  • I evaluate and cut a brilliantly colored, but flawed opal from Lambina, South Australia. Lots of "footage" (too much?) for cutters. The final polished stone is 16 x 12 x 6 mm and weighs 8 carats.
The computer has chosen a winner:
    CLAYSOUTDOORADVENTURES Carter
I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. I AM SORRY THAT I COULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN ALL OF YOU. I'M VERY MUCH IMPRESSED BY ALL OF THE INTEREST IN THIS OPAL I HAVE MANY OTHER OPALS THAT I WILL GIVE AWAY IN FUTURE VIDEOS. I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL BE FLAWED...
Winner can contact me at pulitzeropal@gmail.com.

My name is Billie and I’m in Seward Alaska I’ve just recently discovered my love for rocks in general but when I discovered my passion for opal I’ve not been able to really look at anything else! I’ve got a tiny little work bench and very few conventional tools ( no wheels) but I love working with these and want to learn as much as possible and be able to create beautiful gem stones and pieces of ‘work’ for the community and loved ones. My fiancée is an artist of extreme talent and works with alknost every medium there is but specializes in Wood, antler bone and leather as well as metal smithing m, most recently he’s been making knives and swords! One hunting knife is made from the jawbone of a black bear he’d killed himself many years ago. Our home is like one giant craft fair but I’ve settled around opal with tremendous interest and enthusiasm! I love your videos, I have my iPhone running your videos all the time while I work! Thank you for the knowledge and I hope stand a chance to win this opal!

glad you mentioned the Aussies and Etheopian opals lol the reason they dont like it is because it better looking across the board then aussie opal and available in tons lol the price of welo has gone up quite a bit in the past few years but still lower then aussie opals ,in my opinion only LR black opal is beter then welo opal, the paterns and colors and brightness of wello crystals is stunning in the high grade material

    Good afternoon Colonel.
On this particular stone I am glad you decided to take it to full polish, it actually helped it look much much better. Even with the flaws, the color play and Polish together really helped it.
I’m positive whoever ended up with that gem was quite happy with it. Personally, I’d have set it in a gold setting, I think the overall color of the stone would have been enhanced by the gold color of the setting. Of course, that’s just my opinion, which doesn’t count for much haha.
I really appreciate your content and the patience you quite obviously have with noobs like me. Thank you much.

First, I gotta tell you, I just love the s#!t outta you. 🤗❤ You kill me... 😄 "Secondly, Can Lambina Opal be hydrophane?" I have a stone that I am increasingly CONVINCED is a significant opal specimen. (Determined after extensive study at Google University. 😉) Disappointingly, noone I have taken it to, sent photographs to, or spoken with, have been able to definitively i.D it for me. So!😲 When you placed your little light behind your rough cabachon and it looked VERY SIMILAR to my stone, I had to ask. My stone illuminates with an almost identical honey yellow color near one end, but with a more greenish hue as I slide the light toward the bottom. The outter matrix looks very similar as well but my stone is more completely covered (and because i'm terriified I will do irreparable damage to it by messing with it. 😬) I cannot see inside very well. There is a tiny little "window" where I can glimpse a few flecks of interior color play... I do recall you mentioning in one of your previous (Hilarious!😛) videos that it is Ethiopian opals which normally exhibit this characteristic, (the key word being "normally,") leading me to believe there may be exceptions? After long periods of amusing myself sticking, and unsticking, the tip of my tongue to my stone while researching identification online, inevitably finding your videos, watching many of them, and consequently becoming hopelessly endeared to you.😊 One thing is FO SHO! MY stone is "hydrophane." My sincerest thanks for the education, giggles, and hopefully upcoming clarification?. Love and Respect, Kelli

Please correct me if I'm under a misunderstanding.
But does not the rest of the jem world, excluding opals, use some sort of plasticizer or resin
    To bind cracked gems
together? As well as color enhancement?
And could you put this disabled gentleman on any of your jem giveaway lists please.
I've always wanted a gentleman's pinky ring in opal. I had one previously. Made for my grandmother's 22 karat gold and white fire opal. Unfortunately, my ex-wife's eldest daughter stole it and then lost it swimming.
I was disabled shortly thereafter. And I am currently living on a hand-to-mouth budget. I would cherish and opal pinky ring as my most prized possession.

Having watched your video's for several years now I've become an opal cutting expert.
Well an expert as far as the comment section. :)
( amazing how many experts and professionals you find in comment sections)
I would have liked to have seen you attack that backside. I know the cracks and crevices went a little deep and you would have had a smaller stone, but that color flash on that side would have made up for the loss in karat weight. That or you would have just end up grinding it to powder.
Your video's have given me the confidence to give it a go. I pulled the trigger and bought some opal. I've been binge watching your video's for the last week in the hope's I'll pick up some tips and tricks.
Ill be back either thanking or cursing you. J/k.
