That didn't really make sense to me. My understanding is that every computer has a record of bitcoin transactions and they're not stored on one machine, so what confused me is how he could have lost it if bitcoins aren't stored on any one hard drive. Sorry for replying to something a year old.

No, you can't "hack the bitcoins", The network and protocol itself is hack-proof. The only reason there's been so-called "hacks", is due to insecure 3rd party hosted exchanges and websites. People are stupid and keep giving their coins/wallets to insecure exchanges and 3rd party institutions who proceed to get their website hacked and thus lose their customers' coins. Solution? People need to learn to hold their own coins and secure them themselves instead of giving it to some piece of shit like Mt Gox exchange.
Depends how you look at it. $220 for 1 BTC may seem expensive, but the market cap is still only ~$3bil. As a newly emerging p2p tech, as well as a programmable money/transaction system without limitations, the technology could prove very key in the future. Compare the $3b market cap of BTC to that of Amazon gift cards which has a mcap of ~$15b. Currently, BTC as an all-around/general transaction system is valued lower than a single company's gift card cap. Thus, imo it should keep growing over the years, it's just going to take a while. The technology however (whether it be bitcoin or another implementation), will be around for good.

The big difference is the US Government backs the dollar, while a Bitcoin is allowed to swing wildly. One minute it can be worth 10$, the next 1000$ and the next 10 cents. There are no controls put into place to control the swings, and to stabilize the price. Even Gold has controls on it.

i dont think you understand the concept behind it... think of bitcoins as an investment... the more people who invest the more scarce it is and at the same time individuals decide just how much a bitcoin is worth which leads to the fluctuation in price. if everyone got behind this system it would lead to a more established and equal economy where the GOV'T could not change/ alter it.... only the consumer/ producer. (meaning the gov't couldn't just increase production of it. people would just have to lower prices or raise depending on what the market is doing.... no depressions, no inflation. it would be equal.)

People knocking on this video completely overlook the fact that this is a relatively underground subject. Shedding some light on it will help people understand what the hell it is. Basically it's a digital currency that you can view to be as unpredictable as the stock market. This video does not promote that you enter this market and purchase them yourself so what is everyone's problem?

The problem with Bitcoin is that people can now hack the bitcoins, which can be easier than stealing money from someone's pocket.
No, you can't "hack the bitcoins", The network and protocol itself is hack-proof. The only reason there's been so-called "hacks", is due to insecure 3rd party hosted exchanges and websites. People are stupid and keep giving their coins/wallets to insecure exchanges and 3rd party institutions who proceed to get their website hacked and thus lose their customers' coins.
Solution? People need to learn to hold their own coins and secure them themselves instead of giving it to some piece of shit like Mt Gox exchange.

Depends how you look at it. $220 for 1 BTC may seem expensive, but the market cap is still only ~$3bil. As a newly emerging p2p tech, as well as a programmable money/transaction system without limitations, the technology could prove very key in the future. Compare the $3b market cap of BTC to that of Amazon gift cards which has a mcap of ~$15b. Currently, BTC as an all-around/general transaction system is valued lower than a single company's gift card cap. Thus, imo it should keep growing over the years, it's just going to take a while. The technology however (whether it be bitcoin or another implementation), will be around for good.

Bought Bitcoin first time in 2015 when it was trading for 200$ . bought very little and didn't research it enough. started buying again almost daily from mid end 2018 and finished going all in in September 2020. my last buying price was 12k. today Feb 14, 2021 price reached 49650$ i think it will be worth between a bare minimum of 100k and 320k or more by the end of 2021
I wouldn't mind investing in one Bitcoin. Who knows...maybe at some point it'll be worth an ungodly amount of money for a couple mins.

The big difference is the US Government backs the dollar, while a Bitcoin is allowed to swing wildly. One minute it can be worth 10$, the next 1000$ and the next 10 cents. There are no controls put into place to control the swings, and to stabilize the price. Even Gold has controls on it.

I don't think this will end good. At the beginning you can make money out of this (it raised from 12 dollars to 900 dollars in three months). But imagine when the opposite happens.

Also, if you are sloppy with computer security, you could get hacked and lose everything that way. with this kind of volatility and uncertainty, it is imperative to only buy an amount you are completely ok with losing 100%. it is very risky. For me personally, I am invested for philosophical reasons (I want to support a system that removes the need for banks) - but I do keep in mind that bitcoin is an experiment. it is an absolutely fascinating one, but still an experiment.

i dont think you understand the concept behind it... think of bitcoins as an investment... the more people who invest the more scarce it is and at the same time individuals decide just how much a bitcoin is worth which leads to the fluctuation in price. if everyone got behind this system it would lead to a more established and equal economy where the GOV'T could not change/ alter it.... only the consumer/ producer. (meaning the gov't couldn't just increase production of it. people would just have to lower prices or raise depending on what the market is doing.... no depressions, no inflation. it would be equal.)
