    This is how every car maintenance video should be done ,This guy knows what he is doing using proper tools
    Relaxing to watch and did a proper job with the clutch, I haven't done a clutch for a good few years but the clutch concentric slave cylinder on my Peugeot 3008 has
    just failed, So I know what I will be doing this week.

    Merci encore !

    Hello kevin Just came across your channel few days ago.
    As a mechanic myself, truck mechanic I should say. Id have to say its pretty impressive to see how you go about this job. How you lay the rubber mats down, no mess right tools for the job, nice to see. I dont watch many mobile mechcnic videos just because they are usually a poor standard of work but your video has changed my opinion on that.. It's not easy work what you're doing, especially being in England with the cold and wet just like Ireland's weather.. great video's Kevin cheers Niall

      #Allthegearbutnoidea MAN/Western Star Truck & Bus thanks for a great feedback. Means a lot. Being a mechanic yourself it’s great to get your perspective as it’s quite a demanding job on the body especially outside.
      But one I don’t do is compromise on the quality of my repair. I was a master Tech for land rover for 6 years. Almost exactly 6 years ago. 🍺🍻🍻🍺

    Great video and very informative that inspired me (keen DIY) to attempt this very awkward and time consuming job.
    Unfortunately this job fought me all the way and threw up problem after problem that at times made be wish i hadn't
    started, but having reached the point of no return and knowing that a garage would have charged a fortune if in the same position,
    made me carry on.
    Firstly the nearside driveshaft would not separate from the hub, no matter how hard I hit it which forced me into stripping
    it down and removing the complete assembly and only once removed placing in bench vice and using club hammer did
    it eventually yield, allowing me to grease the splines just in case for the future.
    The most frustrating and time consuming part was the removal of the six torque bolts holding the flywheel on to the crankshaft,
    Four came out ok but the last two fought me all the way and after eventually removing No five - No six just would not budge and
    eventually the star shape was so rounded that I had to literally use a grinding wheel to destroy the DMF to allow me to use a
    pipe wrench to grip the head to get it out. (took two days to get just the last two bolts out)
    Good luck to future mechanics or keen D.I.Y 'ers and think on before tackling.

      Next time ! Undo the drive shaft nuts and then drive around the block , that will loosen them off , just loosen the big nut a few turns then drive 5 miles max then they slip off easy ( OLD TRICK FOR ALL CARS ) And the 6 swine star drive bolts , undo one then retighten fully , do that to all of them then undo them 1 at a time ! Undo 5 and full force of the flywheel on the last bolt & one thread , very hard to remove as you found out ! Not an easy job this clutch so as your DIY , well done lad , swine of a job !

    Great video. About to do the same job on an identical car and this will really help me out. The pressure plate is supposed to be a self adjusting one needing the special tool kit to install it. Did you just use the tighten it up progressively and evenly technique to save using the tool?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад

      Rich Mc thanks for the review. Self adjusting is simply as the clutch plate wears down the pressure plate mechanism slowly adjust itself to compensate for the gap. It’s nothing with the clutch alignment.
      If you have a look at the channel all the latest videos I’ve posted it shows how to align the clutch plate with pressure plate. You can buy a clutch alignment tool on eBay for about £5.
      Anything feel free to drop a message.

      @@WMCS Thanks for the reply. I have fitted a few standard clutches before and have a cheap clutch alignment tool that I have used successfully. I was referring more to a self adjusting clutch plate fitting tool which works by applying even pressure onto the clutch plate to allow the plate bolts to be done up. This video link demonstrates it ruclips.net/video/Tp5KeAQntGM/видео.html I am assuming you do not use one and have obviously been ok without it.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад

      Rich Mc I suppose this is a marketing video to sell that tool. Which is very expensive. I’ve used it before on BMW as they have to be fitted under tension.
      But nowadays all clutches that require tension before bolting down comes pretensioned ... once you bolt it down then you release it. If you look through the channel on BMW clutch you’ll have an idea ...let me know

Keen DIYer and this is probably the biggest job i've done on a car before.

      Forgot to update this, finally got the job done, tricky as hell and there's like 9 different variations of clutch for this vehicle which was a nightmare, the one major issue I had was those square bolts that hold the subframe on, this vehicle rusts and the bolts cease on so easily, I turned the bolt that holds the subframe to the car and the square nut actually inside the frame just turned and bent the flimsy little flaps holding it in place, it was a nightmare, I had to get the bolts from Peugeot at about 8 quid each and ended up putting a plate in with some lock nuts, but I had to actually cut a piece of the body away because they evidently use a special tool to hold the nut in place, I just couldn't get at it!, besides that I jacked where you did, but only had a piece of wood under it for lowering the engine, the oil pan crumpled. Was a pain to do BUT, for a first time clutch and not a mechanic, was kinda pleased with it, held up enough to trade in and scrap against a better car!, the experience I got doing this gave me such a better understanding of cars, so just wanted to say thank you, I really appreciate the video and couldn't have done it without it!

    first of all great video. My 3008 with electronic gearbox, is revving when i go over 2000RPM. I was told by the Peugeot garage that its the clutch and needs to be changed. They told me that they would change the flywheel, clutch kit and trust. My question is why isn't this defect coming up on the dash board? and also why does the fly wheel needs to be changed? It the major cost at 550 euros.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад +1

      David Falzon it definitely sounds like your clutch system. It won’t show up as it’s just a wear and tear item rather than a malfunction...you definitely need to change the DMF as failure to do so will most likely cause a malfunction to the clutch system sometimes immediately after fitting reason being the DMF centre bearing has a life which matches the clutch if not replaced it will start juddering and worse case starts clattering and if it becomes off centre the centrifugal force of the spin may cause a crack in your gearbox bell housing.

    I'm working on a 308 1.6 HDI with 6 speed manual. It's the same engine and gearbox as in this video. @7:23 you remove a bolt from the back face of the engine/gearbox, however on my engine I can only get a open ended spanner on the bolt which isn't strong enough to undo the bolt. Even if it was the bolt couldn't be extracted as there is a bracket for the dpf filter in the way. Does anyone know how to remove this bracket? Do the dpf filter need to be taken off? I watched the same video for the 1.6 diesel focus. Is it the same process? Its hard for me to work it out as there is a lot of heat shield in the way.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад

      Leave the bracket and DPF.., all you need to do is remove the 13mm nut. Then remove the stud .,, that should give you enough clearance for the ring spanner.
      Then undo it whilst pulling the box away from engine. .,,
