It's SO hard to find gospel beginner stuff that's well explained. You dont know how much this helped me understand what being played. So many instructors play and say "just do this". I'm the kind of learner that needs to know why. Where do these chords fit into the key and progression. Because I want to know how to play in any key from the beginning.

    Great video.
For the last tonic chord, I sometimes do the third minor chord when the rest of the band plays the tonic chord especially the basist, which turns the ending tonic chord into a major 9 chord.
    So it's basically a rootless major9 voicing.
If your keyboardist has good enough musical hearing, he/she can do really pretty runs and licks on top of it which makes the ending way more stylish than everyone just playing the tonic chord.
Of course, I stick to the D&G&B&E strings when I do it, cuz I want to avoid making that third minor chord fight with the actual chord that's meant to be played. Especially the lowend.
    Great lesson. Thank you.
Unfortunately I did not find any new information but it's always good to brush up on the earlier stuff.

Worth mentioning his movement from the C to Am is a minor 2-5 resolving to Am. The B half dim (2 of Am) to E aug, or E alt 7 (5 of A)

It is funny. I never play and have never played worship stuff. The thing that is funny about it is that I got my interest in being a musician by singing in a choir as a child. I just completely left that world and never came back. These concepts you are illustrating are great. I recognize that this video is 4 years old and you have a million subs so you aren nto likely to see this but regardless thanks.

You bring up a good point about listening to what gospel Pianists are playing and copying their lines onto guitar makes all the sense in the world I was thinking the same thing.
