      I grew up here and have lived and travel across many different states and what you said seems true. Houston does seem to feel that way, unlike a lot of other major cities because here people don’t live on top of each other like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Boston.

      This city has always preferred to be developed that way. Even its downtown area is not all that dense and walkable. Plus the zoning law is nonexistent there. It wants to remain as one of the least pedestrian-friendly cities in the world.

    My parents always drove me on the bad sides of town & told me this is where you will live if you don’t get a education. Stuck with me ever since.

      My father kinda did the same thing with me, except that he always told me that if I don’t get a college degree I would be homeless. Mind you that he didn’t get a college degree so he probably said it from experience. At the same time I wasn’t aware back then that the then richest person on planet earth didn’t get a college degree at all.

      That’s the problem.. We get educated and some money then leave.. If we all put money in our communities we could build these bad areas into beautiful areas to live.. The government does when they gentrify the hood..

    As a Brazilian, I would say it looks like a typical lower middle class neighborhood in cities like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Still, it's much better than the favelas and many poor cities in Brazil. Maybe even a little better than the neighborhood I live in, even if it looks more intimidating than most of my neighborhood.

      @@jptpotcw392yeah, pretty much. I went to UH and honestly never felt in danger going through 3rd Ward. Frankly, the Galleria area is the only place to be cautious of.

      @@douglassmith5188 yeah apartments Is where its dangerous over here, where im at its full of gangs and junkies, its nothing compared to the favelas but its still very dangerous. The area in the video is full of people that got their house passed down generations, and now that area is getting gentrified since its in the middle of the city.
