We have chatted about how it feels wrong to post content right now and you explained why so well. This whole situation reminds me of “Another Day in Paradise” by Phil Collins. The song talks about how being safe and having a roof over your head is a privilege many don’t have. I feel like a lot of us forget that and can easily escape from horrifying news we come across, without realizing that we are also feeding the beast. Governments and corporations can be so heartless and destructive in many ways but rarely see any consequences, all while getting our money. I’ve been buying more from small businesses lately because of that. I like the idea of Yule bringing hope and also have to learn more about it, but what really matters is sending a positive message to the world during any of these holidays. 🙌

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I'm sorry it took me a while to get back. I appreciate the reference, I don't know that song but I'll look it up. I am 100% with you on the small business backing, I want my money going directly to the people who make the product. thank you for being such a wonderful friend

I have had people suffer with cancer in my life and there are people suffering from cancer every single day and dying from it, families being ripped apart. I’ve come to the conclusion that i must celebrate and mourn simultaneously. If I were to stop when horrible things happen, I would cease to exist. The people in my life who suffer the most, have taught me the most the necessity to celebrate. To celebrate and mourn simultaneously is the only way to live an entire life. There has been immense suffering on a daily basis every day of our lives even when there is no war to debate about.

Lighting a candle is about hope. Lighting a candle is about creating light but in any time of darkness it is about the hope of better times. The tiniest spark of light overcomes the darkness.
In winter we come to the dark season. Life in the natural world seems to come to an end. In times of darkness, natural or human made, we can choose to see the light. In particular, we must choose to live in the light when others choose to live in darkness.
In the peace of winter we must not let the darkness consume us but rather we must light the spark of hope for ourselves and show others it is possible to overcome the darkness. Let’s be the light!

Hey I honor you for your honesty and authenticity and care - for the world 🥰 I think your Yule idea sounds amazing, and you should not feel pressured to be or do something you’re not feeling right now. Take a beat, take a moment. And I’ll be sticking around, for anything, but hopefully candles in the future 😉

Hello beautiful soul! Was first encounter on your channel and will add thoughts on the topic. Send out thoughts of love and healing to the world and be in a positive place as you do so and it will travel far. Dropping your own energy in solidarity is not helpful to anyone. They say "help your self first, so you can help others". While we can care deeply about a situation, feeling sad or mad only adds to the collective consciousness which we all feel one way or another. Instead hold space in our hearts with love for ALL and raise our energy with feelings of gratitude. It is not selfish to feel happy during hard times, it is the opposite. We can help by sending love to the collective consciousness by raising our own vibration. -blessed are we-

Hi Julian, It's so nice to see you again. To think of not having a video from the Haunted Haven at Christmas time is unthinkable in my book. I know there is sadness everywhere in this imperfect world, but we are lucky to live in a much better place than many. Of course, I want to see a Christmas video from you this year, it will give me something to value during the end of the holiday season. I hope to watch live, but if not, I am the replay king, and I am sure to watch. Besides, these utube videos are the only communication I have. So, consider doing it, and this year will be my first time without my family, and while I may have more fun, I will miss them a ton. You take care.

Oh goodness! Well it is very good to hear that I keep you company, and thank you so much for the supportive kind words. I am cooking up a Yule Log video that I think aligns nicely with how I feel and we will for sure be having some sort of Yule gathering Live. Take care of yourself as well

  • @olddognewtrails
    @olddognewtrails 8 месяцев назад +2

To say I stumbled onto this video would be incorrect. There are no coincidences. Your reflections resonate deeply. The war in the Middle East is certainly very disturbing, as is all the political divisiveness and general disharmony so pervasive in our world at this time. While we must realize and embrace the fact that what we are seeing is the breaking down of obsolete system in order to make way for the new higher vibrational systems, we cannot allow ourselves to dragged down with those old systems, we must preserve and continue to move towards the light of a new paradigm.
Bringing more light and positivity into the world through ritual is a common theme across many faiths at this time of year, and is desperately needed. Sadly, our traditions in the US have eroded into crass commercialism, and there’s so much general discord felt by so many, so it’s understandable that you feel it’s inappropriate to “celebrate”. However, I think it’s more important than ever that we all take this time and season to look within for that light and strength, and find a way to bring the light back into our world.
Your perspective on this has pointed you toward considering a celebration in the tradition of Yule, and IMHO that is simply the perfect choice. Yule is based in the actual planetary cycles of our world’s seasons, and as such embraces the real natural world that we have perhaps been complacent about honoring in our modern age.
A long winded way of saying “Celebrate Yule this year”, I know. I’ll be tuning in, whatever you decide to do.

Hello! Thank you so much for this thoughtful response- I can see this has been turning over within you for a while. I am all for bringing more rituals into our lives and I think that's the direction that I want to start taking this channel in. All of your reflections are hitting home for me and I hope that we can all start to find each other and band together in embracing simpler celebrations. Thank you again for this comment and I look forward to hearing from you again

With the seasonal traditions Yule is about the returning of light aka the sun into the world, the seasonal cycle which is the basis for Christianity. Christmas is a christianized version of Yuletide. Peace on earth and good will to all. Blessed be. Vote, let your opinions be heard, demonstrate, don't tap out but tap in. Grief is also part of the process of rebirth, of life and seasons. It is a tragedy what is happening over the globe not just Palestine, or other wars, famine, death and dissease. Be festive or mournful; just be you, everybody else is already taken.

i think its a good idea to strip it back down to the original holiday as much as possible, before commercialism and modern christianity morphed it into dime a dozen pop songs and a plethora of wasteful fast-fashion and junk. i think old school Solstice celebrations would be cool. im planning on tying "thank you"s and "wishes for the next year"s onto my homemade full nature wreathe, and burning it on the solstice to send if off to the other realm.

If you’re not a Christian and not a Catholic celebrating Christmas is just like not being African and celebrating Kwanzaa or not being Jewish and celebrating Hanukkah. It’s nullified. You are extremely enthusiastic about Yuletide and video creation and content ideas, it just seems like you’re not focusing that enthusiasm towards Christmas/seasonal cheer. I celebrate Christmas the winter solstice December 21 and the coming of the new year. You could do something very inclusive and streamlined regarding all global religious/seasonal holidays because that’s not only not about you and your own feelings or lack of them, it’s about others. And exactly when the world needs it most. That’s the epitome of what Christmas and celebrating these holidays really is about. I’m sure you can create content no one else will think of and it’ll be great. You just have to focus because you have it, I can see and hear it watching this video. It would be really nice if somebody actually went to the history of these holidays in different parts of the globe and celebrated them with simply paying respect to them all. I certainly would watch that! Either which way, Happy holidays and lots of love and light and energy sent your way.🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿

This year I’m not quite as into the spirit of Christmas however, I have focused on the meaning of the season and holiday this year and really do wish you a great holiday season and the chasing of your ideas and content creation. What better gift could you give somebody than genuine support, love, encouragement and positivity? So I’ve made it my holiday goal to do and be just that to everyone I come in contact with in life and digitally. Merry Christmas and happy new year! XO

Well, the reason we can always celebrate Christmas is because it's about the birth of Christ. If he didn't come into this world to pay the price for our sins we would have no hope. Jesus is our only hope. When times are dark, that's when we need Jesus who is the light the most.
