This episode was done brilliantly, especially the last scene was so beautiful. They rock these references and this time was no exception. After they placed their first stake on what would be their forever home, how many things had happened, how much they had grown, how much they gained and lost, how many good memories... everything came to mind in that scene and I cried a lot with Claire... and Adso😭😭😭😭 Every scene with Jamie and Claire was just perfect (as always) and they gave me one of the best episodes ever. Every scene was majestic. I could talk all day about how much I love this show with each passing day. This is a masterpiece ❤️😭
I love how straight forward you are Evie. And yes, so sad about Adso having to be left behind.. We cat lovers know that bond, and I'm with you on if I had to leave my furbabies..... just kill me now. Some trivia for you, the actor who plays the adult William is named Charles Vandervaart, and he's a fellow Canuck right out of Toronto. So we can claim a Fraser. Yay us.
Lizzie was right to say there are a lot of goodbyes, and significant losses in a short time. I gradually cried throughout the episode until the end. I was literally crying as I watched Jamie and Claire watch their house burn down, when they first met they were constantly on the run. Then they were separated, and this is the place that would allow them to build a family and a life together, and now it's gone. Their faces say it all.Claire and Jamie seeing their house in flames, the house they built from scratch, their happiest place on earth, turning to ashes and burning wood. We saw all the stages of building the house and seeing it burning hurt me a lot. Jamie looking at the house he built for his family with his own hands was a shock and accepting that it was no longer salvageable must have broken his heart. The moment Jamie sees there's nothing to be done and turns to find Claire in the crowd - the look they share haunts me. One thing about this scene that stood out to me was that Claire is the one who joked about the newspapers never getting anything right. We're so used to seeing Jamie lighten situations through humor, but it's almost like it hits him harder and she's comforting him. They see the destruction of their house looking for something that could have been saved in the fire. Claire finds her medical diary in the middle of her completely destroyed surgery/clinic room. I can't imagine the relief Jamie must have felt to see that his kilt had survived. Seeing Jamie and Claire sitting together on the front steps of their house, or what's left of it, is heartbreaking. But knowing that they didn't lose their home, because they have each other, is very comforting. Claire trying to comfort Jamie who is devastated and saying that they must preserve and continue despite everything as they always do, seeing him find the strength to continue in each other is so delicate. I LOVED this scene with Ian and Jamie talking about William and Ian letting on that he is aware of the truth of things. Giving Jamie back the little portrait and then giving him someone else to discuss such a sensitive subject with, Ian is truly the best. He recognized William by Fraser's personality characteristics. He may not yet know but he is recognized as Fraser by the family. Claire's face after she discovers that Adso is nowhere to be found is heartbreaking. She lost so much and now her beloved cat is gone too? The fact that Adso was also a gift from Jamie hurts even more. In fact, I think this scene makes the goodbye later even MORE painful. Ian's face after he realizes what he did broke me. It's clear how this killed him a little bit inside and how it will leave an impression on him. He killed a person for whom he greatly admired, respected and cared, which is the worst. I love seeing Claire comforting Ian here, telling him he did what he did to protect Jamie and holding his hand as she tells him to keep breathing. I also love the narration that followed: I had to take my own advice...put on a brave face, be strong, and keep breathing. Claire singing the Ave Maria at Mrs Bug's procession hit hard. Mr Bug promised to return to take revenge on Ian. Now we have to wait for when he comes back but how he will survive, so it will be a mystery and surprise. Jacobite gold continues to cause deaths wherever it goes. Claire and Jamie keeping in touch with Brianna through letters was so clever and moving. Bree I missed her parents so much. We had a time jump of a few years in the future where Roger, Bree and their children are. They are going to visit Lallybroch while in the past Claire, Jamie and Ian are going to travel there the parallels through time between this family are strong. The glaring sign that they have to buy Lallybroch their faces light up. Jamie praying to God asking him to be enough for Claire 😭 Jamie's dreams about the future with moments as specific as seeing Bree and her grandchildren being welcomed by Fional. So many things in this scene broke me, but especially Jamie saying he saw Jemmy with the phone wanting to talk to Grandpa and then Claire wishing they could call their family. Claire giving Jamie the biggest heart eyes after he says that since she keeps taking him in, she must be his home. Lizzie says goodbye to Claire saying that if it's a girl he will give her Claire's name to lessen how much she will miss her. So cute. This scene is also funny because of the look on Jamie's face after saying that Lizzie's son is strong like his parents hahaha he says smiling and then he realizes what he said is wonderful 😂 Jamie and Claire practically renewed their vows by cutting their fingers, mixing blood and repeating the "blood of my blood" vow. When they are leaving Fraser's ridge Claire meets her cat Adso. It's a bittersweet moment of relief that the cat is alive and sad that she has to say goodbye once again to the one she loves. Wow, it's been so difficult for Claire, she was strong throughout the episode but at this moment when she broke down. She seeing the marking that she and Jamie made together delimiting the limits of Fraser's ridge. We cannot forget the importance that this place has for Claire and Jamie, we have to remember that they met and were constantly on the run, Lallybroch was their first home but for a short period of time after they had to separate and finally they found this place to call their own. That allowed them to build a home, family and a life together. The promise that they returned to their place is very important to Claire who is so lost. She ends up saying that Jamie will always be enough. They continue to make us cry because they cry hard during this entire scene. We will return to Scotland, to the roots of the story and the characters, it will be good to miss seeing them there in the first seasons. It's only getting more complicated, he promises to return even though he knows that this time it will happen because of the war. Because countless times, life and the people in Jamie and Claire's path force them to go places they never imagined going.
Such a great episode! That beautiful house burned to the ground. Wat a shame! Looking forward to seeing Jamie, Claire and Ian back in Scotland. So happy that Brianna and Roger plan to buy and restore Lallybroch. What a great place for their kids to grow up!
Ich fand die 7. Staffel sehr emotional. 👌👌👍💯💖💘
They HAVE to go back to Scotland. Jamie's sister won't send letters to him ever since Young Ian went off to the Indians. She writes to Claire and tells her to tell Jamie things but she's not speaking to Jamie until she sees Ian again. Claire thinks it a little funny, yet a bit mean. It pains Jamie a lot. As to loosing the house, Jamie doesn't care where they lay their heads so long as Claire is there. SHE is his home. It was Claire who wanted a place of their own and Jamie put in a LOT of hard labor making it for her. It's the loss of all that hard work that he mourns. He's lived his whole life with little more than a few pennies to rub together despite being a rich man in land. To Claire the house was something Jamie gave to her like the medicine box, and Adso. (And once, the only time in his life, he gave her a poesy of flowers and it made her cry. Unfortunately, it contained a sprig of poison ivy. Apparently he's immune but Claire had to hide that she was scrubbing her hands so he wouldn't know he'd flubbed it.)

Jamie can't time travel but he has dreams. He sees the grandchildren. Remember back in S4 when Jamie dreamed of Brianna's birthmark behind her ear?

They literally burned the entire set down with the cast acting around it ( & many firemen nearby).
You should definitely check out The last kingdom 🥰 big love
