So many cool ideas and solutions in this van. That bed is ginormous!! Even at 6'4" you look small in it and the shower situation is genius. There are a couple of others with a similar shower- not many though! And most have a removable tub style base. But I think built into the floor is the way to go. Ideally the whole van floor would be one big wet area with a drain!

loved your shower idea! best idea I have seen on van life since I have been watching van life videos everyday for two years. that was so creative and great use of space. most people have been making a small closet for their shower. love that you can have more floor space and just have shower when ya need it and still be private and practical.
I’ve come to value sliding drawers more so than lift up cabinets. The cabinets in my Winnebago were always coming open and spilling stuff on the floor. You are more organized than I was but you have so much more packed since you live there. Under bed storage is very well thought out. Love those fabric bins over drawers. When you need something different you won’t be redesigning the van. Super.
Thanks yeah upper cabinets work great as lift up, and drawers definitely best under counters. And very happy with open under the bed. Cupboards aren’t great down low either when the isle is so narrow. The trick with the upper cabinets is they slope backwards so even if I park on a slope things are unlikely to fall out!
I’ve watched several Van builds and this is the best one. One day when I get to the mainland I might consider a van converted to similar to this.. this is my Dream, when I get to 70 years old and stay in our son’s driveway. Dreaming... great job...👏👏👏
Thanks! It helps a lot to break it up into sections - I see a lot of vans with a single middle piece, but then it's almost impossible to slide it in or lift it up as you are stuck at one end of it.
@@EatSleepVan yes it makes sense. More to the point most van bed to couch has every other slat telescopes out to the edge when the bed is in use and fits in between the stationary ones when it is a couch see eamon abnd bec if im not explaining well and yes to convert it one of them has to shimmy in between the bed and the back door of the van...in such a configuration if want something to support the couch cushions you have to add another piece. Using the bed slats is really smart. Also i do love that half step to convert a single seat for yourself. Double smart. I just love how clean and spacious it is but still has everything! Most vans that roomy dont have bathroom facilities or oven. Again very well done.
@@lethiapage4767 I quite like the slide out slats idea, and considered it, but decided to use the slats as backrest too. If they slid away they wouldn't work for that. Still keen to try it one day though! I also see a lot of slide out slats being a full length of the bed. BUT to pull it out you have to pull from the centre otherwise it jams. So again, splitting it into 2 or 3 pieces would make that a lot easier!

Holy fecking feck. This is absolutely bonkers! I am 100% stealing all of your ideas the day I have the money for my own van! This has to be one of the most functional set ups I've come across! The shower blew my fecking mind! The battery and solar set up looks like it would've cost more than the van though.. but still my dude! Well fecking done. Id love to see how much you've spent on all of this though!
Eat Sleep Van And you’d only want $25k USD to build one out? Great deal... AND especially since so many want the exact set up [girls with hanging space] you probably could rent a commercial space, hire some 3-4 guys, plop 4 vans in at same time and “assembly line” the process. Have 4 done in 2 months. And so on. Book it out for 1 year... then retire or make the commitment to go all in. Start with getting the vans for folks, too. Buying 4 at a time. Use “specialty funding” rather than the usual banking way. Deposits cover everything but Solar. Then you can easily sell to the next guy on the list if the person backs out/moves/passes away, etc. You might even need to have an assistant handle the paperwork for “self-containment”. Then... get thee to the USA and repeat for 2-3 years. Train others! It’d be a lot of work... but I’d see your RUclips Channel growing, too!!!
Very well thought out, easily accessible storage down below, shower, perfect! Wow! Very impressed and also got a ton of excellent build ideas! Thanks so much, enjoyed your video!
The first time I saw the shower / WC installed in the entrance was in a Unicat; I thought it was a brilliant idea. Strangely never in vans conversions, until now. Well done!
Excellent van build. The best I’ve seen! The nature’s head is great but I thought the toilet had to be vented. Is there a vent for it in your storage area?
