Try start taking backflips going over the shoulder then keep progressing until you feel safe doing them over your head (use pads if you want to but you dont need them imo) Good luck with that! Really scary to learn but when you can do them they are fun!

I'm no expert, but to keep yourself from jumping so far back it's best to keep your eyes ahead when you jump. If you look up when you jump you force your body to go backwards, not up. At 5:18 you talk about not going too far back, but without knowing how to stop the tendency he had a hard time not jumping back. I bet if you just told him look straight forward and throw his hands straight up he'd of landed it in the same spot within five minutes. Good job teaching and helping everyone out there!
you need core strength to bring your legs over your head, as well as to initiate a fast rotation. you also need leg strength. calf strength is important, because at the end of your jump you push off your feet. quad strength will help you as well with the initial extension of your legs.

Don't jump or don't jump very high
Just don't jump. Try flat on trampoline and you'll get height without notices! Then you'll get more confortable. Also if you want don't tuck.
