Non filter looks way better to me. The filtered looks very green or too warm.

Yep, Freewell are garbage, the cheapest you can get. This guy is just shilling for them because they gave him a free set.

Polarized filter has 100% effect at 90 degree angle to sun direction. It is great remove glare from sky, water, glass and plastics.
I think matching the WB in post would've been a good idea for a more accurate comparison!

    Thank you for the comparison!
I personally prefer without the filter!
You saved me a couple of bucks and some bad footage, as I was just about to go get a Freewell polarised filter.

I always fly with a polarized filter--happens I use the freewell. What you should address is that the filter can be rotated to change the nature of the polarization. This impacts the nature of the effect. You can try this with your sunglasses since many are polarized too. as you rotate the glasses you see a different image. If you want to do a video on this aspect of polarizing filters I think it would be quite helpful to users. I also think you will be surprised by the impact of a properly set up filter is.

thanks for the comparison here, appreciate it! was the CPL footage "warmed up" in post or do you find the filter to change the color temp? There's an apparent difference in the color of the sand, foliage, etc that wouldn't normally be affected by the benefits of the polarizer. I've never had a CPL that changed the color temp and wanted to reach out for your input here.

great comparisons man!! it'd be great if you compare it with the pgytech. I'm pretty sure the filter is "failing" by changing the tonality as that is not part of what a CPL filter should do

Why do it say 5k when the max resolution on youtube is 4k to view this? Clickbait or did you downscale the 5.4k to 4k? Just a thought.

Just ordered one. I only need one for filming over the water. Had a feeding frenzy of dolphins on bait run today, but can't see them because of the glare. Came straight home to get a Polarizing filter for the drone.

A suggestion - could you please normalize audio in this video?
At 4:08 I had the volume up quite high to hear your commentary, and then the sharp volume hike blew me out of the water.

@@AerialMotionPhotography most video editing software will have an auto normalize feature that should set all your clips to the same level. I use cyberlink powerdirector because I'm not rich, i just hit f9 and then "normalize audio" and bob's your uncle.

Looked to me like everything with the filter pretty much sucked in comparison without. This has not been my experience in photography outside of drones. A polarizing filter nearly always takes the glare out of the sky and the reflections off the water. Your video pretty much convinced me that this is NOT a good polarizing filter. Thanks for putting it together, I found it very enlightening. I will definitely not be purchasing the freewill filter.

I tip I have is if you purchase an individual filter from freewell it comes in a case that holds 4 filters. I bought a clear night filter and now use that case for the filters I use the most.

Your videos are literally split, meaning I can't see one side fully vs the other. I would have liked to see the color difference when in Long Beach but the ND filter side was cropped

    • @AerialMotionPhotography
      @AerialMotionPhotography  3 года назад +1

ohh sorry about that. if I remember right the results were pretty similar to the other examples. The Long Beach water had a darker/deeper green look to it compared to Laguna Beach.
