I’d like to get into finding beautiful rocks. I live in Yonkers, NY and used to live in Peekskill. Where is it cool to just go start breaking rocks apart without anyone minding? I know there’s a lot of mines offering use of their site per hour or so but can one “pioneer” hunt for crystals in other areas?

Don't trespass, permit required on state land, do your research.