I just love this. The shower-what a fantastic set up!! best one I have seen..love it. The stove and fridge- yes! Can we talk counter top space? Nice! If I could live in one, being in Florida would need extra care with mildew/mold protection when building. I would have just a bit extra power and add a small a/c unit.(have seen here on yt-awesome so it can be done).and would figure out where to add/conceal an area to hang some skirts/dresses away from the stove. I would also have to consider adding a sort concealment frame for the solar panels as some of the city laws will not allow you to park etc..saw in yt also a guy who did that and from the ground looks like sort of a rack/frame one would put things on. That is all I would have to consider...the rest is just great. Of course having family I would work on easy way of putting/displaying some pictures on a cabinet door or two. :) Those are only things "for me". I just really really like this. Thank you.
Hey glad you like it! Actually the panels only look like solar ones from the bottom. So it wouldn’t take much to only look like a roof rack. And yes I wanted to have a wardrobe of some sort but I would have had to sacrifice some bench space or bed for it. Extending one bench could work well, as usually you don’t have 2 tall people sleeping on the bed. AC would be nice, in my case I just turn the van on and use that for the few times I need it.
@@EatSleepVan The van does not overheat if you keep it running with the a/c on for hours? Some where here in yt land I saw some sort of bar like thing that the person had up against the wall of the van and (i think it was hinged) with clothing and it would come out...i am sorry it was a while back & I am doing from memory &I just cannot explain. Hopefully I can find it and share the information, just in case.
I’m 6’3”. That is the same reason why i went with the Transit. How did you accomodate the flow of the shower water? Did you drill through the hull in the floor?
Yes the shower drains into the grey tank which is almost directly underneath. The drain is in the corner closest to the passenger seat. The custom made shower tray has a very little slope on it, however the van is almost never flat anyway, so I have to park carefully to ensure water will drain. Ideally there would be at least 2 drains, or even 4. BUT the transit has the fuel tank under the other side of it so I couldn't do that there. If you put the shower at the back door it might be easier to have multiple drains.
@@EatSleepVan I love your bed and back door set up. Where you have that view and access. Super awesome! How your shower takes up no living space but yet is spacious. Ingenious! Maybe the shower tray can be molded like a funnel and drain right in the middle. This is probably easier said than done. I looove how thought out your van build is. Quality Mate! Thanks for sharing!
@@Lotusutra1 Thanks for watching! The shower tray is sloped to some extent, it's very shallow (35mm) so not much space to slope much. Where you park makes more of a difference! Ideally it would have 4 drain holes, one in each corner. Unfortunately the fuel tank is in the middle of the van floor :)
This is a FANTASTIC setup for a van where space is a huge challenge. The shower solution is perfect! Only thing I don't really like is the composting toilet but the space you save is well worth going that way. Congratulations!
This is an amazing van build! I’ve seen other van builds that don’t have everything you do, or they do but at the cost of space. The smart electronics is a nice touch too!
Check out my insulation video to see what the insulation is like. I've designed it so I do get condensation, BUT it can dry out very easily so it's not a big deal. The insulation is very breathable. Also it's not all metal walls you see in the video, the Transit has 2 layers of metal. The internal layers are thermally separated from the external. It's almost impossible to seal up the Transit which is why I went this route. I think next time I'll use something like bubble wrap or reflectix to seal up accessible *portions* of wall panels to reduce the amount of condensation.
THIS VAN CONVERSION IS INCREDIBLE!!!! I was already amazed with the first part of the build but when he hit the “hey Siri” I was like WOW!! this build is amazing.

What a brilliant design! I especially love what you did with the shower :)
Best van build we've seen by far! Ticks all the boxes, very VERY nice.
Very nice build, I just bought a Transit myself. The only difference I see is that here in the U.S. the sliding door is on the other side.
Thanks! Yeah minor differences from what I’ve seen. We can only get the diesel version in NZ with the bench seats
THE best design! Great job fitting more in without each area being dedicated to 1 task & having to take up so much space! Very open & spacious feeling! 👍🏽👍🏽
You thought of *everything* . Great van. And I love to hear you talk 💚
Well done sir! First van conversion I see with smart home automations how I like it 😉
That was an instant subscribe right there. I’m checking out all your other video to make sure to not miss anything. If you are considering to do more videos about your smart home automations they will be appreciated!! Thanks for the work you are doing and sharing your knowledge and experience.
