    This sounds like Vic Tyler. I know that somewhere on YT there is a 'remstered' tape and the speed is much slower. More like a ballad's lament. Duane Elms wrote this song, and he sings it 'very' fast. This is my favorite Filk song.. Well, the Elven Knight, too. LOL

    • @rkt739
      @rkt739  4 года назад +5

      Well, this version came from a tape that swears Larry Warner is the singer. Vic Tyler's recording of the song is on RUclips too, though, and you can compare them. It's the one from the tape Carmen Miranda's Ghost.

      Verse:
      Jayme Dawson was the Captain of the Christian and her crew,
      And he flew and fought the Christian in the War of '82.
      Now the Christian was the tightest ship 'tween here and Charlemagne,
      And the crew of Jayme Dawson was the same.
      And so on... note that it doesn't go verse chorus verse chorus, or even any particular pattern, the chorus is played between "acts" in the story, as it were.
      Chorus:
      There are stories of the Dutchman, the Celeste and Barnham's Pride,
      There are stories of the Horseman and the Lady at his side,
      But the tale that chills my spirit, more because I know it's true,
      Is the tale of Jayme Dawson and his crew, Yes, the tale of Dawson's Christan and her crew.

      @@rkt739 After reviewing my own sources, I find that you are correct, I've been missing a whole chord change in there. This is the nature of folk music though; almost no-one actually plays it the same as anyone else.
