Wondering if there is a problem from set up to establish a left side bend so you will have it at the top pre-established already to avoid the bad habit you noted? Will that work?
Look at a still photo of Tommy Fleetwood (or most other pros but it's particularly obvious with TF) at impact and you can see that he has significant RIGHT side bend on the downswing
@@russellheritagegolf thanks for taking the trouble to reply. You are a pro and I am an enthusiastic amateur and generally I bow to your superior knowledge of the golf swing but: 1. Given the downswing takes a quarter of a second or less, I don't believe it is possible, let alone desirable, to side bend to the left to start the downswing and then side bend to the right by the time of impact. 2. The most common fault I observe with club golfers in the downswing is not "getting stuck underneath" as you suggest but keeping the right shoulder too high and moving it out towards the target line too quickly and too soon in the sequence - wouldn't thinking about starting the downswing with left side bend be very destructive for golfers with that tendency?
Compound pivot ala Mike Austin 😊
Hey Russ. Videos on point. Thumbnail has a misspell. Cheers from the States!

I wouldn’t force a side bend in the set up position.

Yes but this video is for the very start to the downswing 👍🏻
