This little squirrel followed me out of the woods and has hung out with me every day since then! She is quite young, roughly 12 weeks old, which is right around the age where she should be leaving the nest. Even at this age, I wonder if the reason she was so eager for human interaction was because something happened to her mom and siblings. It's also possible that she's simply a super chill squirrel. I live in a pretty remote location, so she isn't a released pet or a park squirrel. I should point out that she's not captive. She chooses to stick around, and I hope she continues to do so. The crazy thing is that she was easier to befriend than some cats I've had over the years, and I know how to befriend a kitty!!
I had fostered an injured squirrel, unfortunately it didn't survive it's injuries. But in doing tons of research, they are incredibly easy to domesticate if interacted with at an early age. So easy in fact that during the instructions I found, you are to only make contact with them while feeding them, and you're supposed to ween them as soon as possible to avoid attachment. Even in doing this though, it often doesn't work, they become attached, and end up doing exactly what your squirrel ends up doing.

I raised a baby squirrel named Binx, he passed away after 6 months due to an accident. Love these little guys and they will have a forever bond on your soul!
Animals aren’t humans, we shouldn’t have their trust, it is literally harmful for animals to have such frequent interactions with humans. The can start believing they are a human which can make them unreleasable. Ironically that’s probably what happened here except this squirrel is already bonded with humans but they released it into the wild to die anyways because they were sick of it or something.
Love it. I've got a pigeon at work. I can't pet it, but it trusts me enough to lay down at my feet when I'm at brake & lunch. Then I give it some treats.
Some birds just don't like being touched. I've had 2 birds for a year, and since they've bonded with each other they won't let me pet them (they still groom and play though)
I rehabilitated a squirrel that got hit by a car one time. I don’t know how it survived but it did. It was barely alive when I got it. Unfortunately it never regained his vision. These little guys are so adorable. I gave my blind squirrel to someone who could give it the attention he deserved. She brought them around to classrooms to teach children. I guess teach them basically be nice to squirrels LOL. I remember the poor thing would get so nervous unless you just rested your hand on his back. Since he couldn’t see he never knew where you were but if you put your hand on his back he was completely OK

In Australia we don't have squirrels but we do have possums, approx 4-6 times larger, where I live maybe more as I personally haven't been very close to one, my friend has a possum and a cockatoo that regularly visit/have partially moved in to her apartment. The Cockatoo comes out to visit up to 20 times a day if he didn't sleep in a repurposed bird cage ( one entire side is open but covered by a blanket with a small section cut in to strips so he can just walk through) we made in to a home for him. If he did stay the night then he'll stay there for the whole day and only leave for 20 -30 mins once or twice. The possum is a bit more independent, and although he is a big fan of the hiddy hole we made for him and all the food he could ever want (we only feed them either appropriate pet food or their regular diet). He is happier to be out and about and then once in a while come back for a visit. Some people are just more accepted by nature than others, I honestly can't help but to feel jealous of being able to just stumble upon something like that and the animal sticks around/reacts positively. But it does make me happy that there are people like you and my friend who, not only care for animals very dearly but are able to quickly form trust or a feeling of security or what have you and also have the means to provide for them. I really appreciate everything that you do. I am actually getting back in to learning about and having fun with electronics, and I'm going to be looking in to some formal training and education. I've always been one of those too. I think body language plays the biggest role. I make furry/feathery friends pretty much wherever I go. Foxes, racoons, rabbits, feral cats, finches, blackbirds, ravens, pigeons, probably more I'm forgetting. I've also had brief encounters with bears, cougars, and wolves which could've gone badly, but they just left me alone and let me cautiously leave. When I was younger I used to think there was some kind of spiritual aspect to it, especially because my family was Catholic. I've saved and rehabbed injured animals ever since I was a kid, so I guess I thought they could know that on some level. I think it's really just coincidence these days, but an interesting one.
I don’t like going to zoos or animal sanctuaries because big cats and especially wolves seem to find my presence unpleasant. Normal dogs also tend to growl or bark at me and always run away unless their owner’s acclimatize them to me. I’ve even had a police dog sent after me, (a fire alarm in my friend’s small apartment building was going off and the police assumed it was a burglary alarm and when I ignored them they sent a dog after me. I didn’t hear them because the bel was right by the front door, but when I saw the 60ish pound German Shepard coming at me I picked it up so it wouldn’t hurt anyone because it was growling and barking like crazy.)

Animals can sense good energy... Im glad that you have such a fulfilling life. Keep it up your a good example for the youth.
I hope you know that's not true
@@snowfox8025 lmao, why isn't it true ?
@@Lssjg702 there is no force field around people that only animals can see. If you give them food and take care of them they will see you as a ally.
Thats true god blesse you friend
@@snowfox8025 yes it is true.... people can too. . I'm not talking about conditioning through food. I'm talking about first time encounters. They can also read your body language. There is communication without words and people do it to. Just because your not intelligent enough to know and realize this; don't say it is impossible..... what makes you think you know what is possible or not? Dumb people always have their delusion of intelligence.
"Follow us in the next episode as I breed more squirrels and mount them with military grade lasers."
but in all seriousness though seeing stuff like this from your channel is so nice and refreshing, I also enjoyed the videos about mushrooms
I've never seen a squirrel that friendly. Adorable
She's a human from year 1700
No one gonna talk about how he looks exactly like a younger version of Willem Dafoe, he could be Willem Dafriend rn for as long as I’m concerned 💀

