so far just getting the kit lenses but might get the nifty fifty later on or the sony 28-70mm

But the 6700 is a much better camera overall than zv e10
@@paulneedham9885 definitely

Ha! Thats funny. This bunny is my new mascot. Thanks for your kind words
Best camera lumix s5mark ii ..? Sony 6700..? canon r8..?
Sony a6700 for sure
I second this
To be fair, I'd like to see the XH2s sensor, which should've been implemented in a6700, in the a6800 body with dual CFA/SD card slots and better IBIS.
And open gate?

Awesome video! Super versatile camera with small form factor. Although I notice it does get warm time to time, I never had it overheat
I use a A6700 and 2 A6400 for my podcast
What about the Sony ZVE10 Mark ii? No IBIS but on par with most specs + cheaper.
True but no EVF. Did you pick up the ZV-E10 II ?
@@thefilmalliance I did buy one. I use only for video and don’t need an EVF. Just wish it had IBIS but it’s still a great camera.
I agree. I found the stabilization in the ZV-E10 II is better than the a6700
4k 60fps crop 1.1 on zv ii 🙁🙁🙁
I bought the ZVE10 II even when I'm mainly a still photographer. It's actually quite great lol, as I don't have the budget for the a6700.
can you compare this with the a7c now? a7c is a lot cheaper than this apsc camera and i'm wondering if going down to a crop sensor is worth it
I was this close on buying the a6700, but I buy the X-S20.
Man if only Fuji figured out their autofocus. I'd love the x-s20 but I'm choosing the a6700 because of autofocus.
You're right, a side by side comparison would be very helpful. Thanks for the great tip.
After comparing with MFTs, I got it. Yes. I am using it. With ZV1 as B Cam...
Thats a great setup. What lenses?
@@thefilmalliance I only use 1 lens for now, saving to get a proper prime, etc. Using Tamron 17-70 2.8. Serving me well so far.
I hear you on the viewfinder, but it's probably something you can adapt to over time. I know I did
Finally getting mine in three weeks, really looking forward to it. Already bought a Ulunzi cooling fan for it/ Over heat issue solved :0
How about a comparison with the ZV-E1 ?
Thanks for the suggestion!
Just picked up a used a6300, looking for SD cards for it now. What write speed is needed? Is 100mbs enough? I saw that it needed 32mbs but that seems slow
I am a casual traveler, loves to shoot normal photos, shall I go for 6600 or 6700?
I've been tempted to use S-Log3 exclusively too - I do use ND filters which make the higher base ISO a non-issue for me
The only things I've noticed are that S-Log3 does add an extra step in post-production, so if you're in a rush, it might not be the best choice.
Good call Tim
What lenses do you recommend for travel photography, street and landscape. From primes to telephoto?
I always enjoy your editing style. You use Final Cut Pro right? Would you ever consider doing an editing guide video? With plugins you like/use and tips and tricks? I would love that.
Hey there, thanks. That’s a great idea. Let me nibble on that thought. I’ll let you know if I come up with something.
I love mine. But the camera is better than I am. Still learning everything
Ha, good way to put it. Are you manually exposing? Or still program auto?
Which lens would be best for vlogging on the a6700 for RUclips & for taking pictures for Instagram? Appreciate it!
Viltrox 13mm f1.4 is what I would do for vlogging
how about using full frame lenses on the a6700?
I have the sony a7iii with tamrons 17-28 and 28-200, 35mm GM, samyang 135. I wouldn't really buy any aps c lenses for the a6700 which I would buy exclusively as a B cam or travel cam. Do you recommend it or better stick with full frame? I would put the tamron 28-200 for the extra reach, mainly
For solely video, is this enough of a step up over ZV e-10 mark 2 for the price difference?
It depends on your lens you have or are using. Have you taken my quiz? It's on my website and should help.
Thanks, yes great point. The lenses you can get from third party companies and the budget friendly options are amazing.
Is this camera good for like weddings? Graduations etc?
Absolutely a6700 is incredible have very sharp image especially for video 4k is indistinguisable from Sony full frame camera
@@thefilmalliance ~ This helps me out a great deal. Good lookin’ out, my mans! 🍻👊🏾
Good stuff, thanks
I wish Sony would offera firmware update to give this camera raw video output for the sony ocn codec just a 10 bit version of it.
I sold my black magic 4k because it had no evf. With the 6700 I can do more and with davinci resolve I can do so much more
I am planning to buy an a6700 (thanks to your a6700 videos) but I am a little confused about the lenses for the a6700.
@@thefilmalliance for the lens my budget is 500-1000$... I will use the lens mostly for portraits and landscape photos.
Id go with a prime lens for portraits and a wide lens for landscapes
Thanks for a good video, Where did you get the song Coast Highway to be used in this video?
Yes with the proper lens. Do you own any lenses? I have some resources on my website that can hopefully help you.
I cover events like Gamescon or Comicon. What lenses do you recommend for video and photos?
Have you taken my lens quiz yet? It should help narrow it down for you.
Go for A6700 absolutely GOAT of APSC ever made
Definitely go for 7IV any day.
Great video..

I hear ya. Have you seen the a6700 vs fx30 video I created? That may help you with your decision
Thank you, that helps alot
My pleasure

Id say probably the A7IV without the advanced autofocus capabilities.

Its been great
Using the a6700 for client work will definitely offer benefits over the ZV-1.
HI, nice video...Which fullframe zoom lens is the best for 6700..is SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II good ?
Hi. I've watched all your videos regarding the a6700 and also a7cii. I'm considering between these 2 cameras. I'm shooting maybe 70% video and 30% stills. I like the idea of the full frame, as my stills are mostly macro. Hope u can help me with a few things I'm abit lost about
1) on the A7Cii, if I shoot 4k 60, it's in crop mode. Will using an apsc lens from the a6700 yield the same results as the a6700 itself?..
2) which would be a better camera for me?
Thanks buddy
If you want full frame, then you should go for the a7cii. Do not forget that the lenses are so much more expensive in FF.
Do you think its worth upgrading from the zve10 for bird photography? Btw I prefer to shoot with an apsc
Yes, as long as you get the right lenses. What lenses do you have?
@thefilmalliance for now i have the sony 70-350mm f4-6.3 so im a little bit concerned how the a6700 handles noise in lowlight photography

I like Canon R8 because of the higher quality of its photos, but there are problems such as not having ibis and a weak battery, and not having a variety of lenses compared to Sony, and personally, the design of the camera I like Sony a lot more
And I like the a6400 option because of its reasonable price. As far as I know, it gives me the same image quality as the 6700 in landscape photography. Street photography. When traveling, I like to have a camera with me to take pictures of the things I enjoy, but I think the 6400 is too old.
@@thefilmallianceSorry for the long text
But do you think the best choice is still 6700?
In that case I’d say a6700 due to the lens selection
Yes I’d say a6700 for what your doing
Pius
