The series The Offer is absolutely fascinating, the show depicts how difficult it was making The Godfather. It’s a miracle it was completed. The miracle was Al Ruddy and Francis Ford Coppola
I've seen The Godfather more times than I can count. I'm on episode 3 of The Offer and already know that I'll be watching The Godfather, again, after I've seen the last episode.
The Offer is indeed a spectacular series. Even if you haven't seen The Godfather, it's an amazing peak behind the curtain of the filmmaking process in the late 60's, early 70's. Watch it immediately.
Watching "The Offer" just made me fall in love with "The Godfather" movies all over again! Such an excellent adaptation and beautiful filmmaking at it's ultimate best! Unbelievable torment the filmmakers went through just to get it done!
Thank you, Al Ruddy, for sticking to your guns and producing an absolute masterpiece. I'm a richer human being because of you. I'm going to revisit your other movies as well. You deserve a standing ovation!
I hated that The Offer had to end. Amazing in every way! I think I've seen each Godfather at least 20 times and probably will watch them another 20! Same with The Offer, will watch over and over!
Kind of the opposite for me. I had never seen the Godfather. But I was interested in some of the cast in this series so I watched it. Overall loved the series, watch the Godfather after it. The series was better. Godfather was good but kind of overrated in my opinion.
The Offer was great. I highly recommend it. Like most people I love and have watched The Godfather a ton of times. The Offer gives a nice version of the events. The Al Ruddy character is well acted by Miles Teller. He is terrific.
One of the greatest films of all time. Just saw a great interview with Robert Evans. It's amazing to see what transpired to get this masterpiece made. Fortunately for the world, everything fell into place the right way.
Who watched The Offer and went back re-watched all three The Father? Me. What great masterpieces!!! No films have ever surpassed The Godfather (all three). Truly American classics. Didn't know they went thru so much trouble to make the first The Godfather until saw The Offer. Only truly and passionate artists can make this happen. A bunch of huge Thank you!!!
It's not better than the Godfather but I absolutely loved the Offer and it was a love letter to the film. It was like Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire meets Entourage.
Just finished watching "The Offer"🔥Absolutely brilliant. The story, the acting right down to the casting was all incredible especially Matthew Goode as Bob Evans and Juno Temple as Betty .1st class .Just cant believe all the hassle that came with making the picture. Its mad to think how many times this film was nearly a no no and the fact they nearly had to cut out Michaels time in Scilly 🙈
FANTASTIC interview. Just when I thought I knew everything about this film, this really put us in the producer's chair. THANK YOU! From beginning to the very end, fantastic interview.
I just got done watching THE OFFER....it was amazing...didn't realize all the problems there were with making the movie...sounds like AL Ruddy was very good at his job....I saw the movie back in 1972....I was blown away...has read the book before....
Just finished the offer it was so good so I’m watching everything that has something to do with The Godfather thank you ruddy for fighting to make this picture!
The Offer was awesome and I love how they went the Saving Mr. Banks route and made the fictional story of Godfather merge with the real life story. Probably 40% of the Offer is exaggerated but it was still awesome.
I had no idea what a producer did. My late father went to high-school, as did my uncle, with him. Kind of a connection to dad, which is nice. Clearly Ruddy is smart and understands hard work
This is a great behind the scenes interview. I heard perspectives from the actors and the director. This really filled in the entire story for me. Thanks
I am here after watching The Offer and of course I had to watch the Godfather for the 100 times again. I even appreciate the movie so much more after all the bs these guys went through.👏👏👏👏
What a wonderful conversation. Deep thanks to all involved especially these two gentlemen who so articulately describe how they helped make something magical.
Al Martino was the only sub-par actor in the entire film. Extraordinary film in every way. Beautiful hearing two of the principals - legends, both - telling how a potboiler was turned into great art.

Ruddy also created Hogan's Heroes and was the man behind Walker Texas Ranger besides the Cannonball Run movies etc.... a real no nonsense man with great ideas and cajones of steel!
This is so incredible. I'm watching The Offer, loving it. That clip with Brando and Pacino (Senator Corleone) destroyed me. Great interview. So this guy was there, with Ruddy, and now he's a pro broadcaster/interviewer? Damn that movie was blessed
Great show and Peter Bart (the interviewer here) is also in the show. He’s the guy with the glasses and curly hair that’s trying to get Colin Hanks’ character out of the way whenever Bob Evans was out and on a Coke binge. He’s played by Josh Zuckerman
@@dotsongray Yep! Hanks' character called him Peter this episode, and I was Aha! I knew who Bart was from his journalism/interviewer work, no idea he was a production guy @ Paramount.