Cheers 🍻
Awesome, thank you! Yes a video on the home automation is my next planned video. Should be popular and a bit different to what most people do!
@@EatSleepVan YES PLEASE! Awesome build (:
Holy fecking feck.
This is absolutely bonkers!
I am 100% stealing all of your ideas the day I have the money for my own van!
This has to be one of the most functional set ups I've come across!
The shower blew my fecking mind!
The battery and solar set up looks like it would've cost more than the van though.. but still my dude! Well fecking done.
Id love to see how much you've spent on all of this though!
About $7500 usd for the whole power system. Van was 35k usd. Fit out including power was 25k
Eat Sleep Van
And you’d only want $25k USD to build one out?
It’s a grand plan!
The best camper van conversion! Congratulations!
Excellent van build! Complements to you!!!
Fantastic video! Thanks for taking the time! I live in a 16 foot/4.9 meter Casita, and I'm an efficiency addict. Well done!
Thanks! Thus is excellent ... do you have a van build guide that details gore to build the shower, especially?
Instagram has a lot of detail shots including the shower. I plan to release a shower video sometime soon.
Very well thought out, easily accessible storage down below, shower, perfect! Wow! Very impressed and also got a ton of excellent build ideas! Thanks so much, enjoyed your video!
Brilliant shower set up.
Very good tips specially for those in the planning stage. These little details can make all the difference.
Glad it was helpful!
This is one of the best van built I have seen!
One of the best builds I've seen on RUclips. Am 6'2 and love your bed design. Will definitely do something similar for mine.
Wonderful design
Thanks!
The first time I saw the shower / WC installed in the entrance was in a Unicat; I thought it was a brilliant idea. Strangely never in vans conversions, until now. Well done!
Thanks! After using it for years now, I reckon it's a great way to go. Cheers
Excellent van build. The best I’ve seen! The nature’s head is great but I thought the toilet had to be vented. Is there a vent for it in your storage area?
Thanks! Yes I have a hose going out the floor for it, and the little fan it has is powered as well
In my heaviest dr Smith voice "how DARE you criticize the perfect van" 😅😅😅
Eat Sleep Van Awesome! Thank you!!😊
This is the best van layout I've ever seen and the best van tour I've ever seen.
You’re too kind, thanks!
Sweet build, I'm surprised haven't seen your channel before. do you have any information as to how your water tanks were installed?
I outsourced that to a tank company so not much footage however there’s a video on it!
Those are only things "for me".
That is a fantastic build.. two thumbs up 👍🏻 👍🏻
I love this build! The shower is ingenious and the best solution I've seen yet for an indoor shower. It leaves you a lot more room!
Thanks! I love it, using it every day at the moment
You nailed it my friend best build I've ever seen.
The BEST camper van on RUclips! I hope Trent and Allie see this!
What do you think of recycling showers?
Thanks! Slightly gross but really like the idea too! I’ll be interested to see how some of them go medium term eg cleaning filters etc
Realistically I don’t use the toilet for #2s often unless really needed. But it’s so good when you need it!
And that's another good argument to go composting instead of black water tank. Safe travels!
I like the shower idea ! And the window covers where you get those ?
There’s a whole video on how my mum made the window covers in my channel!
This is an amazing van build! I’ve seen other van builds that don’t have everything you do, or they do but at the cost of space. The smart electronics is a nice touch too!
Gorgeous home.. thanks for sharing 🤗
Thanks for show us your home. Can you tell me if you have some problems for condensation with exposed chasis metal?
Thanks glad you like it! And I really use Siri all the time to turn the lights and inverter on/off. Not just a gimmick!
What a clever setup
I watch van builds every time a different one is on and this is the best I’ve seen!!!
Wow! One of the nicest van builds I've seen yet! 👍
First of your videos I've seen - what an extraordinary build! Bravo! 👏👏👏
The best built I've seen yet I love that shower setup.
Wonderful home you have there! The shower setup is clever.
What a great build! Can you do a "cooking in my van" video?
Yes I can! I shot some footage for it not too long ago
Brilliant , love the automation and battery setup.
