Day 1500: Now addicted to pain pills and living on the street. No, but seriously, the progress was awesome and, in a way, it was kind of cool that you didn't finish it - made it much more real.
@Slavic Soldier Lmfao healthcare is definetely a thing outside the US, just because wherever you are is shit too doesn't mean it's shit everywhere. Never had an issue with healthcare in CA, AUS, or the Netherlands... People who have been no where love to say what you said though.
Dude I feel you. I learned back flips in high school, and now (12 years later) I picked them up again, and after the first day I felt like I had ripped my abs in half! That tuck is serious. On another note, don't let the injury stop you! Take the time to heal, be conscientious and do the rehab, and then come back at it with a vengeance! I tore my rotator cuff more than a year ago in an MTB crash and mostly had to stop riding and climbing. Still not totally healed, but I'm getting back into it. Its amazing how discouraging an injury can be though. It's kind of demoralizing; you put in months or years of hard work, only to have it taken by a single moment gone wrong. But you can come back strong and get even better!
Evan Barnes hahaha yes dude! The trucks are vicious on the core! The injury has definitely been discouraging, since I felt like I was progressing really well. I’m feeling optimistic now after some time has passed, and I’m pumped to get back to it ASAP!!
We learned to backflip on swimming classes at school, it took 2-3 classes to those that gained confidence. The secret is trying to elevate your knees to your chest just after jumping while you are in the air.
By the way, you'll benefit more from finishing the arm movement pointing to the sky to jump higher instead of overextending the movement trying to go backwards, this will give you more time (since you are jumping higher) to rotate mid air
You were right on track to landing this. With another week you would have had it. Don’t give up on it, this is isn’t the end of the progress , it’s just another part of it.
I feel like I can relate so much to this journey, including all the youtube research. I'm at 21 days of training (over like 3 months). I feel like the injury is just part of the barrier to entry (I've landed on my head twice now). It's going to happen at some point. You'll definitely get it when you come back to it!
Nice video MANNNN. Usefully teaching a more valuable lesson of patience and understanding. Making sure you take care of yourself. And that any hiccups along the way are just a part of the larger journey.
@cam thank you for trying and showing the progress, there were some really good info! Nothing worth winning comes easy - that's life! Hope you recover soon, will be waiting to see you do the back flip like a pro!
I really have learned a lot from your channel. I love how you research and then breakdown your goals. And that you seek out advice from more experience people. Keep these great videos coming.
Took a crunch on my neck as well when I was learning double fronts into a foam pit. Just bottomed out directly on my head. Fucks you up mentally that kind of thing, should have just gotten back on the horse immediately. This video inspired me to take up gymnastics again. Don't take too long a break, it'll just get harder to start again!
I've seen what you are doing wrong! The thing is, you are trying to do the moves separately. Like Jump and then rotate. Try Rotating AS SOON AS you leave the floor! This is what is making you miss that perfect landing! Try it out!
rodrigo teich yeah, meshing the two movements is something I was working on. Focusing too much on my jump and not enough on my tuck is what got me hurt, so I’m going to spend an extra amount of time when I get back trying to get. Better flow of the 2 movements.
Despite being unable to complete the goal, i love that you guys still posted the video! You were well on your way on hitting that goal! Hope you revisit it!
Awesome effort! How crazy is the feeling of first being upside-down? It's such a trick to overcome your mind. I had some injuries too in my backflip challenge but nothing this bad. Rest up and looking forward to the next attempt! 💪
easily the most well put together video you guys have made. If you did videos this level of quality with the fitness challenge videos you guys would have millions of subs in no time
its so good because its realistic! Getting potentially injured as awful as the is, is realistic even though you were very careful. Great news that's just bruising, looking forward to the next video :)
If I would learn a backflip again, I would first improve my technique on a trampoline. Basically, you want to do a backflip on trampoline without bouncing and land on straight legs. Then you're ready to do it to a foam pit, and then if you feel like you could easily do that you go with ground and some progressions, from example from maccacu.
I highly reccomend to get a strong neck for those skills. Landing on your neck, on a mattress in a foampit should not be a problem. No disrespect, I am very sorry for what happened to you, but it is a sign that your neck needs some serious stability. I reccomend various headstand techniques. Or Freezes from Breakdancing, where your head and neck stability are a necessity. Hope you recover fast.
Water is best way to learn .learn the rotational backflip in deep water off ledge .then you go to shollow water to learn how to use your hands then go to shollower water till you do them on ground .that how I learned .I used mattress also
Also you can get them fuckers off matrix to download that shit in your head and that works .mit got brainscanners and shit it's all secret for security and thieving bums don't want tell nobody
I have joined gymnasium and i will go for only two months i have completed standing bridge and side splits .now if i practice backflip how much time it takes to me attempt backflip pkz tell me..i am so anxious about it ...plzz is it possible to learn bakcflip in two months
I kid u not! I did my first backflip tonight of a 2 foot step at a gymnastics class!! So chuffed! I've been terrified and it's taken me weeks to get the confience
Daniel Evans hey dude, I want to sign up to a gymnastic class but all the ones I find online are either for 10 year olds or for 60 year olds haha. I'm 19 and I don't know where to go, I live in London. Any advice?
Ya they're hard to find eh 😓. I live near Crawley and go to K2 just to their "open session for adults". There's one I found called east London gymnastics. Hope that helps man 🙂 www.eastlondongym.co.uk/adult-gymnastics-
@@GoalGuys wow you replied! Thanks man 😁. So cool to finally see a "30 day video" where there actually have problems on the way. Makes it more genuine and shows people how to keep going despite the setbacks
Daniel Evans yh they're proper hard to find mate, east London is really far for me as I live in North-West haha I appreciate the gesture though mate 😄 I guess I'll wwit till I have a car or something then get into it
Feels like you had absolutely no fun doing this, pushing you to the limits to reach a goal of 30 days... Some things take time... But you had a lot of fun making and editing the video, here was the real goal for you I think ^^
So, did you ever do the backflip?? It's very scary to learn. Kids who learn at an early age have it made. I hope you move on and forget this goal. Too east to get "very" hurt. Take care!
Thanks for all the love and support guys! My back has come a long way, and I’m eagerly eyeing getting back in the gym and finishing this challenge!!!
You were very very close actually. Did you ever get it?
The beginning with the concrete scared me.
Chris Merlo Mission accomplished 👌

The most common mistake is to start to rotate before your feet leaves the ground or/and throw your head back.

The reason you tuck your knees is to increase your angular velocity by decreasing your moment of inertia due to conservation of angular momentum.