Awwh ..take care of the little baby
I love that u made her a little box....keep feeding her ..she's a sweetheart 😘
She’s just the sweetest little girl ever.
The “pretty cute, riiighht?” At the end was kinda spooky😂
Did you see his face at the beginning?
I know, made me expect a, "Now let's put it in this solution I made."
@@BooBuKittyPhuklet’s feed it to the Demon Circuit. 💀
no that was cute
The “propeller tail” is a “get away from me” warning in squirrel language, and was most likely directed at a bird or squirrel that landed on “her” tree. She is so cute, I wish I could kiss the top of her little head. ❤❤❤❤
That’s so cute!!!!!
What are you doing here, Quandale Dingle?
@@Agent-ic1pe Mr. Quandaledingle here, I’m actually a big fan of his RUclips channel and I typically would watch one of his videos as soon as it comes out. Thank you for the question!
@@geckoguy4423 that's great, have a nice day!
@@Agent-ic1pe Quandaledingle here, you too!!!
wonder if Kevin from TheBackyardScientest is jealous, he mentioned trying to feed one for a video unsuccessfully in the latest Safety Third podcast
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Very cute.
But when Styropyro says that this is the craziest thing to ever happen to him, I cannot help but think of the quote, "You sit upon a throne of lies!"
Her tail is moving like a propeller 😂, just goin' to fly 🕊️😂

We got a wild Tails out here
When you make a joke and make people laugh, would you thank them for laughing?
Like Tails from Sonic The Hedgehog
All wild Squirrels know your voice and trust you. Amazing!!
That's beautiful 💕 she's so happy 😊
You have a good soul ! Animals know that !
There's no squirrels where I live, but there are a lot of foxes and they don't like humans but I became friends with one and used to leave food it every night
I thought squirrels lived everywhere
@@SicilianAmericanDreams no, unfortunately not
Careful around foxes, they are prone to contract rabies.
@@truthbetold7718 I fuck a fox up if I have to
"used" WHAT HAPPENED STORY PLS OP
That is legitimately the most adorable thing I've seen in a long time
So cute. I envy people that has this type of interactions
that have and not has
Just start by leaving food for them. I leave roasted/unsalted peanuts (in the shell) for them and if I see them across the street, I will make a clicking noise and they will run over to me.
That squirrel looks pretty young. I've heard before that when a squirrel loses its mother, it will attach itself to a different species. Humans and dogs are both pretty common. Cool new friend!
It feels like each day I watch Styro shorts, the more I feel he decends into madness. He is one tesla coil away from losing it all
You couldn’t be farther from the truth, he is extremely content he lives ten times better than us and has a more fulfilled life than us on any day of the week
@@ramy19322 yeah i know, but there's just this look in his eyes I can't quite shake. Fr tho I know he's living a good life and I was just making a silly comment

"He is on Tesla coil away from losing it all" LMFAO
Oof how about a handheld Tesla coil lmao

AWWWWWE, HOW PRECIOUS! You can tell that she's a joyful little girl by her happy dance while she's on the side of the tree!🐿️❤️💋

know you got a pet squirrel
Rip . Peanut❤
Thanks for opening your home to her.
Be careful they don’t come and take her away like they did with peanut
Did you hear what happened to peanut the squirrel? Hid your squirrel.
I said the same thing.
That tornado 🌪️ tail is wicked cute😂
Smart baby she knows a good thing when she saw you guy’s… great food and love….God bless you…😊❤❤❤
She is adorable. Thank you for being so kind to her. 🙂👍♥️
Awwwwwww 🥰
Wait what
that's a dream come true I love squirrels and I wanna own one
That tail wag is AWESOME!
I'm glad that the little animal found good people. Usually gullible animals end badly.
That must be a wonderful feeling ☺️, to have such a special friendship, it takes a looooot of patience and effort, to get the trust 😊
🐿❤️🌳Ein tolles Erlebnis.Sofort mit einem Niedlichen süssen Eichhörnchenkind angefreundet! Wie schön ,neuer Mitbewohner zum verlieben!❤❤❤❤❤
Hey cool man!!
Love the wild wagging of her tail like a dog 😍
Hehe it does look like dog behavior! But it actually means something different when squirrels do it. Squirrels wag their tails to communicate that they sense danger in the area.
You look like Newt Scamander‘s little brother. Doesn’t surprise me after all (remember „Fantastic Squirrels and where to find them“) 😄
I find it wholesome when he says "pretty cute" instead of "pretty cool" for some reason maybe because of the way he held the squirrel while he said it
Absolutely phenomenal
You’re a hero in my eyes. Protect nature at all cost, especially those squirrels. I’m sure Mother Nature makes their lives an adventure every day. So seeing one able to chill & not have their heads on a swivel is cool
"My cousin Sandy Cheeks said I should be more open to making new friends, no regrets"
Imagine the government trying to take Ophelia from Styropyro…
He can use lasers to defend himself
That’s so cute. What a smart little squirrel.
