Himalayan Blue and Taiwan Blue Magpies are no more 'demonic' than other omnivorous passerines of comparable size. Outside of nest and fledgling defense, they are also usually markedly less aggressive towards other birds. They certainly rob nests and prey on small fledglings, but so do many comparably sized birds that are not generally thought of as nest robbers. They also have very pleasing songs. Despite their modest size, Green Magpies are far more predatory relative to their size than the others, and almost rival shrikes as predators. They have long been trained by various aboriginal peoples in SE Asia to catch large insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals for Human consumption, for which reason they are also known as Green Hunting Crows. If given a xanthophyll deficient diet, as is common in zoos, they revert to pastel blue with their next molt.
They are so beautiful
In Malaysia we often to see oriental magpie robin...
The Taiwan Blue Magpie is my favorite. I saw then when I lived in Taipei. I also like the Black and White.
The Magpies in this video are beautiful, thank you for sharing.💙💚💛
These are stunning and, you definitely learn something new every day. I had no idea that there was more than one type of magpie.
